Or a few hundred base stars who go to town on them, while we have to clean up the mess.

1) Would it be plausible (ie not break SoD) for Earth to do this? 2) Does doing this serve the overall story? Currently, the limitations of KF Drive protect Earth as much as hinders Earth. |

Not necessarily. They could as well be the ones from Back Home. Those got no 'Chosen One' of any kind. Any no magic.
Still the idea of having a couple of Silent Blades sneaking up to a few ComStar/WoB ships and than slug them from knife fighting range (about 25000 km for them) has its merrits. Quote:

Not that duplicate naming as never come up in real life before. You just do like in Real Life and tack on a location qualifier. "Sol, Inner Sphere" vs "Sol, Grantville Cluster" for example. And it of course helps that the primary planet of each Sol is named differently, "Terra" vs "Earth". "Sol-T" vs "Sol-E"? In any case, there's eventually going to have to be a convention or something in-universe on how to handle the duplicate naming. |

Been thinking about that, and wondering if someone on C-Earth might sponsor research into it.

I hate to sound like the internet version of a little kid on a car trip going "are we there yet?" every few minutes, but did no one have any comments on my revised submission regarding O'Malley? Or did I forget to use some secret handshake to get the section recognized as something more than some whackjob street corner preacher shouting to everyone and no one?

![]() No, no secret hand shake. Usually when no one comments it means they've got no issues with it and your segment is good and has ticked all the boxes. Sometimes its just that you've posted when everyone is deep into some other aspect of the story/debating something and they just forget about it, next thing you know your post is already three pages in the 'past'.Anyway. I've got no problems with it going into the Story Thread. It's your story of a cannon-cocker employed in the Buron Cavalry - keep O'Malley's arc going - don't make this a one-shot, tell his story with multiple segments over time as events unfold showing his perspective and opinions of it.

If nothing else, since he knows even less about BT than I do (no minor thing, that ), as his story continues he'll have more than a couple of choice words about how the Inner Sphere does things.

Given that by author fiat, the days of the year match up on CEarth and Terra, how much opposition do you think the people of the CSN would have to moving their Calendar forward to synch up with the rest of the Sphere? Officially skip all the years from 2008 to 3024 (i.e. 31 December 2007 -> 01 January 3024)?

We can look at the Honor Harrington novels as they bring this up frequently. Our future colonies would be in the same situation, Homeworld for them is CEarth, but their local year could be significantly different.

"BECAUSE HE WILL KICK FASA-PHYSICS TO THE CURB!!!!!" That's why... In any case, I would suggest that any weapons research into the ISOT ends in spectacular failure, like temporarily bringing forth eldritch abominations forth who then wreak havoc upon the assembled researchers and military forces until BT verse physics reasserts itself and they vanish in a supernal flash... Then again, some Manei Domini might think that that was a successful weapons test. Better it just fizzles in a disappointing pop...

Sci Fi convention (and who knows, maybe even scientific) is to name planets after the star. Ie, Epsilon Eridani VI would be the sixth planet in the Epsilon Eridani system, not the sixth star to be named Epsilon Eridani.
That's why I suggested the "Sol-E" and "Sol-T" as the distinguisher, or just say "Sol, Inner Sphere" as opposed to "Sol, Granville Cluster". It's not like names have been duplicated before. Does a small town in a US state named Paris call itself Paris II just because there's another city in another country named Paris? No, you just say "Paris, StateName" and "Paris, France" to distinguish them. |

Well, at least no one will confuse Terra and Motherlode as the same world. They're hundreds of light-years apart!
