I'm going to say he watched "Sci-Fi Science" since they actually talked about that. Granted, it was a number of ships spaced around a planet firing X-Ray Lasers, but yeah.
He's one of those people who don't understand that when they say we won't have the tech for a century, that we won't have the tech for a century (you'd be amazed how many arguments over that there are).
On a site with nerds who can't accept that it's more difficult than you would think with fixing a issue with a universe's FTL drive? I am astonished, astonished I say! :p
... Never, ever bring up an argument about how an alien civilization is "Fifty years more advanced" then we are. You will get a bunch of people showing up and decrying the usage because "It's not true!"
I won't, but considering how bad things are attracted to me like flies are to honey...
(Though then again, it's not bad like me giving you more ideas like suggesting why you don't make a character from the universes of Nanoha or Slayers for the RP.)
