around playing a blind Mistborn solo game hosted (off SB) by Phantrosity. Due to my eclectic schedule, it was about the only game I could post on because it didn't really matter when I posted, or how long it took me to post.

It's only recently (last few days/week)that I've found the time to actually get back on SB - though none of the games that were running immediately caught my eye - or had already racked up a positively gigantic number of posts which I would have to backlog through.

Plus, through last week and a couple days into the week before that, I had a fever, which unfortunately had a long recovery time.

I would take his general conclusion with a grain of salt, and his biases are plain to see, but in combination with the earlier two books mentioned, there's a lot in here worth digesting. His examinations of the sort of "quantum state" in which Bulgaria existed in the Roman world, and why the Romans considered them such a threat to the legitimacy of the Roman state, in particular, is worth the price of admission.

That's fine. I was asking for what you considered worth reading - I can hardly claim to be particularly knowledgeable about the period.

Well, after you read those books, you'll be just as knowledgeable, if not more, than I on this particular topic. :D

Sometimes you need to make a gamble, after all, and I think the reward is high enough, and the risk actually lower.

Yeah, the whole damned plan is a gamble. Bringing Shirou and possible Rin would help. Crusader is too noble to attack our master after we've issued a fair challenge, and a command seal might give us the edge we need.

Bah, anyway, if you could drop in and express your opinion, it'd be greatly appreciated. The first Crusader loss was nasty, a second might well result in a bad end.

After feeling...well, not great at all, I've pretty much lost inspiration so feel free to kick me.

Like, make it so they assume that something else secret is going on. Misdirection is useful. Hide it, then if they realize something is hidden, make it a misdirection which they would naturally fall into based on what you can tell about them, and then have the truth under that.

There are a lot of tricks which you can use--I think you'll have to learn a lot of this yourself.

One last thing. Realpolitik tends to boil down to, at it's simplest, a few questions.

1. What do I want?
2. How can I get what I want?
3. What do they want?
4. Is it advantageous to me for them to get what they want?
5. If not, how do I prevent them from getting what they want?
