Robotech-Macross/Halo crossover

This is new to me so tell me if I'm starting on the right foot here with this fic. Post any comments you might have on any portion of the story. Your comments ultimately make this story and any future story I decided to do better than the last. Episode one is a bit short but here it is.

(Edit-04/26/06- it has been sometime since my writing this story and the reason for this editing is mostly to compensate for past mistakes. When I originally wrote this story I didn't know of the concept of an alternate universe although I was familar with them (Such examples are the Gundam series. You know Mobile suit gundam and Gundam Wing and the like; Also start trek's alternate evil federation universe) So when I first wrote this story the concept of an AU (Alternate Universe) was in this story I just never out right said it well I'm saying it now. This is an AU and the events, tech and people envolved have changed or are going to but enjoy this story none the less)

**********

Robotech/Halo: Macross Saga

Episode 1: Further Revelations

“Initiate Hyperspace fold immediately!” Captain Gloval yelled.

Captain Gloval, attempting to use an untested Robotech device, inadvertently causes a disaster. Not only did the fold system transport the huge Battlefortress but also Macross city and it’s surroundings through the space-time continuum into deep space orbit of the planet Pluto, and even the wrong time period!

“I don’t know what happened, but our first priority is to get all the civilians from the shelters onboard the ship as soon as possible.” Captain Gloval said into his receiver. He put it down and turned his attention to other matters that might be more serious latter on. “Lieutenant Hayes have you been able to raise anyone at all?” Gloval asked.

“No sir I haven’t been able to raise either the Daedalus or the Prometheus sir. It doesn’t look good.” Lisa said to him.

“Hmmm…. I see. That’s bad. I mean those are aircraft carriers; they weren’t meant for outer space! How could I have been so stupid?” The scene of cars, concrete, and every other thing outside the bridge view port that was once apart of Macross island was still ingraining itself in his mind. ’What a catastrophe.’ He thought.

“Stupid chronometer.” Claudia said to herself. “What is it Claudia?” the captain questioned.

"Well, the clock reads the right time but it’s reading as February 19, 2552." Claudia replied confused.

“2552!” The captain said in amazement. ‘Could it be possible that we were sent to the future?’ he thought. His receiver rang twice before he picked up.

The mere strain of being 'a helpless captain on an untested ship with an inexperienced crew' had taken it’s toll on the Captain so far. “Yes I know. Is it possible? Okay... I understand keep me posted.” he put his receiver down and turned to bridge crew. “It seems our situation is far worse than expected.” he hesitated as he tried to word this bad news in a way that would not disturb his crew any further. “Dr. Lang, our chief engineer tells me that we seem to be in the future.” the crew was dead silent in the light of this new information.

“The future?” Claudia said after taking in this new information. “How can that be possible?” Lisa asked. “I don’t know. I just hope earth still exists.” Gloval said.

**********

The sensor operator aboard the ONI prowler Circumference couldn’t believe the data that was coming up on his track. The sensors on the Circumference detected a large slip space entry near Pluto orbit, but the signature was not Covenant or UNSC. “Sir?” the operator said to get his commanders attention. “Yes son, what is it?” Commander Repine said to his Operator.

“I have a large Slipspace entry near Pluto orbit sir. The…”

“It can’t be the Covenant!” the commander exclaimed. “They don’t even know the location of Reach yet!”

“Well sir.” The operator interjected. “It matches no known signatures we have on record.”

“Really.” the commander said. “Are you sure ensign? Do you have Excalibur working on it?” the commander asked.

“Yes sir, the Ship AI is working on it.” the operator replied. “Good. Excal…” The Ship AI’s hologram silhouette came alive near the operator’s console. “You wont believe what are sensors have picked up!” Excalibur said. “What is it?” questioned the Commander quickly.

“It’s the SDF-1! It has returned!” exclaimed the AI.

“The SDF-1, my god, it has returned.” the commander said in a relieved sigh. “Prepare to hail them.” he added.

**********

"A breif intermission is required." a random voice said.

You need to brush up your Robotech/Macross. The bridge crew of the SDF-1 didn't know that they folded to Pluto as first. Neither did they know that they pulled Macross Island with them.

Actually my story takes place around Episode 4, The Long Wait, in the Robotech series, when they already crashed on the surface of Macross Island, and already knew that they were in Pluto Orbit as per the end of Episode 3, Space Fold. If you have the episode The Long Wait and read some of the dialogue in this story, it would almost read verbatim to the Episode's dialouge. I was shooting for the feel of the original story when I did that.

Good start to a hopefully long and glorious story, if the author continues to its conclusion, will you complete it?

Not so much of a nose dive than a decline. Slipspace drive is a crapy version of the SDF-1's Fold system that the Humans "supposedly" made by themselves. The beams weapons on Oberth and AMRD are scraped for more long range ordinace incase the Zentradi reappear ala SMACs. And the SMAC are a cheaper versionof the main gun on the SDF-1.

I will complete this story. Will it happen in a timely fashion? Hopefully, if everything remains the same or shifts slowly in a way that I can adapt. Currently I'm still doing alot of extensive research on both universes. So if i don't post within a few days, I'll still be jury rigging these stories toghether.

...Uh, SMACs are gigantic kinetic weapons. The SDF's main gun is a generic anime beam cannon of doom. They're two totally different weapons. Though I suppose you could say that the SDF's main gun is a carrier beam for some sort of ultra high-velocity slug...

That'd be hard to believe, considering that ships 'near' the beam get blasted away slowly.

The main gun is wide area particle beam cannon powerful enough to insenerate damn near anything unlucky enough that gets in it's way. That doesn't quite compare very well to some sort of super rail gun.

Actually, the question would be what happened to the Invid, the Zentradi and the Masters...

And, well, it kind bugs me that the cronometers would know the "true time" rather than marking subjective time of fold...

To be honest, I think you'd make things easier, both for you and others, if you use the mis-fold as some sort of dimensional displacement

A mega-shotgun, perhaps?

...

Nah.

The main cannons basically an oversized proton beam. Neat trick is that when the protons strike a hard material target, you get antiprotons.

Basically, it's the same weapon that Star Trek calls a disruptor. Just really big.

Oh, and those four long cannons we see on the 'shoulders' of the SDF-1 are rail guns. Those are probably the ones he meant that evolved into SMACs.

Oh, that's easy.

It's just synchronized to one of those 'atomic clocks' which broadcasts a continuous time signal.

Of course, it might not be accounting for the realspace distance.

The real surprise is that the same time signal is still being used after all this time.

Still it's funny.

When the AI Asigned to the Macross arrives. The crew's reaction is less then enhusastic.

AI: Hello captain Gloval, I'm HAL.

Will the Covenant be in for a shock.
Say, are the Masters..........forerunners?
Or something close to it?

Could the Invid and the Zentradi have become part of the Covenant?
Neaaa, they probably fond a very damaged ship from the Zentradi.
Wonder, has the Invid anything to do with the Flood?

These are valid questions. I thought of them myself when I started to jury rig the stories together. I won't answer them outright but i will as the story progresses. I'll try to update either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

If you have any futher questions or concerns pertaining to the workings of the story plot just pm me. I don't want anyone to reveal any information that could inadvertanly reveal the entire story plot before I finish the story.
