I'd assign them on roles, a sub is meant to be a stealthy guard dog ranging around the fleet to pick off threats. You can do the same with a hunter/killer stealthy starship

Besides that...wouldn't they unofficially take measures to protect aganist hostile Alien threats? I know Gunstars are a way, and a sort of miniature Battlestar like the Strikestar...oh instead of down sizing the fleet they focus more on smaller vessels...like the 100 Valkyrie type Odin-class Light Battlestars...20 Mercury-class Heavy Battlestars...plus 2 Columbia-class Medium Battlestaes one is the Galactica the other a training vessel, and 2 Nova-class Super Battlestars one a porotype the other Atlantia?

As many as necessary for the safety of my realm, which the Navy would tell me. Presumably depends on the area, the mission, the local defences and an assessment on enemy scale and numbers. Plus analysis of Cylon operations in the previous war to predict their likely tactics in a future war.

I'd suggest finding someone who has read it and asking them, I have no intention of buying it and as a rule I don't read other peoples stories anyway. Very rare I read anything on the net :)

I have some questions on the Battlestar Galactica: Ghosts as I just got the comic yestarday...and I have ideas to add the Black Ops 'Ghost' Squadron, the Mercury-class (Variant) Therion, and the Orion...along with a handful of ships from the small orbital yard, plus ground stations to escape, and survive.

That's massively overplayed :D Leaving aside Roslin and the Priest, how many Colonials were seriously religious?
Adama was an Athiest, Starbuck I think prayed once, I can't think of anyone else except for that Gemonese Corporal who let Roslin out of the brig.

I can't remember ever claiming to be an expert if that is your implication ;) Plus what you ask is speculation given it's nature as a total OCP for Colonial Society. As with any society each person will react based on their preconceptions and sense of how it will affect them. Possible to predict for one person, for tens of billions?
