Does that mean that essence use screws up predictions beyond any reasonable margin of error or that excessive Essence use produces too many variances and any prediction becoms nigh-useless because it's only a 'maybe'?

Difference between static and only getting % variables on how likely something is to happen.

And how does this loop interact with scientific knowledge? Any chance of moving data back in time to speed up research cycles?:p
  2. Alectai Mercenary Captain

I wouldn't rely on this honestly, all it takes is someone introducing a little variable in your equations discreetly and the whole thing starts falling apart.

In fact, I would advise against this alltogether, it's too easily tampered with.
  3. Its more like essence use causes multiple possible futures to exist more strongly, and any attempt to see them shows you all of them. You can at best get an impression as to what is likely.

In any case, details like what is written down on things cannot be clarified enough to be made readable. It is much easier to read events, feelings, and emotions.
  4. DakkaMania Techpriest

It's not exactly meant to be a cure all, but more to get an additional data source for stuff Finbars Auditors and linkys efforts miss.

Events is still vague. That way, we can just as well have some dude read the list and Scry him. If the data is accurate enough to reconstruct a spell, then lip-reading some guy should be trivial.
  5. Wha?
  6. linkhyrule5 Hero of Time

Part of the description of the Scrying Stone explicitly states you can reconstruct a spell by scryin on someone casting it.
  7. Not so much, it merely states that you can potentially view a long dead sorceror casting a spell. It makes no mention of you being able to learn the spell from that. It seem much more likely that you would recieve such a vision when you're looking for an answer to a question like 'what is preventing me from restoring this land to fertility?'

Oh, and I was wrong about the multiple futures thing. It will always show you one possible future. No information is given as to whether it is a probable future, however.
  8. DakkaMania Techpriest

Even if they are false alarms, a hundred of those are better than one real one we missed.

And I did look at the Chaos Sorcerer doing the Teleportation to defend aganist Rasks sandblast. It was enough to get a general idea of what and how it happened.
  9. A general idea of what and how isn't nearly enough to learn a spell, however. That just tells you what the spell did.

    Finbar:

Mikel Andropov, Solar Eclipse. Ties to former KGB, and many other intelligence agencies. Getting a call from his Russian General friend who runs a psyker research group. Current xp: 140/190 + 20 time + 28/20 RP = 188/230

    Hazard:

Johanna Frederika Wilhelmina Elizabeth van Brummen, Lunar No Moon. Biologist, multi-doctorate, scientist. Also near an issue. Current xp: 140/190 + 20 time + 35/20 RP = 195/230

Also, I should think of something nice for Rask. Just during this period alone, if I wasn't capping RP awards, he would have earned 56 points. And this isn't the first time he's done this sort of thing, either . . .

Also, Planet info as of 2020:

    Delicious XP :3
  12. Oh Cerillian. How do you make me so happy and so fearful for my life all at the same time?

As a side note, I added the Planet Info to the OP. For that matter, I'll be adding the current XP balance of everyone too.

EDIT: XP Balances are up on the OP. That ought to make things simpler for everyone in the future.
  13. Apparently there's a lot of xp to spend yet for everyone.
  14. Alectai Mercenary Captain

    Fffufuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Use the bomb you fool! Sending an an attack force will cause a bloodbath! Considering our greatest enemy is the Blood God, our best response is burning them to ashes instead of shooting them all
  15. Hazard Stop poking already

Alectai you are wrong. First call the troops and have them suit up for combat in a radioactive battle ground. Then, immediately following, nuke the place to the ground.

If they had listenend to us, this wouldn't have been necessary. Possibly.
  16. Aww, don't feel too bad. If you'd prefer, just think how it would have worked out if you guys hadn't gotten involved?
  17. Alectai Mercenary Captain

Pretty much that, there wouldn't have been any contingencies then!
  18. GOD FUCKING DAMNIT!

Nuke those bastards! Right the fuck Now!

    Damn it!

Manda, get ready. Odds are good we'll need that banishment power of yours ready soon. Rask, Sia? Finish up on the Hulk, get it on the Moon and get back to Earth as fast as possible.
  19. Hazard Stop poking already

We'd have lost most of Northern Asia at minimum.
  20. linkhyrule5 Hero of Time

    ...what.

Okay, how the heck did I miss this?! EST is pretty worthless at this if it can't pick up an entire research center going rogue....

Argh. Okay, Cerillian? When did we get these experience points IC? Can we spend them on Charms and use them immediately?
  21. Heh, you know the setting is bad enough when Exterminatus is not only a valid tactic, but it is vital to keep things going.

I just wonder how a Nanoha/W40k crossover would go. The Imperium being "befriended" or Nanoha calling Exterminatus herlsef.

Can you guys take samples of Orks DNA and find what makes them chaos proof? You'd think by now they would be all Korne's thralls...
  22. The main issue is that using the nuke may be what the Lord of Change wants us to do. Still, it's likely the best of our choices.

It's clear that we don't have enough measures in place for averting Psyker research subversion. We need the impact of outright Charms rather than simple mundane methods and checks.
  23. Could we try to develop a Directional/Planetary Charm like Taboo Inflicting Diatribe that will shut down Psyker Research that isn't authorized by us?
  24. EST will detect such a thing once more than 100 people involved know that they're involved with Chaos.

Personally, I wouldn't rely on EST for uncovering secrets. Thats not really what its there for.

Actually, Taboo Inflicing Diatribe can work at planetary scale, if you can make the rolls.
  25. Far stricter than that. We need to make dealing with Daemons utterly Anathama to our people.

First, we have enough knowledge to be able to check on active psykers. Any active research not under our control should get everyone involved killed. They are risking the entire planet.

Personally, I think we should have the research inside CPI areas so that we can be mostly certain that they will not sell out to Chaos. That's just my opinion, however.
