I think it was less outrage, and more that he'd made what he thought - and on the surface, is - a valid argument. Past a certain point, he wasn't really arguing for SoK's victory, so much as he was arguing for Alucard to not possess an ability that his argument stated he couldn't have. Pride as a debater + apparently worthwhile argument + opposing side debunking the argument in vague, weird ways (and yes, I'm aware it's a valid debunk, but you have to admit that saying 'logic doesn't apply' sounds vague, and strange) = outraged poster.

Meh to be honest its not even really that important to me anymore who wins and who doesn't. I just can't believe how utterly outraged Gil is at the very thought of someone breaking the SoK's perfect record.

Thats the part that kinda slays me about the whole thing honestly, I've been having too much fun to point it out to him but even if I was to give up, it would be easy to turn it right around on him. Or I could even just point out that Alucard could hide indefinitely in the Saints mind and it would still be a stalemate. No matter how much Gil wants to bitch he's still wrong, my only concern is how much entertainment I can wring out of him now.

Mostly stuff dealing with a teen's dealing with adult situations. Romance is fine, too, as long as it's tastefully done. I generally prefer humor in the manga, though.
