I wish I did but it was years ago that I saw this, must have been hmm four years ago minimum. It was just one of those things that stuck in my head as it was fascinating to see.

Why is it that when I saw the name Duncan Idaho my brain immediately thought "intelligent commentary I am too impatient to deliver"? Are you a religious studies or philosophy student by any chance?

The whole issue with the Dickwolves sounds to me like..

PA: makes a strip about how assholish player-characters can be when viewed objectively, a rape joke was employed to help illustrate this.

Feminist blogger: Completely misses the point of the strip and fixates on the rape-joke, accusing PA of insensitivity to rape victims for not posting a 'trigger warning' on the page (something I had never ever heard of before, and had only ever seen since once, on said feminist's blog.)

PA: Completely misses the point of the Feminist Blogger's complaint and assumes they are being attacked a-la Jack Thompson, posts snarky comic strip in reply.

In the classical view of a learned society, essentially it would be a group of people who would get together to discuss specific topics. I presume the mechanism for this would be the same as it was in learned societies of old- the monograph. Essentially, one person writes a monograph, which is then distributed to the society for comment, debate, scholarly analysis, etc.
