    Spending those XP is hard.

I have 31 XP to spend of which 8 are slated for 'Integrity Protecting Prana', leaving 23 XP.

    I can either buy:

Martial Arts 3, Fists of Iron Technique and Thunderclap Rush Attack (Or Dragon Coil), Awareness 2 and Leaping Dodge Method which gives me a Join Battle of 4, Accuracy of 8 as well as 8L damage. Dodge DV is 6. My Soak is currently 7L/6B/5A. Hardness 2.

The other option I see is Martial Arts 2, Awareness 1, Resistance 3 and the Charms Durability of Oak and Iron Kettle.

That build results in +10 Soak (12 if Lightning Prism would work scene long if used by activation), DDV 6, Accuracy 7 and 8L damage. Join Battle is at 3.

My only other combat related charms are Shadow Over Water, Seven Shadow Evasion and Reflex Sidestep Technique.

My equipment as far as relevant for combat is Discreet Essence Armor (7L/7B/5A and Hardness 3) which allows for the use of Durability of Oak. Infinite Resplendence Amulet which has only a Soak of 1 for all, but allows me to carry around absurd amounts of equipment. Meaning I get a Soak of 18. The Adamant Skin Stone makes sure I only get bashing damage and if Robo gives me a Heroic Stomach Bottle Bug I can even recover from what does get through.

Jade Hearthstone Bracers reduce Speed by -1.

My weapon is a pair of Orichalcum Gloves of Martial Readiness that I modded a bit to fit into 2.5.

    Gloves of Martial Readiness
    Speed 5, Accuracy 2 (+2) , Damage 5L/2, PDV: 2 (+1), Rate 3 (+1), Tags: M, O

Can you guys give me an idea what I should do?

OTOH, if I drop one dot in Martial Arts or Awareness I can buy Banishment (if it stays at the 1 XP cost of psyker abilities). Considering that I get at least 18 dice using it, maybe +1 as I have a Speciality for Warp and a TN of 4 I should be able to slap on a hilarious amount of penalities on the poor sod I hit. For the one try I did just now I had 13 Successes. Meaning a penality of 9. My WP roll I just tried clocked in at 10 Successes.

So if I understand the mechanics right, the Daemon I try to banish would have needed at least a permanent willpower of 10 to even begin rolling past the penalities. And his only chance is to only roll 10's.

Btw, I'd like to have stats on Force Bolt, Stop Projectiles, Precocnitive Strike and Precocnitive Dodge if that is possible.
  2. If? Of course I'll be giving you one if you ask for it.

As a note, Manda I would really like it if you could spare a day or two to create an Amalgam or two with Above All Others. As is, I can only listen in to one of the big four's prayers at a time, which could be. . . bad. Some amalgams to listen in on each of them would really help.
  3. DakkaMania Techpriest

I'd also listen in on the Emperor and the Omnissiah if he is considered seperate. Reason?

"Machine Priest! As a sacrifice, you present me the blueprints for X!"

    And for Chaos?

"Of course you can have great strength! Now write down the names and details about your comrades, carry that list to the next Arbites office and preach of the glory of Chaos."

"...now go and run around in 'I love Chaos' T-Shirts."

"...gather your armies and pick a fight with the next Guard regiment while only using martial arts. And no armor. No, I don't care that you don't know any Martial Arts. But we could always make a deal."

As for desolation? The whole 40k galaxy is as desolate a hellhole as it can get. Earth is no better. No real religion that worships actual gods, greed running rampant and it invented 4chan. Can't get more spiritually desolate than that.
  4. I plan to do stuff like that, yes. But right now, all my attention is needed to keep Chaos away from us.
  5. Hazard Stop poking already

Dakka, something important to remember is that 'martial arts' doesn't mean unarmed fighting. It's an expansive term that means 'everything involved in fighting.' This includes things like logistics, strategy, the use of weapons and vehicles of all sorts and unarmed fighting.

This is just a meaning that has mostly slipped from the modern mindset.
  6. Lord Sia Sorcerer-Lord

    HAH! I AM VINDICATED!
  7. DakkaMania Techpriest

He was a volunteer who had all the risks explained to him. That he thought we were kidding is not our problem.
  8. Lord Sia Sorcerer-Lord

So? I volunteered as well, remember?

    And while I'm at it...

    WOHOO!!!

Another 54 exp?! Hours, days, a freaking month of the agony of choice selecting four charms, and now I can afford another five? Argleblargle...
  9. Yeah, okay. I know this is a really unlikely thing, but do any of you guys live in Melrose Park and are looking for a pair of dogs?

I found a couple strays running around my block about fifteen minutes ago and just spent most of that time chasing them down. They're both pretty young, not much older than a year or two I'd say.
  10. Lord Sia Sorcerer-Lord

Sorry, not a dog person - besides, my roommate is allergic.
That, and I live in Sweden.
  11. Mhm. And I remember Manda mentioning that he lives in Florida in another game. So that's two down. And the rest of you?
  12. linkhyrule5 Hero of Time

    Got a dog already :p.
  13. Finbar Minon #34

    I live in Australia.........
  14. Hazard Stop poking already

Dutchman. Bit of a walk to get there Nerva.
  15. Well doesn't matter anyway. Dogs' owners came by and got them. So that's good. Now I don't have to worry about running interference between four dogs.
  16. Lord Sia Sorcerer-Lord

Ok, I've invested in Instinctive Strength Unity, Burrowing Devil Strike, Consumptive Worm Hungers, Frenzied Bear Fortification, Indestructible Recursive Design, Limb-Shielding Growth, Silver Lunar Resolution and Essence-Gathering Temper (Now in Silver!). Also, a bit of Integrity, one dot in Occult and the psychic powers Resist Possession and Hammerhand.

Basically, using Brutal Attack and Fury, I can roll up to 36d+1S to hit for 40L base damage that ignores armour. Of course, this is only when I'm doing it Giant Shark style... My "human" form is limited to 20d+1S to hit for 25L, ignoring armour. Of course, each such hit costs 10m+1wp, but still.
Chaos Terminators are yummy chum. Ah, Exalted; where OP is SOP and FUBAR is SNAFU.

    +++

EDIT: Strike that, just got the numbers from the BOSS - while I can still one-shot them, they hit like the little monsters they are; seriously, it's eight to ten levels of aggravated damage on average, per hit. I can't insta-regen aggravated damage, and soak defence is useless against "ignores soak" effects.

  17. DakkaMania Techpriest

Would an Adamant Skin Stone help? It turns all damage into Bashing.

    @Manda

    Your equipment:

    Hybrid Armor (3 dot)

    Soak 9
    Hardness 6
    Mobility -1
    Fatigue 1
    Attunement 8

    Environmental Seal

    Sight Enhancement
    - Sensory Acuteness (+2 to all Awareness checks)
    - Essence Sight
    - Night Sight

Perfected Boots (+3y/t to Move, +6 to Dash)

    Cloaking Device

Vitality Boosting Subsystem (regenerates 1 bashing damage per action)

    Weapon:

    Daemonpyre ☼☼☼☼
    Description:
The barrel of this miniature railgun is as long and as thick as a man's forearm. It is inlaid with bands of red jade for the coveted glowy-line-tech look, as well as for overheating ammunition passing through it. Unless attuned to for 10m, the massive pistol is too unwieldy to properly aim - and incapable of firing in the first place, since it has no mundane loading mechanism. Its grip has a socket for a hearthstone of at least rating ☼☼, which is used to power the weapon and provides no further benefit. An attachment point for a bayonet exists, but is currently empty.

    Powers:
For the price of one mote, Daemonpyre may produce and fire a miniature essence javelin that is capable of hurting dematerialised creatures. If the attack inflicts fatal damage on daemons or other spirits, they are slain permanently, as if destroyed by Ghost-Eating Technique (without the mote-regaining effect).
    Essence Projectile (1 mote): Speed 5, Accuracy +3, Damage 10L, Rate 2, Range 300 Str 1, Piercing

If fed five motes, the red lines decorating Daemonpyre flare brightly, and its next shot detonates as it passes through its target, doubling the attack's base damage. It retains the anti-spirit properties of a normal-power shot.
    Overheated Projectile (5 motes): Speed 5, Accuracy +3, Damage 20L, Rate 2, Range 300 Str 1, Piercing

    Misc:

Skin Mount Amulet with 5 dot Hearthstone = +10 Motes
Cache Egg, 3 dot (stores a lot of stuff)
Stomach Bottle Bug (your own medic that sits in your guts)
    Sorcery Capturing Cord (3 dot)

    Total Attunement: 18 motes
    Effective Attunement: 8 motes

    Is this to your liking?

The Cord should be able to hold your banishment at the ready and allows you to release it for 1 wp as a misc. action. At least it should do so if it's not more powerful than Terrestrial Circle Sorcery.
  18. Finbar Minon #34

I think, aside from the Cord, I'm going to have the same.............

Along with one or two of the other things you came up with for me. Dang, that gun is fun. Especially since I do have Ghost Eating Technique..... does that mean it stacks?
  19. Alectai Mercenary Captain

Yeah, any advanced PA we make needs to have an Anti-Power Field effect to make sure we don't get one-shotted by those things X_x
  20. DakkaMania Techpriest

    Knock yourself out.

You can't kill them deader than dead. In your case, Ghost Eating would be superior as it allows you free use of the Charm as it gives you motes for killing spirits.

But a discount on motes is not exactly viable as it is already as low as it gets. Maybe something like 1 mote per X shots. But I'd have to ask Cerillian.
  21. Finbar Minon #34

Actually, I was thinking, since it effectively has two ghost eating techniques, does that mean I gain back extra motes?
  22. Mandalayain Mand-Ra, the Ever Scheming.

Yes. Yes that works just fine. Now I just need to go double check the rules to see how what stats and such effects my total soak and such, and I will be set.

    Thank you very much.

And I LIKE that cord... Tell me, how many of those can be charged with a spell at a time?
  23. Hazard Stop poking already

Something to remember is that while Ghost Eating Technique is all sorts of awesome, the only thing it does is allow you to take motes from harming spirits of any kind. It doesn't actually allow you to better harm them, that is Spirit Cutting Technique, which makes any harm you inflict to a spirit Aggravated, as well as allowing you to hit them regardless of materialisation state.

The Daemonpyre gun as is is something of a hybrid of these Charms.

EDIT: Sia, sounds to me like you need to develop a Charm that allows you to say 'soak ignoring effects do not work, apply soak anyway.' As it's a defense, it would trump a soak ignoring effect, and as it's not actually a perfect, it may actually not be ludicrously expensive.

Manda, a single cord can hold a single Spell at a time. There is no limit to the number of Cords you can carry at a time. I'm not sure it would work on thaumaturgy however, but the Crucible of Tarim should have... interesting effects when combined with Psyker powers.
  24. DakkaMania Techpriest

No. It specifically notes that you don't regain motes with the pistol.
  25. DakkaMania Techpriest

You can hold 3 spells at a time per cord and carry multiple cords. I can also make 4 dot versions that can catch Celestial Spells. Something useful if you want to let loose Countermagic without paying motes.

Note: They are actually designed to capture enemy spells when used against you. So if someone uses Emerald or Sapphire magic against you and you are able to act, you can catch them and toss it right back.

Solar Circle is sadly not possible at the moment. It would be 5 dots.
