Stalin's NKVD would like to have a word with you. And a fair number of the inmate populace over at Camp Delta, and probably a number of wardens over in the various Baltic states.

It's never so much "you never existed" as "missing persons". And to hush people up? Hardly. It's generally done to people they want to have not very nice words with and don't want them on the loose.

It wasn't that long ago that the various "free nations" did their little jaunt of kidnapping foreign nationals to whisk them away to prisons without charge or send them to nasty little Mid East regimes so they could claim "We don't torture, though our allies might".

As a nano-augmented super soldier, there is no major player in the world who wouldn't want to put their hands on you, and if they can't get your willing cooperation to be their guinea pig, then they'll get it by force, if only to keep you out of the hands of their enemies who also won't play nice.

Like what Tabi said. Pretty much if you don't want to disappear into 'nothingness' (with even your entire public records file wiped clean as if you LITERALLY were never born/graduated/etc), you do what someone else mentioned - you come back with a battleship or better in orbit that is:

A. Immune to nukes. Any nuke up the Tzar Bomba.
B. Doesn't use green/yellow/red markings to display how to get into an airlock.
C. Armor is immune to anything less then a plasma-torch applied directly to the hull.
D. Has automated defenses aboard.
E. Has a synthetic intelligence, or a true AI, that is 110% loyal unto death to you, and you alone. And with orders to begin bombarding the planet's major cities if you go out of communications, or your bio-signs flatline abruptly/go haywire (aka, drugged).
F. Has orbit to ground capabilities ranging from 'Wide Area Stun' to 'It Just Blew Up Yellowstone'.

Once you have those six characteristics set, then you can go public and there isn't a damn thing any politician or General/Admiral can do without risking a global catastrophe. Yeah, you'll still likely end up dealing with the nutjobs, but they generally can't call in the firepower that a nation with a standing (openly public) military can bring to bear. That, and you're likely going to be wearing pieces of equipment that will make you near immune to anything less then the firepower said true military can bring to bear.

Reading that list he could maybe get a cabbit like Ryo-Ohki or Fuku. They fall almost in all of those categories and can jump with him.

I thought the general plan to was to cripple/destroy the Saint Cradle, not hijack it.

You set yourself up as 'the Doctor' and you'll spend 95% of the rest of your life running around trying to fix things, and keep aliens from wanting to genocide us all.

Cripple, then hijack. While it might not help our good Slider much (or at least not until he figures out how to work its dimensional drive without the cutest little control mechanism it's meant to be commanded by), it will be a nice independent 'base' he can use at will later on. Especially if he agrees with Hayate and has the hull virtually stripped of 90% of its weaponry, and makes damn sure to get rid of the ether/energy/whatever suction device that would have kicked in had it reached orbit between the moons of Mid-Childa. Then it's basically that dimension's biggest privately owned super-freighter & yacht. Also its a pretty good place to keep Quattro locked the hell up, if he can't break down her loyalties to Scageletti (Evil Scientist's Beautiful Daughter, and all that trope). Shut down a good portion of her cybernetics, plus the pre-existing Anti-Magic Field, and she's all but harmless.

Why would you want to do that? Just give her to TSAB in exchange for a warship that can be piloted by one person, and you're set.

Things that can convert her from menace to society, into a productive member of the Galaxy Union. Things that even Ryoko would think cruel and usual... And the Oni Hime's going to need a new play thing when Seina gets married.

None of them bode very well for Quattro.

All of them are hilarious. Well, except for one that almost falls under the category of Special Hell, but that's just one.
