      So! Art is for fun!

The thing is, in the end, there are too many art talents out there, and not enough demand to satisfy them all. And many industries that do use artists are not developed enough to actually require them all.

The artist industry in China is practically run by a single animation team or three. Other than the few and in between state owned artists on call, there's no need for the thousands who pour out of the art schools.

Most artists don't think about this kind of thing before they go into their profession. Rather than using their brains, they kind of just do. I know I did. And that screwed me up miserably.

The sad fact is there are just too many other jobs that require labor, and require attention and money, over art. Art is, after all, just for recreation. Agriculture for example, would hire more people and receive more money than animation because it is more important and a necessary part of life, no?

      In the end, I think it's rather easy to build up skills in drawing, especially cartoon or digital drawing. I learned how to draw Japanese cartoons via doodling on my calculus homework. >_>;;

Writing takes more skill, I think. But then, drawing is one of the first skills I learned, so maybe I'm biased... :3

As a painter, sketcher and sculptor myself, I don't think the treatment most animators have is all that bad. Unless they hate their jobs or their bosses are being especially evil~

Of course, I don't work on the same level as most other artists. My art is done for fun, not for the sake of money, so the goal to begin with is a little different. Still, the average animator is well enough treated. It's just that some animators are so lazy/procrastinators that they don't learn any other skill. Such as accounting, economics or medicine or basically anything they can fall back on or use to maximize their income/living.

Art is the last profession I would go into because I agree with you on that many artists are hobos. But that is no fault on their employers, just themselves, in most cases! Most of the artists I know, who are hobos, are hobos because they don't know how to "save money", "use moderation", or "balance checkbooks". Don't get me started on complicated things like "investment"~

Well, Nanao-kun has yet to truly unlock the harem route!

It was an animation company that dad added a digital art department to, for smart phone games and stuff like that. Then ditched it because I wasn't really interested in that stuff either, like you. An animation company isn't as fun as it sounds. At all. :(

Well, I'll help you however I can with my spare time! My dad used to own majority stock in an animation company, before I told him I wasn't interested in working in that industry. :3

Those are fairly standard if I'm remembering right. Pretty fancy and nowhere near "less indecent if they went commando" levels.
    18. HolySeraph
Oh dear. Well, the schoolgirl I cosplayed as are the ones from Strawberry Panic. Not sure how they compared.
    19. HolySeraph
Now you know why anime skirts are so short. :p

Though, I didn't have to roll up the skirt I made for my cosplay though. Overall, I'm just glad the cosplay came out decent even if I can't fully be a trap.
    20. Techlology
Having never worn a skirt before, I've not much experience in the matter. :p

My girlfriend from high school did say something about rolling and tucking the skirt up at the waistband or something along those lines.
    21. HolySeraph
      I see.
Reminds me when I was making a Anime School girl cosplay and trying to figure out the skirt length gave me some initial troubles.
    22. Nanao-kun
Realistic women look so short. This is why tall models are popular.
    23. HolySeraph
      How are they different?
    24. HolySeraph
      *cks out your VN blog*
...I think the reason your character look like they had too short of legs because the skirt is too low. Anime Schoolgirls tend to have the line between shirt & skirts at about the waist level, not at the hips.
    25. Deviatesfish
I claim this Tech-tan for great justice.
