Batman vs. Solid Snake
He knows that the only entity in the room is the boss and he MUST kill him to continue to destroy metalgear deathklock. Snake is in peak physical, mental condition and has been giving octocamo. All observed feats including twin snakes are canon. Batman has NO PREP TIME AT ALL and is only carrying standard prowling gear, he doesnt know who he is facing. His objective is to knock snake out, get close and then knock him out for good. Because no vg/cartoon/movie batman could realistically take this, batman is comic batman. a. snake has equivalent equipment to the start of a MGS game (little to none) b. snake has reasonable weaponry (your choice: most likely some grenades, a pistal and something else) c. Snake has MAXED out inventory ala MGS4 but batman has preptime. For the purposes of this debate remember that snake will have no problems popping batman in the head.

Batman is good when dealing with criminal riffraff, but I do not think that he will be able to stop the world's greatest spec-ops commando.

I forget, does Solid Snake also know CQC, or is that only Big Boss's thing?

Yes he knows it. Dialogue in MGS4 from when SNake talks to Otacon mentions that Snake stopped using for MGS1 and 2 because he felt dirty using the techniques taught to him by someone who betrayed FOXHOUND. However after interest in Big Boss's life grew due to the declassification of Operation Snake Eater, everyone starts using it, so Snake decides to break his own CQC moves out. He even says that the stuff the mercenaries use is "cookie cutter".

Long story short, guy got his butt kicked and him remembering how his instructors always yelled in his face how no matter how well equipped he was, no matter how well trained, no matter how hungry for victory, there would always be someone better. So you can't really say that Batman in only good for dealing with criminal riffraff. |

Ummm... Batman could single handedly beat Superman easily with his own knowledge and was able to defeat a team of superpowered aliens all by himself in order to rescue his imprisoned teammates. I doubt Batman has problems dealing with Big Boss but should be a fair fight between these two.

There are so many villains Batman has beaten and came out on top. It's no joke. Batman eats him for breakfast like all the other mooks.

Oddly, I was just thinking of this. I drew a picture, but it's elsewhere.
I think Snake might win. If he uses his weapons and tools effectively. But in CQB, Batman wins. Hands down. He's the goddamn Batman, folks. |

I do believe we've had this out before.
To break things down correctly, we should first note the armaments of each individual before talking about their skills. This assumes the "typical loadout" option. Snake usually has a rifle, pistol, sniper rifle, knife, tranq gun, grenades, etc. He is usually not armored, although he might have a bulletproof vest on. Batman has his batarangs, grappling hook, various knockout gasses and sprays, gas bombs, and a ton of other stuff. His suit (in most incarnations, particularly modern) is bulletproof. Both rely primarily on stealth. My estimation is that neither will totally get the drop on the other. Both are skilled enough that it's a possibility, but they'd probably just surprise each other. Because Batman is protected from firearms, Snake will probably have time to get off only one or two shots before closing to hand to hand. In my estimation, Batman's armor, combined with his skill in hand to hand which in my opinion is better than Snake's, will allow him to win. Here are my odds. Snake kills Batman 3/10. Lucky shot during surprise phase or lucky ambush, or lucky victory in hand to hand. Batman wins 5/10. Mutual surprise, Snake shoots Batman, whose armor stops the shot, the fight closes to hand to hand, where Batman is victorious. Draw 2/10. One of the two gets the upper hand, and the combatant who is losing withdraws successfully.

Some further points.
Ive stated potential load outs in the OP. I'm not convinced batman could take this in close quarters. Snake's highest feets put him on a clearly superhuman strength and speed level (thank you twin snakes), and he has amazing skill in combat. How does batman take joe super soldier in a fight?

I believe I will summarize the close quarters combat simply. Batman has beaten Karate Kid in hand to hand. Karate Kid has beaten Superboy in hand to hand. Without superpowers. Stop and think about that for a second. Batman beat up someone who can thrash Kryptonians with no magic powers, just martial arts skill, with his bare hands. Granted, he cheated (KK was acknowledged to be a better fighter than Batman in hand to hand), but Batman always cheats, so it should be assumed he will here also.

So, a badass Spec ops legend vs some wanked out douche dressed in a bat suit (occassionally seen featuring nipples on the chest piece) who shacks up in a dank cave with a nubile young boy......er partner. Yeah, I'll choose Snake on this one from his Twin Snakes performance alone.

That's your evidence that Snake wins in a fight? Yea, wait a go. I have yet to see some concrete evidence that Snake could match up to Batman's standards. Especially when it comes to martial arts.

Unfortunately for Snake, Batman's abilities range from "Spec-ops level" to "Utterly, obscenely inhumanly capable." As an example, there is one incident where, despite being no more than 150ft away, and they are actively looking for him, both Superman and the Martian Manhunter have no idea where Batman is.
For reference, that's two individuals with super hearing, x-ray vision, telescopic sight, and telepathy. They can't find Batman in their immediate vicinity, despite having seen him not five minutes ago. Snake just isn't in that class. Frankly, no ordinary human being should be.

You underestimate 60+ years of comic wank.

Batman has been beaten up by random mooks before. In the end, he's a mortal man with peak human physical abilities. Take away his character shields and anything that would kill a man will kill him. This includes a bust from an assault rifle to the chest (soft armor can't stop bullets from any centerfire rifle).

Can you show me proof of when Batman has even been beaten by random mooks before? Because I would love to see that. And btw, Snake is old. I really doubt an old timer like him can keep up with Batman. So please stop wanking him to the point where it just seems ridiculous.
