Why the double 40 mm?
Single 57 mm is pretty much all you need, and superior in most ways.

Because you can never have enough guns.

I think the forward turret needs to be taller - as is, either the pivot ends up really far forward, which leads to center of gravity issues when the turret swivels, or the elevation will be limited, which you don't want for a dual-purpose gun like this. I also think the hull is a little short for its width - right now it looks a bit slow, though I imagine it would be hard to capsize (good for really rough weather...)
Other than that, it's a neat design, I hope you keep developing it. :-) Cheers, SP |

If its for brown-water patrolling, it needs a few heavy machine gun or light auto-cannon mounts.

My inspiration ware those Swedish patrol boats, they have Anti ship missiles too. I just wanted something heavy armed that could hold it's own upto the highest threat.

Ok, maybe we are using different terminology. When I said brown water, I was referring to coastal COIN operations, not taking out the Soviet fleet in the Baltic. Some lighter weapons for use against boghammers might be a good idea.

There's brown water, and then there's brown water... For a brown water *defensive* ship, it's a bit on the small side but it's got decent armament. I just don't know if the VLS cells are deep enough, keep in mind that there's not much space under the waterline that far aft on a ship, and that the machinery needs to go somewhere.
For brown water *offensive* ops, you'd dispense with the anti-ship missiles (your larger assets would take out the opposing surface ships), in favor of troop landing capability (spec-ops insertions), and indirect fire weapons (anti-tank missiles to take out defenders, or mortars). Also, now the ship is a bit large for the job instead... Cheers, SP |

Not much deck space for crew to move around on during peacetime activities like S&R, boarding/inspection and the likes.
I'd move the VLS cells off the aft and onto the midships (though, they'd no longer be a vertical launch system) like on the Visby.

Should have a CIWS pod mounted. You can use it as a close-in gun instead of the 40mm and can use it as a gatekeeper against missiles.
Move the VLS forward, raise the turret, slim down the profile behind the turret, and put a CIWS on the tail, I think...

CIWS isn't strictly speaking necessary - there's plenty of boats in this size range that don't have it.

Update time, lengthened the boat to 61 meters, redid the turrets so the guns can fully elevate. Moved the vertical launch cells forward. Added a forward deck hatch and a aft deck door, am planning to make a mount on either side of the aft deck for a HMG like the M2. Did the windows for the bridge, that's it for now.

First renders just to try it out, changed around the bow and front deck a bit, added the APAR radar system to the sensor mast and added smoke stacks as well as some side hatches to launch the RHIB and for replenishment.

*Now* we're cooking with charcoal!
I'd move the VLS a little bit more forward and put the hatch on the front of the deck house, but that's just me. You might also want to pull the starboard screen hatch (the depression in the side) a little more aft. Then, stick the horizontal deck hatch on the forecastle... Then she needs some color. :-) SP |

I like the sleek, rakish lines. You have a wicked-looking ship... with appropriately long fangs.
![]() I can't say I know much about ship design, but don't most have some sort of open-air deck near the bridge to keep watch from? I think you could put one in right behind the bridge proper by removing the slope behind it... and then put the M2s up there, where they'd have slightly better arcs of fire, and the gun crews wouldn't have to worry about blast overpressure from the twin 40mm mount. Just a thought.

Nah, keep it as it is. Standing watches is what the windows are for... :-) Really modern ships, such as the Visby, don't have the open-air watch platforms you're thinking of.

Hm. It's smaller than a Visby, but has more guns - that's gotta affect endurance... (OTOH, it's larger than a Göteborg, and has more powerful weapons.)
Ah, well - looks nice.

It's smaller yes, but it has a larger superstructure due to it not having a helicopter pad. It also doesn't have the ASW/mine suite that the Visby has. It also has a smaller crew so less living space is required. So all in all endurance is pretty much the same as the Visby I'd reckon.
