There we go. Sorry for the delay, Easter obligations.

Situation - The Brightest Star has been hijacked, and is currently bearing down on the Hanger-on Bar. It may narrowly miss, or it may grind along the side, tearing a huge chunk of it apart. Currently, it's attempting to break away from the docks, and to bring the engines up to full power.

The monkey-like invaders seem mostly human, but are very nimble and capable of preterhuman acrobatics. Their limbs are omnijointed and dexterous, and obviously inhuman, otherwise, they're as strong and as resilience as an average soldier. Their primary weapons are throwing knives, which they have a decent supply; their body-suits and gloves are also magical, allowing them to adhere to walls and ceilings and to enhance their grip on people.

There are eight Crawlers onboard the ship. In addition, roughly fifteen of the crew are working with them (the mutinous dogs), including the first mate, who is an adept swashbuckler. All of them are armed with cutlasses and flintlocks, with the First Mate, David, packing a revolver and enchanted rapier. The captain is no-where to be seen, as are the rest of the 20 crewmen left aboard.

How close would my cafe be to the bar? I'd probably do ok against threse guys, hopefully.

Are there any mooring ropes left attached or is it close enough to jump over, or are we to be creative on ways to get onboard?

Well, if it's in a district right on the edge of the Great Docks, then it'd be fairly easy to ride out there. Still, you'll probably need an airboat, ship, or flying mount to pursue, as it will probably have broken away by then.

Might be hard to find one of those three things at a major air port.

There's probably a rope or two dangling; also, it's going to either pass very close to the bar, or is going to sideswipe it as it goes past. I've not decided yet.

I'd also welcome a creative method that isn't too silly.

I had to take a few mild liberties with my post, just to get the duo where I wanted them. The assumption was that Bosley and Lucille's leap onto the Brightest Star took place before it had fully pulled away from the pier. I apologize if it causes any confusion. That's what I get for taking so long to get my bloody post off...>.>

Nothing I said really invalidated what you did - I tried to incorporate your releasing the tow-lines and whatnot. Posting searching the wreckage just after a post where the ship was pulling up was a bit hasty, though (even if I did intend for it to crash).

The biggest thing is that passing through the storms means that your going to lose a lot of Vitrioleum fuel and suffer some structural damage ranging from moderate to extreme due to reactions with the clouds' Vitrioleum. It's a bit magic BS, but that's the reason why very few ships actually make it to the canyon floor (even ones with special shielding to their fuel supplies have to deal with their magically-light steel randomly fluctuating in weight and buoyancy).

If you'd like.

You can actually land in the canyon without crashing; you'll just need to do some repairs and find a source of Vitrioleum to replenish your stocks; enough to be able to fly under the storm until you find a break in the clouds. It'll take you a while, especially to find the fuel, but it can be done.

My basic idea was something akin to eccentric genius, inventor and cavalier gentlemen adventurer.
Basically a mix of Roaring Twenties Adventurer, Victorian Swashbuckling Hero with a generous dollop of inventive genius. (A scary mix of Bloody Stupid Johnson and Nikola Tesla and Doc Savage.)
