      Well, you know, you can be a tragic antihero while also being a sociopathic ball of rage and tentacles (Jackie Estacado says hi). Dark's idea of Mercer is more like the Joker. With superpowers.

      I mean, I don't doubt that Alex is pretty much an asshole. I just also think that he sometimes wants to do what's right, he's just really horrible at it. Or to put it another way, he's not a nice guy, but he is sometimes a good guy. And yes, I love Dana, she's all cuddley and sweary and loves her crazy-ass brother despite his crazy assery.

      If nothing else, I think Alex always has a reason to do all the awful things he does. He's a dreadful human being ('cause...he's not one) but he's not bad just to be bad. Civilian massacres are allll the player.

      It was supposed to be a silly one-off. I think everyone's a little alarmed at how wide-spread it ended up being.

      He's just trolling you, probably. He does it with me too (by threatening kill Dana in Prototypical Evil or have Alex fall on a pencil and die). He did take up on one of us saying Dana needs a kitten or something after what he put her through in PE.

      I didn't co-write it - Dark's responsible for the vast majority of it - but when we were goofing off on the VMA forums about the possible reactions Alex would have to a kitten, especially one he was trying to protect for his sister, I, well, made suggestions. The monologue gag at the beginning was mostly me, the kitten being named "Hunter" (and Alex's reaction) was me (because I think Dana would be a fan of Hunter S. Thompson) and the Blackwatch pilot going all mooshy over it was based on a little short I wrote, except at the end of that they crashed into a building due to kitten!distraction. The whole forum added their parts, really. The petshop stuff definitely wasn't me, for instance. The fic as a whole was mostly Dark. But you're welcome. :D
