Gaius Baltar listened eagerly to the unknown transmission that the Galactica had picked up, it was in a rather unusual variation of standard, but still it was understandable. But it wasn’t coming from a colony, it was coming from an area no colonial ship or probe had ever visited before. Which made the fact that it was understandable very interesting.

Baltar snorted, he once thought he was perfect, but number six had proven to him oh so eloquently exactly how perfect he was.

That was what had caused the colonies their problems in the first place, they didn’t want to fight their own battles, their own wars so in a burst of massive self-indulgence they created the cylons to fight for them, and just look how that turned out.

Baltar agreed, despite the rumours scuttlebutt and general gossip circulating the fleet about how much of a paradise Earth was, he doubted it. He knew all too well of human follies, he knew no world with humans on it would either be perfect.

You know you've got everybody fooled>
He shuddered; he had to keep them fooled, if they learned that he, Gaius Baltar was responsible for the destruction of the colonies…
<Look here she comes now>
Baltar looked up sharply at those words, in time to see the ever lovely figure of number six stride into the room, her every movement cat like and alluring.
<Bow down and stare in wonder>
How does she do that? I know she isn’t really there and yet… I always see her, my mind always tells me she is truly there even when she isn’t.

You never truly loved me, he told Six, you just needed me for your plans, you wanted a tool.
<No flaws when you're pretending>
“Of course not, any flaws would be a give away, they would get suspicious, find out about you, how I helped you destroy the colonies”

Baltar shuddered as she left, just a figment of your imagination, she’s not real, she can’t be, not here.

She just used me, I thought she truly loved me and she was just using me.

Can’t find yourself lost in your lie>
Baltar agreed, already he had almost let slip his secret several times. It was getting harder and harder to remember all the lies, to keep his stories intact.
<I know the truth now>
A clattering from the doorway brought Baltars attention to the warriors pouring into the room, their faces angry, and their weapons out.
<I know who you are>
Behind them came Commander Adama himself, his eyes knowing, glaring straight at him.
<And I don't love you anymore>
“Do you have anything you wish to tell us Baltar?” contempt filled the commander’s voice.
<It never was and never will be>
“Err… No. Is something wrong?” Even to Baltar, his voice sounded weak and unsure.
<You’re not real and you can't save me>
He caught sight of number six smirking at him through the door; she blew him a kiss before walking out, through the angry warriors.
<Somehow now you're everybody's fool>
“We know, Gaius Baltar, we know what you did. Do you know how many people are dead because of you?”
