The only option here that looks like a flag is number 4, on the other hand I don't think the writing is suitable, especially not given the association of Terra with the Earth in Comstar's control and CSN's plans to undermine Comstar. If the writing were removed (which I think is more suitable for a flag anyway) I'd vote for it, as it is I can't vote for any of them

Edit: on second thought number 1 is sort of flag like - I just don't like that one but if the slogan can't be removed from number 4 that's the only option.

According to Tychron the 1st one has everything in it that one would expect it to have: a picture of Earth, olive branches symbolizing peace, and the somewhat angelic figure symbolizing hope and the desire of the CSN to make things better not only for CEarth but for the rest of the Inner Sphere. Also unlike the 4th one the 1st one has the picture of Earth mostly covered by that angelic bird figure. And won't cause much problem when ComStar gets a look of the CSN flag.

Not saying he's wrong just saying:
1>I don't like it, primarily I think because the color scheme makes everything but the angelic bird seem redundant.
2>Given that CSN let the DC diplomats to Earth and made no attempt to hide that it's Earth (quite the opposite I gather) any attempt to mask the picture of Earth on the flag (which unlike the shape of the continents and the sun's spectrum have a dozen very simple and logical explanations which Comstar could not take offense at (not at least without looking ridiculous).

Couldn't we just pick a better color then white for the background of 1 then light and call it a day? Maybe a darker shade of blue?

Yeah, maybe a different shade of green. That lightish green is a bit horrible in my opinion. Maybe a nice forest green instead?

Maybe, on the other hand I suspect with those colors the angel would be back to dominating the image too much.

Oooo, I like that. That looks great for a battle flag.

As for the regular flag, that light green conflicts with the light blue and brigth yellow angel like figure. I would agree that the angel needs to be toned down slight, maybe a bronze? Th background should be darkened and also make the blue of theolive branches a bit darker as well.

That sounds like it would work. And looking at Walkir's latest post I'd say some shade of bronze angel with a 99cc00 background perhaps CC9933 for the angel?

Although thinking about it why, other than the no longer applicable reason of hiding the map do we have an angel on the flag? That seems to be a great source of arguments between Christians, Moslems and others (and it's not as if they were short of things to get into fights over)

Does Earth even still use Battle flags? In battle I mean.

But if you mean for subdued shoulder patches and the like, it should be black logo on an olive green background.

If you do what's the yellow thing? For that matter that was my reaction until I read it described as an angel even with the halo.
Take that as either your typical 'non Christian' reaction of typical 'unobservant idiot' reaction.

It's fairly abstract so I don't see most Moslems really objecting to the shape, just to it being described as an angel the question is since CSN it seems never had been planning to keep the fact that it was Earth secret (which IIRC was the reasoning behind adding the angel to the flag in the art thread) what was the reasoning in adding it? A reasoning that won't offend any major religion.
