Spice and Wolf. The wait for the next release will surely be painful. Oh so very painful. And oh so very worth it. Apr 27, 2013

I see you've gone on a Spice & Wolf binge? Good taste.

We can work on story as it comes up then. And I can get involved in mechanics in the thread.

As for outsourcing... well, I can probably handle general stuff easily enough. Magic bullshit usually isn't a major part of personality writing. =P

As for the story, I suppose I can write up a basic setting info so you can help me set the direction of it.

Well, it's possibly just because I haven't played MMOs much, but the powers and the fact you can roll around and dodge made it somewhat more interesting, I found. Of course, not enough for me to fire it up automatically. >.>

Yeah... 40ish points on military is going to murder upkeep anyways even with upgrades I think the only way around that is the Reserve Fleet trait. Hm... should we carry this over to a chat instead? For fun and profit.

Not explicitly, but it tends to have short pauses to touch on and explain a key concept. If you know very little about economics, you will know more by the end of one of them though! =P

It is definitely more about Lawrence and Holo than anything else!
And I wouldn't call it basic, but rather just very focused. Bring up one thing at a time to explain, sorta. It's hard for me to grasp, exactly, what with not being an economist. =P

Finished with Rewrite. The same doesn't seem to be the case for the visual novel binge. Maybe YU-NO will be next...
    11. Usandru
And Kanbe Kotori wins first place for best heroine of Rewrite. As was to be expected of the character voiced by Chiwa Saito.

Notable characters voiced by Chiwa Saito:
        Homura Akemi (PMMM)
        Hitagi Senjougahara (Monogatari-series)
        Tamamo (Fate/Extra)
She also has absolutely amazing voice range. So basically she's just so good I keep an eye on what she does.

The reason I liked her the most as a character is a bit too complex to explain here though. If you post in my VN discussion thread I'll be happy to do it though. xD

Basically, its because she has a personality I like and felt like an adult to me though.

Finally, the supposed "romance" was horribly written, with an even more horribly written "family" thing. The Yui character made me want to stab someone whenever she showed up just because of how terrible the writing had to be to include her, and how goddamn stupid her concept was.

So sounds like if I took my fic, had the plot wander aimlessly, didn't write it seriously, and then presented it seriously....XD

Though, I wonder how much of that is because of the original novels or not.

Heh. Well, the comparison is possible.

No idea about the novels, but given that the second arc plot came from them, and I hear of even stupider stuff, I'm disinclined to trust them to be any better.

Really the worst thing is that the setting had so much potential...

Mostly a case of contrast. It was excellent for eleven episodes, had oodles of potential, and then... all wasted. Call it an element of "professional" pride, I guess? I mean, I don't mind crappy things to be crap, but if I can SEE that the writer knows their stuff, I'll get pissed if they fuck up.

On the scale of terrible writing, it wasn't actually THAT terrible...

...well, it was PRETTY terrible, but still.

Rampant, unforeshadowed deus ex machinas, pointless additional backstory and a horrible handling of the thematic resolution.

Pretty much. All the games have some sort of mechanic for protecting the reyvateils while they sing their song magic. Mmmm....maybe D&D defenders might have something.
and then there is the fact the relationships/character development can play a strong role in creating new song magic. So reyvateils PC have added responsibility.

Because of those reasons and the large amounts of lore(I personally suspect it rivals Nasu in lore), I'm considering creating a discussion thread to help me iron out details. And may help people refine their characters.

Reminds me of my thoughts of having different languages and the barriers as a conflict/drama in my fic, but then I thought it be too much trouble.

Okay, just read a bunch of Unsounded. The main characters are absolutely terrible people. xD

Of course, so are most everyone else, which just makes it better. I really like Sette though. It's rare enough to have proper child protagonists in adult stories, but to have one that is a horrible person and yet manages to be charming? Very impressed over here. ;)

Yep. In a way, it reminds me of Black Lagoon. There aren't heroes so much as less needlessly evil people running around.

On top of that, the world building is top-notch. It actually feels like these places could exist, and the way Quigley and Duane interact with each other really highlight the different views people have in this world. They're both Aldish, but oh how different their outlooks are.

That's a good comparison. They have a lot of the same thematics and character tone really. I haven't really gotten further because other stuff and kanji, but what I've read so far makes me agree totally. The setting itself is strange, bizarre, and incredibly vibrant. It also takes one of the - in my opinion - better ways of presenting it. All by inference. "As we know" monologues are for suckers! =P

Well, if I was writing a story with them, I'd first give them some hope, then cruelly take it away, and finally let them achieve a permanent victory in the aftermath of the grand conflict... probably.
Now I feel tempted to write something with an allout downer ending... xD
Anyway, they'll probably hire on easy enough as long as you've got money, so hey.

A bittersweet one I think is most likely. They get their vengeance. But at what cost...and what did it get them?
But that likely more of a personal preference. I suppose it depends on what kind of 'aesop' your downer ending ends up giving.

        Money money money...XD
Maybe? I'm the de jure Queen so having some money would be expected. Either that or the political power I may still have.
