  1. 100thlurker Shadow Cabal Space Pirate Hussar

Even if it was entirely Void Dragon stuff, the Emperor kicked his ass. He clearly did not think the C'tan's influence to have been anything worth worrying about.
  2. Against 29th Century Feds? Not a chance.

We know very little, but what we do know is that 26th Century, according to the designer of the Ent-J was using drives far faster than transwarp, and exploring other galxies. We also know that future Feddies can scan time, similar to the Time Lords - in many ways they could be considered lesser time lords.

If anything I would consider that 40k stuff is the equivalent of 27-28th Century Federation.
  3. Captain Orsai Raven Guard Chaplain

Yes, there is indeed the fact that Emps - Saint George, as he was in mufti as then - rather resoundingly beat the Dragon the last time they had it out. :)

I think he meant this one:

  6. shipmastersane we know our DOIT and we will duty..!

good point. I think Q would try to prod Geom into getting the minimperium more enlightened.
  7. Stargrave Steampunk Napoleon

Why would Q care about the level of enlightenment in the Imperium?
  8. shipmastersane we know our DOIT and we will duty..!

probably the same reason he cares about the level of enlightenment in the federation, or hell, one ship.

also, isn't it implied several times that he's the one on the lookout for the high tier (or emerging high tier) beings around? the Geom would probably count.
  9. Shrike First-class Gamillon

Cloaked romulan fleet with TDIC weapons warps in, alpha strikes the planet and calls it a day.
  10. the atom a.k.a THE TROOPER

I have a feeling they'd be picked up by the vast multitude of psykers in the area well before then.
  11. BeRzErKeR Indigent Madman

Cloaked fleet warps in and is detected by astropaths, Holy Terra's ludicrously powerful defense network blows them out of space and calls it a day.
  12. the atom a.k.a THE TROOPER

Actually I very much doubt the Romulans would try to pull a stunt like that again after what happened with the Dominion.
  13. Shrike First-class Gamillon

You mean all those astropaths that aren't used as sensing devices and aren't tied into fire control systems for weapons that can't engage targets moving at warp speed?
  14. 100thlurker Shadow Cabal Space Pirate Hussar

    Ooh, burn.
  15. BeRzErKeR Indigent Madman

I mean all those astropaths that every single warship in the IoM has on board as a critical part of their FTL communications and sensory networks, yes, as well as all those astropaths which are deployed as recon assets aboard smaller craft such as fighters (from the Gaunt's Ghosts novels).
  16. the atom a.k.a THE TROOPER

    What's this about warp speed?
  17. Shrike First-class Gamillon

Are those psykers tied into fire control systems? Can they tell the guns where to shoot? Sensor stealth via technological means (holofields, necron stealth, etc) is pretty effective against the IOM. Neither of those is outright invisibility.

And how do you think Trek ships travel around if not warp drive?
  18. I have a question. Well, two.

Didn't the Breen do this very thing in The Changing Face of Evil, suffer heavy losses and only succeed in bombarding San Francisco/Starfleet Academy/Starfleet Headquarters? If this is the only damage the Breen fleet caused to Earth, why would the Romulans have more success with Holy Terra?
  19. the atom a.k.a THE TROOPER

As pointed out earlier (which is why I deleted the redundant part of my post), astropaths have been used as recon assets on small fighters. But that's just the astropaths, to say nothing of the many high level psykers that are likely present.
Impulse I'd imagine. At least that's what they do when attacking surface targets.
  20. Deadguy2001 Pet Class Angeloid

They have. Do you need the quotes because I can do some digging.
  21. Dusel Loving Smiles!

Answer - they wouldn't be able to, to add to that the damage will be so little the people will likely not even realise that it was a Xeno attack.
  22. That's my thinking as well. The Romulan/Cardassian fleet got off their volleys and subsequent analysis because nobody was shooting at them at the time. By contrast, the Breen fleet probably ran right into a meat grinder/pitched battle - even with the audacity of the strike and their own cloaks (I think it's in TNG's Hero Worship where it is mentioned that Breen have cloaks), Damar comments that most of the Breen attacking force was destroyed by Starfleet.

Against Terra where the defences are likely to be more impressive in quantity and quality and I'm not wholly convinced that the surprise 'cloaked warbirds + Alpha strike' would do more than die faster.

(Memory Alpha even suggests that the minimal amount of damage caused means that no Breen capital ships actually survived to attack Earth and the damage we see was caused only by light attackers and fighters.)
  23. Doesn't using the Star Trek online timeline mean the Klingons get the Doomsday machine?
  24. Ironanvil1 Looking for Dinsdale

Generally, with varying degrees of kicking and screaming when the IoM representative turns up in orbit and says "you're human, deal with it, here's a complimentary signed piccy of the Emperor and your first tax bill - please be a prompt payer".
  25. shipmastersane we know our DOIT and we will duty..!

would the emperor himself be keen on this sort of thing in a more or less harmless galaxy?

I earlier brought up the possibility that Q would revive and proceed to speak with the emperor in an attempt to push the imperium into a more reasonable path.
