      Your tastes seem varied enough and you're old enough that I'm having a hard time believing that if you liked the Slayers dubs, you haven't found any number of other series since then. :3

        1. I'm Russian and live in Russia. There are no professional Russian dubs for most of anime and what there is VERY often crap.
        2. And English dubs that I did stumble upon kinda confirmed "dubs are shit" both in voice acting and translation.

        3. If I would go "download subs then buy for collection" (for which I need to stop being unemployed which is unsuccessful quest of last 6 years) I would most likely buy Japanese version.

        Oh, nevermind, that's an entirely different situation.

        That said, English dubs weren't great for awhile (and I don't know which ones you've seen), but generally nowadays they're fine, and even in the old days there are bright spots.
