A different Earth in 40k: A Glorious Golden Future? Part 9

  1. It is exactly the kind of thing some Solar Exalted and Infernal Exalted would do, and the Abyssal Exalted would go for the lulz while the DB would go after all those crazy bastards out of sheer principle. Add Lunar Exalted to taste.
  2. Hazard Stop poking already

Yes it does. However, how likely do you think it is that lazy mclazypants is going to step away from raiding the Black Temple on his own at lvl 71 for the challenge, when he can instead just tell his Chosen to look into it? From that point onward it will snowball.

Then again, I'm fond of hyperbole.
  3. Mandalayain Mand-Ra, the Ever Scheming.

The general agreement thus far was to not let Creation know we exist, until we have the power to steamroll everyone, and everything. While eating cake.
  4. Fair fights are for dead guys.

Fair fights are the ones I cannot lose.
Lord Sia and Robotninja like this.
  6. Garlak "Lag is coming."

Okay. This makes sense. Good reason, good policy.

... This doesn't. Creation isn't a world of Lawful Stupid. Or a world full of mindless caricatures.

I will grant the possibility that the Unconquered Sun might give visions to his Chosen... but that would probably be limited to his Zeniths. And even then, how many of those guys are going to go haring off into the Deep Wyld for something like this?

And then why the hell would Abyssals/Infernals follow, when they can just take advantage of the Solars leaving to [kill/conquer (strike out whichever inappropriate(] Creation faster?

And the Lunars would follow.. um, just because they're Lunars and they don't really do anything or think anything unless a Solar is involved?

And the Sidereals don't really have anything better to do but head out somewhere beyond Fate and their support system in Yu-Shan...

And the Dragonblooded would care to - you know what I think I've made my skepticism clear already.

If this is how you actually think, then you'd be applying this sort of thinking in judging other situations... and generally having that come bite you in the ass.

    EDIT:
    Yeah.

"Too much bother, too much risk, no real gain, do it later if at all" is a good reason.

"OMG THEY'LL ALL RUSH US! It's going to be Manifest Destiny all over this place!!" which is what a few of the objections seemed to be, kinda left me going "Huh?o_O Really?"

Probably exxagerations on their part, just... Kinda lulzworthy.
  7. linkhyrule5 Hero of Time

The problem is numbers. All it takes is for one Solar to come back with an army of Tyranids for everyone to be interested. And there are 150 of them.
  8. Rask Amused Zergling

Well, I do have some truly terrible (rating at least 20 Sidereals) ideas that I might implement later.

But for now, I suggest our only contact with Creation, or rather Malfeas, should be Makarios the Dream Merchant. Because he can sell us goodies we couldn't get at otherwise.
  9. It's been a while since I check the books. But isn't he a Second Circle of the Ebon Dragon?

EDIT: Also are we rating bad ideas in Sidereals now?
  10. Rask Amused Zergling

    Yes.

    Well, it makes sense.
  11. No thanks. 2nd circle souls are important enough to notice, and merchants trade in info as much as goods. We don't want the Yozi to be aware of us until we seduce their 50 Infernals into becoming Heretics under our guidence. This would be after we had millions of DBed minions to murder them if they get out of line, of course.
  12. Rask Amused Zergling

Well, the alternative is a looong trip through the Labyrinth culminating in an expedition into the Wyld to manually catch a Raksha.
  13. Or we(Dakka) can Wyld Shape One up. I'm fairly certain Solars can do that, as it is very hard to emulate a Fae invasion without making the Fae for it. Operation Wyldhand therefore shows that they can do it.

(I doubt it is in theme for SWLIHN)
  14. Rask Amused Zergling

I don't think so. Wyld Shaping creates order from chaos, so it's out of theme. It also creates Essence 1 mortals, so you aren't getting a useful Raksha out of it even if it works. Just some kind of hobgoblin. Which won't turn into a noble, since it needs a noble to open a second feeding Grace for it.
  15. Lord Sia Sorcerer-Lord

This is brilliant. We need a graph with a logarithmic curve and a set of formulas to calculate based on the havoc caused by an idea. Of course, it would be open-ended, with the most brilliant ideas (like Theion listening to the Shadow Of All Things when he created the Unconquered Sun) going 100+.
  16. Durabys Your little Eldritch feline demon..meow!

    non-player

By 'most brilliant ideas' you mean those that are 'the most moronic, quasi-impossible quests that you work yourself off as a pack mule to accomplish and still will absolutely backfire on you in a most spectacular fashion somewhere down the road at the most inconvenient moment and place possible' ideas?
  17. Finbar Minon #34

Yes.....absolutely.....but it just adds to plot :)
  18. DakkaMania Techpriest

No, I can't shape Raksha. Operation Wyldhand was basically done by detonating a few Reality Engines or Protoshimaic Vortices so the Wyld got into Creation. The Fae were just pouncing on a perceived opening. Or some Eclipses convinced them that a war would be an awesome story.
  19. Rask Amused Zergling

Unrelated: we should research and create Monstrances of Celestial Portion.

No, this isn't a Sidereal idea.

The Monstrances will allow us to link our Abyssal Exaltations to them so they don't go flying off randomly if we die. Even better, it lets us freely choose who they will Exalt next. Furthermore, with a little bit of Void Circle Necromancy, we'll be able to recover the Exaltations of any Abyssals we are forced to slay during the game. This is in addition to the advantages of having something that can hold an Exaltation so we can study it.

Of course, our version should have a few modifications. The automatic memory pruning needs to go. Cleaning off memories should be a choice, since we might want to get rid of anything an objectionable Abyssal might have left on it.

Guys, I do believe I already posited the possibility of me creating a few Raksha from scratch. I mean, Lunar = can create Graces from Raksha (and thus Graces from Daemons), so I should be able to work my way to the higher levels. There is however one problem with it.

It makes Raksha, when the only way we can travel around to other star systems is through the Warp.
  21. Rask Amused Zergling

Ahhhhhh don't make Graces from Daemons that's a terrible idea. Graces aren't equivalent to each other. You'll end up with Graces corresponding to Nurgle, Tzeentch, Khorne, and Slaanesh instead of Ring, Staff, Sword, and Cup. I'm not sure if you have Moonsilver Tattoos, but if you do, keep in mind that they only protect your body from Shaping effects.

As for alternative travel options, we could use the Labyrinth if you don't mind the occasional spectre or hekatonkhire.
  22. Hazard Stop poking already

I do in fact have Moonsilver Tattoos, but something to remember is that Graces refer to Creation Virtues, and daemons from all appearances use a different but related Virtue system.

Graces should confirm to Raksha Graces, but yes, it's a risk. Unfortunately, I have no way to form Graces ex nihilo, and the Charm that allows me to forge my own Graces only works on me, which is rather annoying, getting a 'safe' method of forging Graces would turn it into a speedbumb.

That said, I don't mind Laughing into the Teeth of Madness, and it's a fairly simple Charm.
  23. Rask Amused Zergling

No, there can be many, many different Graces. The canonical Way Grace for example is completely unrelated to Virtues. Any Graces you'd get from daemons would be Chaos Graces.
  24. Hazard Stop poking already

True, except that the Charm in question, Shifting Wyld Tides, is specifically called out as creating a Cup, Staff, Ring or Sword Grace and nothing else.

It does have a few problems with it however, not least of which is that I'd need to hunt Fair Folk. That's rather difficult when there are no Fair Folk around. Looks like I really do need to look into creating Graces from nothing. Bother.
  25. DakkaMania Techpriest

There's also a Hearthstone that protects from insanity. I think we issued one to everyone for fairly obvious reasons.
