      Unhappy,

Just wanted to mention great review of Iron Man 3. Had a lot of good points and really enjoyed the reflection on how the IM series looked at terrorism, the standing of the USA, and story overall. Although I rank Avengers higher than IM 3 LOL. Seriously though great written review.

I just wanted to say, I'd like every single post of yours in the "UA Plays WarCraft II/StarCraft" threads if I had the time. I wish I had come across it sooner, but...I didn't notice those two before. And I kinda glossed over WC3 because, well, I was very upset at them destroying Lordaeron and so was never very interested in that game. :(

Now that I think about it, your criticism of TVTropes does make perfect sense. The site defines what a trope is, but there are things contradicting that statement.

Honestly, that can be chalked up to the site getting edited constantly.

How do I convert to Christianity (Roman Catholicism specifically)? I've been feeling that I should go that way but I don't know how.

Maybe ask a Catholic? In seriousness: Christianity is a personal decision, but it's practiced in a community. Look around local churches until you find one you 'click' with. Ask the ministers. This is their job. :)

I'm just curious. I like the site (even though only a few lists are done well) and I mainly hang around the forums. There's not much reason for it, but is there much reason to have a desktop background? *shrugs* Its also kinda informative

I think the site is fine. Is it a mess? Yes, but its a well organized mess. I also like some of the new changes.

Don't know if you've seen this, but since you stated that you follow Shamus Young's blog, I thought I'd share this with you:

Campster has a fairly lengthy discussion with Shamus and the Spoiler Warning guys about Half-Life 2. It's worth a watch. They bring up several of the points from the Errant Signal Half-Life video.

Um, I don't mean to sound confrontational here, but firstly I do watch Spoiler Warning and secondly I'm not really interested in being preached at regarding the merits of the One True Game.

Didn't mean to sound 'preachy,' but you bring up that Errant Signal video pretty often, so I thought I'd show this video to you. If you've already seen it then my bad.

You do know that I don't like, um, anything by Valve, don't you? Anyway, I don't think it has much to add to the debate, never mind basic errors, such as Portal being an FPS. The comment on winnability is a non sequitur, the comparison to Milgram is fatuous, and so on. There's even a bizarre section where it pretends that noclipping is some artistic statement. I find the whole thing self-indulgent nonsense.

Well technically it is a 'shooter' since you shoot... portals. But that's getting into semantics. Anyway, it is just one among many articles I found analyzing the game, I just felt like sharing it since it was somewhat relevant.

Could you please provide the Tolkien quote about dragons vs machine guns? I'd like to have it available.

Was curious. What was the Silverpine Forest quest you refused to do?
      1. Unhappy Anchovy
        Unhappy Anchovy
It was after the quest 'Lordaeron'. 'Rise, Forsaken' was probably the point of greatest evil, but Sylvanas' speech in 'Lordaeron' made it impossible for me to work for her.

Sometimes you just have to like several posts by the same poster in order.

This was one of those times.

Personal question, you´re no Catholic right?

Denominationally, I am a member of the Uniting Church of Australia. I have never been a Roman Catholic, although I have no dislike of Catholics and I have a great respect for their church and their traditions. I have my disagreements with the Vatican, but so do most Catholics, it seems. Why do you ask?

How the flying fuck is Evolution part of the Devil´s work?
      1. Unhappy Anchovy
        Unhappy Anchovy
For LoH, all evil and suffering is the work of the Devil. 'The Devil' can be read as a synonym for 'evil'. The mechanics of Darwinian selection are rather brutal and include a good deal of death and suffering. Therefore, while LoH acknowledges that the world works that way and evolution is scientifically true, the suffering it causes makes it a sign of the evil of the world.

Needless to say I do not share his view.

Well, I never said you did. But it is fascinating how one can acknowledged Evolution and also classify it as work of the devil To be honest all the other "deniers" were just that..they simply denied it. To find one that accepts it but says it is evil, is something completely new to me.

Hey, over the several years I've been here (and the few more I lurked), I gotta say I continue to be really impressed by the level of arguments and understanding you show. I may be a strong atheist liberal, but to see people like you-who hold different beliefs and ideas, yet who are so open-minded...it's really quite inspirational. Keep it up!
    18. Sabertooth
Thank you for being informative about the if and nots of the Bible. It´s very interesting to read your replies. I also helps that I don´t view you in utter contempt like LoH, which makes it easier to read what you write.

Even if you do disagree with me about any number of other things? Thank you anyway. I honestly like LoH, but I can't let fundamentalism be the only Christian perspective on the forum!

Ha, that is interesting! I have to confess that there are some country songs I quite like, though the genre is sometimes a bit too saccharine for me as well, so there you go. Way to make me feel self-conscious about my preferences in music!

Hey, my favorite music is, quite seriously, that manufactured by the Disney Channel's various popstars. You have nothing to be ashamed of, comparatively. I just thought it was interesting related to your (unless I confused posters) comments that you were not sure what the conservative/republican ideology was about.

My Eastern/Western developer swap fantasy: For the New Vegas devs to make a Pokemon WRPG, and for Intelligent Systems to make an FE-styled Fallout SRPG. If done right, it'd be awesome.
