Hey Rama, you like World War Two?
    3. sauron117
Sorry for being an ass and putting a bad name to haloites. Thanks for telling me to knock it off. I need to startle thing off and clearing my head whenever I get frustrated.

      Thanks,
      Your friendly dark lord

Well, with the Summer Blockbusters starting to hit us, there should be a lot more fun soon.

        Hopefully.

I just read the USMC vs Covenant thread. Prepare for a bombardment of likes.

Hi Rama, you mentioned this earlier in the Halo Silentium thread regarding the Precursors: "They apparently existed before the creation of the stars, which the Librarian considers to be a remnant of an extra-dimensional region known as the Glow."

Would you be able to tell me what book and what page that is mentioned on? Would appreciate that. Thank you.

I have the kindle version, but at the end of string 4 the Librarian contemplates this:

"Was Path Kethona the source of the Precursors? Or had it been the birth galaxy of another great, more primary race, active even before the Precursors . . . Or a race before that, on and on back through time to the great Glow itself?"

She could just be referring to the early universe itself, but in the context of Cryptum it seems to imply that the earliest stage of the universe was a part of or similar to the Glow itself.

Hi, do you have the quote from Silentium where the Forerunners travel 176million light years or so to engage the Precursors?
      1. Rama
        Rama
        Sure. Sorry about the delay.

"Our ship emerged from its second jump, the middle distance— eighty-seven million light-years from the Orion complex, sixty million light-years from the irregular margins of our galaxy."

However it could be a typo and he meant hundred thousand. Either way, now matter how you interpret it, it doesn't make much sense in context.

Thanks, now I can slap down that lobotomized twat on Waypoint.

Also, epic smack down of Vaermina--that guy is just...ugh.

Glad I could make your day! The Tor.com one is the first sneak peek with the waypoint one being the second one.

Hey, I don't know if this was you or someone else, but in case you were the one who said it, did the Celestials from Star Wars ascend to another dimension?
      1. Rama
        Rama
I don't recall, but the Celestials certainly aren't around in any meaningful context. Their only physical presence was in the form of the Ones, other than that they're for the most part quite elusive.

I think so. Sometimes I miss the good old days of me, you, Leo1 and Lord V having 50 page arguements with Slayer, Mith and whatever Zinc clone was still here.

        But only sometimes.

Have you considered rejoining the Archive? We've done some house cleaning lately, and with the removal of a certain Bias, it's a much nicer place.

I might think about, although I'm not really a chatroom type of guy.

Hey, you still got the waypoint code?

      cheers

DId you design it as a stable reactor or one that requires constant checking and cooling periods?
      1. Rama
        Rama
It's stable, I just want to make sure (a) no one's dicking around and (b), the MFSU is full.

I have more, but you are out of PM space.

Haha sounds like fun - well I'd hate to disappoint but I bet Bioware doesn't let us get the geth and quarians to ally. I don't know that for a fact but I bet its the case :(
    17. Leo1
By the time my copy arrives you'll probably be on your second playthrough. How's the gauze situation?
    18. Obi Juan Kenobi
      Sweet dude. Congratulations!

Mr. AND Mrs. Rama? Which one where you before??

I'm involved in another one of those '31st century UFP vs.' threads and I'm trying to get a vague sense of their overall offensive and defensive capabilities based on a little extrapolation.

I want to try extrapolate based on the tech progression between ENT era ST and and TNG/DS9/VOY era ST, but I'm having some issues calcing the photonic torpodos. How much energy would be needed to knock a 3 km hole in an asteroid? I'm trying different things with nuclear weapon effects calculators but I'm not exactly sure what factors into cratering the surface of something.
    21. Leo1
Sorry man, I've cleared my PM box now.
    22. Leo1
Yeah, I'm really happy with the quality! TPM isn't up to the standards of the others, but damn the OT transfer is virtually perfect, with the exception of pink-sabre syndrom in the TESB duel.
    23. Captain Orsai
Sorry, no.I can't recall where that was, although I can fill in some of the details. Was an AdMech Magos studying Necron tech and degenerating into ranting that "The metal lives. The metal lives. The metal lives. THE METAL LIVES. THE METAL LIVES. THE METAL LIVES THE METAL LIVES THE METAL LIVES".
