Once more, the shavit will hit the fan when you read these... http://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/star-trek-vs-star-wars-stepping-back-from-maximalism.257354/
Hello there. I'm here wondering if you have quotes on how void shields work and their recharge rates. Would you happen to have any to spare?
There is no uniform approach to voids that I am aware of. Gav Thorpe is a big proponent of 'warp-based' voids - Deliverance lost, Ravenwing, etc.) whilst most authors seem to treat them as good ol forcefields.
So, how silly is the Warhound-boat idea? I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should roll my eyes. Would that even work? Making a boat big enough to carry the Warhound across the pacific, but small enough to be protected by it's shields? And if the Warhound's ship was sunk, wouldn't it be lost anyways? Or can it just... walk across the ocean floor?
I am not actually sure what the obstacles were really. Warhounds aren't exactly s uper-huge/heavy, but I imagine it depends on how you transport it (vertically or horizontally) and how all the weight is to be supported (maybe its hard to build a strong enough floor on a ship to support/carry it.) I dont think its impossible with our tech, it just may be very difficult.
If it sinks? Land Raiders could drive underwater, and Titans are supposed to be able to seal up enviromentally as well, so they probably could also. I've never HEARD of it happening mind, but its certainly possible.
hey so you know, the quotes in my reply post got all fucked up, i had to edit it a few times, then it wouldn't load. But I think it's all better now.
