(Just a note to everyone, if you are using the flashlight tell me so i know what you will or will not see. So far i've been assuming that you've kept it off to hide yourself from possible enemies.)

The doors keypad shows green, it appears to be unlocked and undamaged.

You move to the left side stairs and begin to climb up to the observation room. Partially up the stairs you feel the slightest tug against your foot as you step up to the next step. Something was odd about that, a look down showed nothing you could see in the dim light, instinct was what made you look up.

Enhanced reflexes was the only thing that allowed you to fling yourself over the railing in time as something large dropped from the darkness of the ceiling. You land on the floor as a spider easily matching you in size impacts the stairs. A second later another spider drops down to block the door you entered through and a third drops near the center of the room. They arnt trying to be silent now and you can hear skittering across the cieling above. They appear to be trying to get in position to drop on you.

Your mind quickly plots out your only escape routes. There are three, possibly four, doors able to be used. One on the far side of the room, as the webbing gets thicker that direction it's a good bet there are more spiders over there. The door closest to the one you entered from is also unguarded and you know it is also unlocked. The observation room has two sets of stairs each of which lead to a door, it's possible they are both unlocked but one stair set currently has a spider on it and the other could have one ready to drop there as well.

The skittering above is converging on your position and you realize you need to think, and move fast if you want to get out of here in one piece.

(Let's see folded up papers, a half magazine of SMG ammo, 2 med-kits, a spare flashlight, a pda, a lighter and a smaller flashlight. Even with a breast pocket or two my lab coat has got to be getting full.)

I stop to think about where to go as there are 5 doors here. I can go back out the one I came but I'd have to dismantle the barricade which would waste a lot of time and I don't want to be in one place too long with whatever bent up the door still out there. The Webbed door seems a trap or worse leads to a silk hive. So either the door on this level or the observation lounge. Figuring I should check this floor out before moving up I go to the door closest the one I came in and check for a keypad to see if I can open it. I do so from the side so I'm not standing right in front of it though if I can.
(The two medkit boxes are arnt very big. But yes, to carry anything else you're going to either have to hold it in your hands or find something else to carry it in.)

You move to the door marked BLD-22-9 and move to the side. The keypad shows green so it is unlocked and able to be opened. You close inspection though notices something. The door of course has a very dim emergency light above it, barely showing in the light is four strands of very thin silk that dissapear into the darkness above. You would have missed them if you werent paying such close attention and hadnt been at the perfect angle.

Looking closely around you see no silk lines that could be pulled to grab you or anything of the sort. It appears to very likely be some form of warning system. The door would open and break the four strands alerting the spinners that something had entered.

If I can't carry anything I put it in the storage locker for now.

I then look over at the other door that was across the room to see if I can examine it from my current position, then go over and examine the BLD-22-9 to see if it has anything of note about it, if not then I raise my gun-club in one hand and try to open the door with the other.

The other door is to far away for you to see anything about it.

You look over the door but dont see anything of note. You press the button and it slides open swiftly. You have barely begun to examine the hallway from the door when something grabs you from behind. While being pulled backwards you are twisted around and see a massive spider somehow landed on the ground behind you quietly. It is pulling you towards it's fangs when you lash out with your improvised club. The thing drops you and jerks back with a shriek, most likely more surprised than hurt. Two thumps by the door you were attempting to exit through notify you to the arrival of two smaller spiders. Rolling to the side you manage to get your feet under you even as another spider drops to block the door you entered from. Backing away you can now hear them moving around above you as well as some hiding among the tanks and moving to try and flank you.

The only unguarded exits are the two observation room doors and the door at the far side of the room though that door has a lot of webbing near it.

(To clarify this, Citrakite saw the lines due to being extremely lucky and standing at just the right angle to see them by. Looking at them from the front makes them nearly invisible, and the light being dim only makes seeing them harder.)

(Is no more hallway, that door was at the end of the hallway. Just to give a hint, so you dont get held up to much, there are two ways to get the door open.)

(Read the last post, a spider already blocks the door you entered from. You have three choices. One observation room door, the door at the far end of the room, and the door marked BLD-22-9.)

(Bah. Shoes are overrated. )

The Storage Locker is marked SL-098 and requires a code to open.. You use several codes and find the one from the note under the vials unlocks it. The front rolls up to show that it is mostly empty, there is enough dust inside to show that there had been quite a bit more stuff there but there is less now.

You find two small boxes marked as medkits, a look inside one shows five syringes filled with different colored liquid along with bandages and other normal medical emergency things. The syringes are labeled as medical aid and on a piece of paper in the box they are listed to aid in the fighting off of poisons, venom and toxins, and some are to increase the healing speed of the patient.

There are several flashlights and a box of batteries.

On the bottom shelf there are a couple scattered bullets and open and empty boxes. It's likely the thing had held ammo and possibly weapons but people had cleared it out earlier.

Going over the barricade closely has allowed you to get a few unfired shotgun shells that had rolled under one table. Other than that there doesnt appear to be anything of note left here, if there was ever anything of real note here originally.

It takes some doing examining the keypad while the door is moving but you notice that it appears to be slightly damaged, half the numbers are no longer backlit and one appears to be blackened slightly. There doesnt appear to be a way to get it to open normally and stay open.

OOC: Thait, I'm think you missed the part about opening, and looting the locker

I still have the canister with me. I run to the observation room stairs, the one with the spider on it.

I hit the spider with the canister, as hard as I can. If it dies, I run to the observation room doors, and try to open them.

I sprint towards the observation room doors, cursing the idiots that made these things all the way, if I had more time to think I'd wonder if the webbing around that one room meant that they wanted to keep stuff out of that room or stuff in that room out. Later, assuming there is a later, I'll also wonder if shining a flashlight in their faces would deter them? Right now it's all about the running and avoiding the Spinners however.

I try and slip into the room through the malfunctioning door and head inside, cautiously making my way through the room once inside.

Oh sorry, in that case I shine the flashlight up to the ceiling above the empty staircase as I head up it, hopefully blinding or at least alerting me to a spider if it's there.

(Assuming I'm wearing shoes)I kick the door as I can, on the side the door didn't come out.

If That doesn't work, I see if I can apply downward force on anything on the other side of the door, in an attempt to push the open button on that side.

That doesn't work, I head back to the room just outside of my original cell and try the other door.

(Crud. Sorry about that. Assume you did it. I'll try not to miss stuff like that again.)

You are surprised as a spider actually leaps into the air trying to pounce on you but you still manage to lunge forward and dodge it. Sliding for a few feet you scramble to your feet and rush for the stairs while several spiders clamber over tanks and other things to chase you. The spider on the stairs rears up and lunges forward as you reach a level comparable to it. The only thing it manages to do is get it's fangs impacted by the canister you swing at it. Luck aparently was on your side and the spiders fangs pierce the damaged section of the canister. A thick gold liquid bubbles out getting on the spiders head. A second later it plummets from the stairs with a shriek and impacts the floor as it's head starts to melt, the other creatures hesistate for a moment seeming to watch the dieing one. You quickly drop the tank, noting that the steps the golden liquid gets on start to melt as well, and make a break for the door.

The door opens quickly and you jump inside slapping the keypad on the other side making it slide closed. Even so one spider manages to get a leg through the door only to have it sliced off by the door. Before you can look around much there is a thumping on the large windows that overlook the infested room. Staring in surprise you see a large spider crawling along the windows before it flug itself back. Swinging on a strand of silk like a wrecking ball it swept back towards the windows as you start to back up. A second later, and with a loud thud, it impacts the window with no visible sign of damage to the window. By the seventh or eighth time it tries it you arnt worrying anymore as the window appears to be made of something strong enough to hold against the impacts. Even so you can see several of the things clinging to the window and seem to be looking in at you.

Remembering the information on the Spinners you realize that when the entry said they mostly resembled spiders it meant that the biggest difference was intelligence. Somehow you can tell these things are smart. Maybe not human smart but they wont forget you got away, and you can see some that are certianly small enough to fit through vent shafts. It's probably a good idea to watch your back from now on.

You finally take a look around the room. It's not very large but has a couch, a TV set in the wall, a camera and a speaker undeath it, one desk and a computer. There is a chart hanging on the wall near the door you entered, it seems to depict a Spinner with lines running to different parts of the body and small notations scribbled on it. The computer screen is on and one thing is blinking on the screen Tank breach detected, activate defense system. Yes/No?

There is a door on the west wall marked BLD-22-2.

While running you easily remember the entry on Spinners, especially how they hunt in packs. This is likely a spinner den. Leaping to one fallen over tank you run along it before leaping to the top of another and then to the railing of the stairs. Scrambling over it you can only thank your luck that the ones over the stairs had likely moved to try and get you out on the main floor. Even so you can hear one smash down on a tank only a little ways behind you. It leaps onto the stairs rushing up after you as you scramble up to the door.

You hit the keypad to open the door even as you duck down to one knee. A large leg impacts the door as it opens and you jump forward from your kneeling position hitting the keypad as you go through. Turning around you see the spider trying to hold the door open only to be forced to pull back at the last second allowing it to slam closed.

As you turn the corner you see what looks to have once been a crude barricade. Metal tables had obviously once been set up to allow their use as cover and to try and hold back anything entering the hallway. The clanking sound you had heard is from a larger door than the one you left attempting to close and hitting what looks to be a metal canister. The door attempts to close, after hitting the canister it reopens and attemtps to close again.

The door is marked BLD-22-11. Each time it opens you get a look into what looks to be part of a large dimly lit room. Due to the doors placement you can only believe it opens into the room with the covered windows but also due to the doors placement you get an extremely limited view.

As you begin to climb the stairs you keep your light angled down in an attempt to hide it and suddenly something catches your eye. Crouching slightly you can see it is a very thing strand of spidersilk. The only reason you saw it was that it reflected your light with the way you angled it down. You can see the strand attaches to another that angles out and up into the darkness above. You step over it and move up the stairs watching, there are three more lines like it on the way up but you avoid them all, you manage to make it to the Observation room door with no incident. You quickly activate the door and slip inside the room closing it after you.

Looking out the windows of the room it appears you managed to make it to the room without alerting anything to your presence, if anything was there to alert.

You take a look around the room. It's not very large but has a couch, a TV set in the wall, a camera and a speaker undeath it, one desk and a computer. The room is big, much larger than even the two rooms you were last in put together and the cieling is high above you covered in nearly impenatrable darkness. There are dozens of tables with restraints like the one you yourself were on not long ago. There are also dozens of tanks, each large enough to hold a full grown human and then some, they seem to at one time had a clear front but now they are all broken open, a bright light shines from the inside of each tank. The walls are mostly bare but along the west wall of the room you see a set of stairs leading up a level to what looks like a observation room above. Against the wall below the observation room is a what looks to be a huge metal storage locker.

You realize that the east wall would be the one with the windows. As you look there you can just make out some kind of metal shutters blocking the windows. But you can only see half of those windows, the other half look to be covered by some kind of substance that looks for all the world like a huge spider web.

The room has three doors, not counting the observation rooms, one is to far away to get a good look at being all the way across the room. The other is marked with BLD-22-9.

The center of the room is the most damaged, entire tanks had been torn from the floor and were lying haphazardly here and there. There are several objects scattered around there but you are to far away to be able to tell what they are.

There are several banks of equipment around the room but even from where you are you can see they are heavily damaged.

You made it halfway to the other stairs when another spider drops there, and three more small ones begin to slide down nearby. Your path to the observation room is now fully blocked, and the rest you can tell seem to be trying to herd you towards the door on the far side of the room. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to realize thats a bad idea. The last exit is BLD-22-9 and probably the only place without an enemy guarding it.

Breaking left you dodge a small spider that leaps at your head and rush back dodging through toppled tanks and tables. The spiders move to block your path but the tanks this time are giving you cover and you spin around one getting behind the last spider. A quick rush brings you to the door and you hit the keypad opening the door and slipping through hitting the button again. You hear an angered shriek and glance back noticing that two large spiders had held the door open to allow two smaller ones to make it through before the door closed.

Though they are fast you manage a quick sprint down the hallway passing two closed doors whose keypad displays glowed red showing they were locked and heading for the end of the hall and the last door there. Quickly hitting the open button on the keypad there you jump through and seal the door behind you.

The room is huge, the cieling covered in shadow and the emergency lights not showing much up there, though the lack of webbing is a good sign. The center of the room, lit by emergency lights as well, is dominated by a what looks to be a generator of some sort. There is a single console nearby with a glowing screen showing something you cant see from where you're standning. There appears to be a body lying near the console, your flashlight sweeping over it shows it's missing it's head but the blood there would normally be seems to have drained through a grillwork the body is laying half on.

(You gave me an idea. )

You still have not found any shoes. You try to apply pressure to the door but it wont budge.

Irritated you trudge back to the door you entered the hall through and open it. And then stop cold. The bent door is no longer in place, in fact it's lying halfway through the room, the door you first exited from looks partially torn inwards now. The soundproofing that must have went into the construction of the doors and such is truly impressive. That thought vanishes a second later when you try and think of what might have done this. Though whatever it was must be elsewhere right now.

Also, I double check the contents of my Labcoat bag.

Okay, I drag the body away from the grillwork and search him. You know what? I take his shoes too. My feet are getting cold. I need some footwear. After that's done I'm going to check the console, keeping that grillwork in the corner of my sight.

I examine the Spinner chart on the wall for anything relating to the defense system after looking around for any vents.

Glass knife.
shockproof case with three vials of purple liquid.
clipboard, note, charts.
Broken machinegun club
Machinegun ammo.

You move warily down the hallway, a much darker one than the one you were in before. You stumble over several things but in the dark you cant tell what they are and keep moving towards the dim red glow from somewhere ahead.

You've gotten quite a bit closer to the light when you pass a spot where the wall seems to get even darker and you realize it must be an open doorway. Stepping past it you freeze when you hear a deep grunt from in the darkness of what you assume is the room. The grunt is followed by something large moving. You dont waste any time and bolt down the hall, thankfully not stumbling over anything, and reach a doorway. Quickly opening the door you get inside and close it watching it for a moment.

The door you entered is marked BLD-22-14 above that in red letters is the word Security. The room is small and has three monitors on one wall, straight ahead of you, above what looks to be some kind of control board. There is two other doors from the room, one marked Storage and one marked with BLD-22-15. There are two lockers on the left wall. There is a desk near the right wall with several papers lying on it.

The Storage Locker is marked SL-098 and requires a code to open. You use the one from the note under the vials to unlock it.

By the looks of the clothes and remains of the gear the corpse is wearing the guy was security. The combat boots are in good condition. The pants are tore in a few places but still mostly intact. What very obviously had originally been a tacticle vest is nothing but tatters along with his shirt and chest. It looks like his head was litteraly torn straight off, the damage to the neck isnt clean so it wasnt sliced off. His belt has several pouches on it, a quick look in them shows one with crackers and a water bottle in it. The other is empty but for a security card of some kind. It has no name but the words Security Level: Delta are on it. A look around doesnt show you any gun though.

His boots fit well enough on you.

The console is mostly made up of a large touch screen. There are several lines of text on it right now.

'Local power generator offline.'
'System reset complete. Restart generator Yes/No?'

The room appears to have one vent but it is a very small thing you would have trouble sticking your hand through, from what you saw of the Spinners there is none of them even close to small enough to fit through that vent.

There are several scribbled notes on the chart and you read them over.

'Mental capacity is surprisingly high for such a creature.' Line runs to Spinners head.

'Strength of body is massivly increased to allow for larger size' Lines running multiple places on the body.

'Venom is extremely potent, fangs reinforced with same substance used in reinforcing Downfall bone structure.' Line running to the fangs.

There are a few others but they are close to unintelligible, likely written by the same person who couldnt seem to write good on the charts in the Harbinger room. At the bottom of the chart you notice a quick and precise grouping of words easily readable.

'Highly dangerous, excersise extreme caution around Unit's.'

There doesnt seem to be a mention of any defense systems on the chart.

I get my flashlight into my hand as I carefully lean into the room. I make sure to keep the canister where it is and the flashlight ready to blind anything which might leap out at me.

(You dont have a flashlight yet. The only flashlights gotten by people are from the room your entering right now.)

Oh, my bad there.

Being as silent as I can, I slowly make my way across the room. I keep my eyes and ears alert for any signs something's in the room with me. I come to a stop near the scattered objects and examine them.

"Spider-sense tingling" I say very quietly to myself. I'm effectively boned. If there's one trap there's probably more I just haven't seen yet. Right then I wished I had a something to use as a weapon. Picking up one of my flashlights I smack it into the meat of my head. Yeah that's a little better. (I'm assuming its like a Mag-lite and heavy so I can use it as a make shift club without breaking it.)

Taking my lighter out with my other hand. I flick it on and put the flame to the first of the four webs. "How about some fire Scarecrow?" My inner pyro is hoping this stuff is flammable and I can burn these motherfuckers in their own webs before they drop down on me. I'm very tense with every sense on alert. My muscles feel like coiled springs ready to propel me out of the way if something comes crashing down towards me.

You move the center of the room, though the emergency lights are dim the lights from the various tanks give more than enough illumination to see by, and enough to tell that what happened here had been one hell of a fight. There are items scattered around, many are broken but there are some that look intact. The first is a flashlight and after a quick test, with the light angled to keep it hidden, you find out the flashlight works perfectly. The next thing you find looks to be a large touch screen PDA unfortuantly it appears to be out of power. The last is a lighter.

(Yes that's the type of light it is.)

For a second it almost seems as though nothing will happen when suddenly the strand ignites. The fire rushes up into the darkness of the cieling and suddenly the cieling itself seems to light up. The fire spreads swiftly and in it's light you can see what looks like nearly a dozen large spiders and many smaller ones trying to flee only for the fire to catch up to them. Many of the smaller spiders quickly begin to descend webs to the floor only to have their own lines catch fire breaking and dropping them to a floor that is rapidly starting to get covered in buring silk falling from the cieling.

You quickly retreat to your entry point and watch from the safty of the hallway as the fire spreads until all the webs are burning. Several crashes are heard as the larger spiders charred bodies drop to the floor.

It takes several minutes but the fire starts to die down, there is no more running shrieking spiders and it looks like the fire managed to catch them all. The floor and everything else is covered in ash. Several piles of webbing in the corners still appear to be smoldering but the main webbing has been incinerated.

( It's like a rolled a 20 vs spiders)

"Holy Shit!" I say, completely surprised by how fast this stuff took flame. With globs of burning web falling around me I run like hell for the doorway I came in. I watch the spiders and almost feel sorry for them as one by one they either crash to the ground or are consumed by the fire in their webs. After the fire and the screams I lean out to see if anything coming down the hallway from the first room I was in and decide discretion if the better part of valor and pull the canister from the door. Seeing it apparently lock I was committed to trying the doors.

Walking I hear the soft crunch of web under my bare feet and decide to approach the door that had been heavily webbed. Checking it for a keypad i again stand to theside as I open it if I can.

I examine the desk, open any drawers and examine anything I find in the drawers. If I find anything about the defense system I read it, if I don't find anything I press the button, sighing at the doom I probably just unleashed on myself.

I examine everything I pick up.

Alright, now I can pull off the 'boot to the head' skit on some spiders if need be.

I also take the rest of the stuff that's salvagable off of him. I need food, clothes, and an inventory expansion. Also that security card could come in handy.

Anyway, I touch 'Yes' on the screen. Let's get the lights on.

I take the medkits and see if I have room in my lapcoat pockets for them, take two flash-lights and pocket one and pocket some spare batteries. Then I turn on one of the flashlights and pan it around the room checking if anything's interesting in the shadowy bits.

I take good, long look at the ceiling and check if there are any air vents, then I proceed to examine the chart. I try to turn on the TV then wave to the camera, and say "Anyone out there?"

I check the drawers of the desk for anything useful. I also look under and behind the sofa.

After I do all that, I put all my equipment on the floor, take off my lab coat, try to make some sort of a bag out of it, and put all the stuff in it.

I then sit in front of the computer, and see about finding out just what those 'defense systems' are.
