Anyone up for Dwarf Fortress?

Anyone else interested in starting a Spacebattles community game of Dwarf Fortress? Maybe rotate leaders once a year, with the newest player first in line, and most recent last?

CURRENT PLAY ORDER:

1. Senyk
2. Firecrack
3. Uiunvil
4. Shimrod
5. ??????
6. Profit!

Come on, I know there are more DF players out there willing to take a turn.

I wouldn't dare touch Dwarf fortress - let alone play - with an eleven foot pole controlled by a cleverly designed system of pulleys and levers, but I would be interested in seeing the inevitable fallout.

A few things we need before we start... what sort of world and map are we going to begin with? Totally random, liveable, or something "Interesting(i.e. some terrible godforsaken wasteland, glacier etc)? Any requests for special features(magma, etc)?

Also, anyone who doesn't want to play can still request a Dwarf character.

Ehh.. I think going for something "somewhat" intersting but not too intresting would eb a good idea.

(ex: no 3500C deserts)

I even have a few fortresses to work with, one of which is, sadly, infested with Carp.

Working on it, but I'm running off wine on an olddddd computer, so world creation/searching takes forever, so if anyone has a hankering to start playing immediately, go ahead. Only request is that I be either a mechanic or brewer.

I could; I have, as I said, several old fortresses to start from, but also a new one in a volcanic marsh of which I am very fond.

I'd prefer if we start with new, untouched earth for the dorfs of Spacebattles. If you have the seed for that volcanic marsh and want to use it though, it sounds quite nifty.

Edit: My map generator has finally acceded to my unreasonable demands, and I'm starting a fortress. I can guarantee magma, but little else.

It's just a marsh with a couple magma pipes in it.

It's still a lot of fun though.

If you-all can tell me how to get the seed without abandoning the fortress, I'll do it.

Ork, just copy your reigon folder if you know how to get a seed after abandoning a fortress...

That's why i said specificaly to COPY your reigon folder.

Go into your DF folder

go into reigons

duplicate the reigon you are using

go into the game

go to continue your game

you will see two copies of the game you qwere playing

go into ONE and abandon the fortress in that one.

I've got a fortress started, it's on the top of a cold mountain, with one corner wooded and the rest barren, and partially haunted. There's SUPPOSED to be a magma pipe somewhere on the map, but the only visible feature when I got there was a bottomless pit. No sand available, flux is an unknown, and water is in small pools. If this is okay, I can post the first year of the fortress tomorrow.

I can work with that.

If you don't see the magma pool/pipe, if you can remember where it was on the Embark screen, it'll be there. I just don't know how deep.

And what is it with you and gabbro, FC?
