I hear you. Gets really hard to do a post when RL problems color it. Kinda why I'm just sticking to free-form games. You can let everybody do their thing and update at your leisure.
Too many people quit posting that I've decided to shelve it for the time being. I've tried reminding the offenders but it seems to have been fruitless. Every tactical game I've tried running of late has fallen apart like this. I dunno if I'll try picking it up again.

You'll acquire augments yes. They're going to be more genetic/cybernetic/bionic type stuff. What kind of special abilities did you have in mind?
It means you'll be the only odd duck out in your unit until new types become available. Once unlocked, then you can mix things up.
You can mix and match once they've been unlocked and you've purchased them. Starting out, you'll be the only one that's different.

Yes; but it will take quite a bit of practice before you're really a good flyer; to be honest the earth-ponies probably have it easiest since they don't need to learn many extra skills. (Unicorns have it the hardest. They need to learn a whole new skillset. Pegasus at least have some level of instinctive knowledge.)
Indeed; cutie marks aren't gonna play a big role but there will have s small one in determing talents and skills. Particularly to unicorns.

Ok, its about 3 in the morning now.... But I will update tonight... I'd rather leave it to tomorrow....but to be honest the rp has been waiting long enough. Better to do it now than put it off. EDIT: It will have to wait until tomorrow... I'm too tired now to do any real good tonight.
