Familar of the Transdimensional Moon While taking a break from [Louise of the Steam], might as well type in this lol snippet. Warning: may deviate from canon and incur OOC in the canon cast. =================== Inspiration: Original, Universe Courtesy of LGear (currently still in planning so no public details) Scene: Wardes' Betrayal Summoned: "Yaya Lunaria", aka "Lune" (among many other names) === Cromwell simply smiled as the Ring of Andvari did its magic, keeping Louise’s familiar pinned to the ground, as Wardes joined in the cajoling by kicking the said familiar- which was very disrespectful considering Lune’s gender. “Damage Taken, Unknown Force Hindering Motion Functions.” The strange text on Lune’s eyes flashed by as she took further hits from Wardes’ boot. “With your master following my wishes, you still dare defy us Gandalfr?” Wardes’ questioning came loud upon the girl. “I am giving you the chance, swear your loyalty to me, and you will be safe- or I will just ask Louise here to summon another Gandalfr.” “Yes...” Cromwell cooed. “The Shield of God would be a useful addition, along with the Void Mage. The goals of the Reconquista would be quickly realized and all of Halkegenia would be...” “United?” Lune managed to weakly speak. “Violence was never a good medium for unification- thousands upon thousands of years of conflict had passed and yet people still do it- what a waste.” “Silence!” Wardes further pressed his boot down. “You had your chance, but I must say, farewell Gandalfr Lune, you would have been a nice mistress.” “No... you big bully... stop hurting Mistress right now!” Mousie, Lune’s ever faithful “fairy” suddenly appeared and tried to stop Wardes, only to be swatted away. Said fairy managed to land near Louise. Wardes then picked Lune up by the neck, strangling her. After a few moments, he then tossed her upwards, with the aid of a slight wind spell, and drew out his sword-wand. With one sweep, lightning issued from the weapon and stuck Lune with such force that the point of contact exploded, sending her to the far end of the chapel with a heavy crash among the pews. “Mistress!” Mousie cried out, as red panels of [Shutdown] appeared before her. “No way...” “I never thought it would be that easy for me to dispatch her...” Wardes thought, remembering the sparring session at La Rochelle. “But... What was that inhuman strength she displayed? No matter, I would need to prepare for a familiar summoning later.” Just as they were about to pick Louise up, Cromwell noticed another thing- the fairy was still there. “Wait a minute...” Cromwell managed to speak. “The Familiar’s fairy...” “She’ll vanish sooner or later- If I remember correctly, the fairy and her familiar are somehow... linked.” But just as Wardes was about to pick up the still intoxicated Louise, a bright glow began to permeate, from the broken remains of the pews that Lune had crashed into. Mousie on the other hand, also began to glow, and a line of light composed of 1s and 0s began to steam from the fairy to the entity under the pews. “What in the Founder’s name is this?!” Cromwell alarmed. “Data Restoration Complete... All Systems OK.” the strange panels once again appeared around the fairy. “[Yaya Lunaria] Activating.” “Thank god...” Mousie blew a sigh of relief as the panels and line vanished, her own glow fading. “Now you bullies will have a taste of what my mistress really is!” And in an instant, the pews exploded in a flurry of wooden splinters and metal fragments, what emerged from it was the now brightly glowing familiar, the runes on her right hand extremely noticeable. “But she’s supposed to be dead! But how?!” Wardes’ question was cut off when he noticed a portion of the Familiar’s waist- the visible signs of his attack evident- but what surprised the traitor was that there was a hole, but not much blood- instead there were small sparks arcing from surface to surface- revealing that it was infact metal, and what little blood that was spilled came from a small gap within the metallic interior. The said wound quickly healed itself with a speed that even a square class water mage could only dream of. “I have managed to study a bit about what kind of familiar my master is.” Mouise began an impromptu lecture. “Gandalfr, the “Shield of God”, master of weapons...” “Impossible, she’s not holding her swo-” “Hehehe...” Derflinger, who was still where he was when Wardes managed to blow him off Lune’s hands, chuckled. “This is very intresting, who would have known that my partner is infact...” “Curse you.” Wardes could only mutter before the familiar suddenly vanished, only to appear above him, fist pointed in a punch. Wardes managed to barely escape, with Lune’s punch leveling a few of the pews she landed upon- luckily, Mousie was there to shield Louise from the shrapnel- and also taking out her “pen” and writing [GET BACK TO YOUR SENSES LOUISE] on a panel she conjured. Lune pressed up her attack, with the glow that was surrounding her fading and changing at the same time. Wardes managed to distance himself and drew upon his sword-wand once again, repeating the same attack he had done against her- only to be blocked by a spear. Wardes’ face became that of astonishment as the familiar’s true form was revealed- the long black hair she had became a light shade of violet and her blue eyes are now as red as blood, and an armored skirt that was open at the front covered her similarly armored legs, and her body and arms were also covered in armor, the left arm, which was holding a shield, more armored than the right, which was holding the spear that blocked Wardes’ attack. What startled Wardes more was the helmet that the familiar wore- for it had extensions that were similar to rabbit ears. “What in the name of the Founder are you?” “I am the sojourner of the night. The light that shines whenever evil is at work, lighting them for the world to see, and fades when justice has been served...” Lune began to address Wardes. “I am the dealer of justice at the speed of light... Yaya... Lunaria.” ===== This Character is basically something that I cooked up for a secret worldbuilding session with LGear. Note: since the forum forbids direct links to Danbooru / Pixiv, post numbers would have to do for now. A bit late to the discussion but still: the Karin summoning is glorious. Another fun idea: is the queen still alive at this point? How would Louise and Henrietta react to learning that the queen had a crush on Karin? Just have Henriettas mom acompany her on her journey to Germania and the school. Her apearance would also be one of the few things that could Karin accept the situation. And the faces of Henrietta and Louise.....
yeah, this part was going to be put together along with another bit to make "book ends" type of thing, but I felt it was growing a bit too long for a short snip size. The change of feel may be caused because I wrote that part when I was ko'd by fever... hopefully things get better in the future I was thinking of letting things go for a while before introducing Fool, but I realized Rock would only stay for more than an hour if she's trying to help Louise to not get overtaken by the darkness within her. Then we can have explosive appearances :3 EDIT: Those Napoleon bits are coming fast ._.
Regarding the Napoleon Familiar Fic- I seriously think you should start a full thread with those six chapters in the main Creative Writing forum. Given your update speed, I think it's likely to receive quite alot of coverage on the first page.
Dude. :wtf: How do you write this fast? And with quality, too? And when's Louise pulling out the voidhax? I'm pretty sure that Mercer and Louise finding Dispel in the Academy library in Unfamiliar was fanon, but are you going with that?
It's winter break still for me, but even then, this fic has taken over my life. I've shut down gaming completely, and pretty much if I'm not working at my job or working out, I'm planning this thing out. I haven't had this much fun in a long time. And I'll probably create a new formal thread once the OP finishes the index to the last thread, as I don't want to go and search for the old posts. I'll also observe that I am at a major crossroads in this fic. Henrietta is going to make one of two choices about the letter in the next chapter, and while I think I know which one I'll take, I'm not totally certain. If I make the other, it'll massively change the direction this fic goes as well as how sympathetic some characters will become.
Reuse is intentional, after all - it's basically all but agreed that the only way to fit in a ZnT/EP crossover without reaming both universes is to make the ZnT a simulation. Or at least give it the appearance of a simulation. In this case, the provided snippet would be followed by Saito appearing in the Vestri court, very confused and very paranoid. Write and write and write and write. [/should follow his own advise]
Please oh please don't make her ask to send the letter yet since she hasn't proven herself capable at this point in time. A good friend wouldn't ask someone who is known for her failures to go to a war-torn area without good probable cause like already earning the title of Chevalier.
Well, feeling a little odd, and this is probably messing with things a bit much, but it's what I've got on the subject. It's a short one. He's going to put you in his book... _________________________________________________________________ The battle of Saxe Gotha was going quite well, Cromwell rubbed his hands together to warm them. The only resistance was a small force led by a skeleton in a dress. Admittedly, he was holding the infantry off with an aura of death, but that wouldn't stop the mages. Blades of wind sliced through the shroud, defying the skeletal grin on the familiars face. Eventually they overwhelmed his own magical defenses through volume of fire. The skeleton fell to one knee, seeming to gasp, the book in one hand dropping open. The skeleton fell forwards, but something was left behind, which stood grinning in a far more disturbing way. Across the battlefield, men stopped, looking up at the columns of light which covered them all. Cromwell tried to run, but nothing would shift the scintillating laser. In the last seven seconds of unlife, the Familiar of Zero opened his mouth and began to sing a requiem for the Reconquista... _____________________________________________________________ Karthus, the Deathsinger from League of Legends. Edit: This is the chinese art. I feel cheated...
www.youtube.com/watch?v=8egkmEDWrmE I think this song represents Karthus very well when it comes to that battle Yes the Chinese art kicks our arts' asses
Karthus ultimate is OP... especially on poor non CHAMPION level beings. No place to escape, no way to dodge, just grind your teeth and hope you will have some life left. I suppose only the ogres and some dragons would survive that attack. Poor Karthus, not even in the snip he can stay undead. It's almost as if people expected him to die or something.... "coughs".
Yep, have that on my MP3 player. It probably shouldn't hit all the minions, but I tend to extrapolate for fluff in these. Either way, Cromwell gets Sky-bombed...
Well, I don't own him yet, when he becomes free I'll give him a try. I tend to only write ones that I've played or own, it gives me more of a reason to write better snippets for the characters I own rather than going all cracky with everyone.
Looks badass. Kel'thuzad would be an itty bit more terrifying, though, what with it being in his power to personally bring you back from the dead. As he himself states while still alive and relatively weaker to his future Lich self:
Eh, while Kel'Thuzad would also be an interesting one to write, I've never been that into Warcraft. I wanted someone who wouldn't immediately stomp everyone, but would be badass enough to make that scene work. (And Kel'Thuzad doesn't have the global ultimate...)
Kel'thuzad is still pretty badass, though. Not as much as could be given the presence of the Lich King, the Elemental Lords, the Dragon Aspects and the Old Gods, but he's still pretty high up the list. I'd put him on par with Illidan, actually, which is crazy strong in most respects.
Oh yes, I'm not doubting that, he was a great hero in the undead campaign. Unfortunately Warcraft has started to suffer from what I call DBZ syndrome, where the bar keeps getting kicked up another notch. So the major players have to keep following the bar to keep from becoming obsolete. He's just too powerful to be merely slain by nameless mages. And, it didn't fit my vision of the fight. Though if someone writes a Kel'Thuzad snip, I'll read it happily.
Alright, this is my first try on this thread. Devil May Cry based. Part 2 Part 3 --- The explosion that followed was not really a surprise to anyone, Louise included. As usual, the pinkette's attempts at a spell produced nothing more than that. Coughing, one of the students spoke up. "As always, Louise. You just can't do anything else..." Normally, the young Louise Valliere would retort at such a jeer, but her attention was given to the figure she could see in the smoke. Professor Colbert tensed. He could feel the pressure of the summoned being, and it frightened him. While there was no killing intent, he had never felt such a force of power from even Karin herself! As the smoke cleared, everyone in the field stared at the man standing there. He wore a long purple coat, embroidered with red at the sleeves and around the chest, with a similarly colored collar, and white gloves. Underneath, he wore a long red shirt, with a regal white color in front, with an amulet of sorts around his neck. He wore purple slacks, and a well-made pair of shoes. He was of fair complexion, and looked around the age of thirty, maybe younger. His silver white hair was groomed back, and his cold blue eyes studies the crowd around him. What caught their attention, however, was the blade he held. A large sword, with a straight two-sided edge, measuring up to just over half his own height. A few seconds passed, then the students began talking amongst themselves. "A noble?" "He looks like one, but I don't see a wand..." "Maybe Louise hired him..." "Nah, look at him, he carries himself like one..." "Look at that sword! Is he a knight?" Louise herself was trembling slightly at the sight of the man. She could tell he was no mere commoner. He gave off an aura that reminded her of her own mother. "Miss Valliere, if you will?" Professor Colbert's voice started her, but she nodded. As she walked forward, the man turned to stare at her. She froze, looking at his cold eyes as they studied her. The man closed his eyes, then spoke. "Child. Are you the one who summoned me?" Louise stared at him. "Y-yes. I, L-louise Fracoise le blanc de la Valliere have summoned you to be my familiar..." Louise spoke nervously. The man quirked a brow. "Familiar? Surely you jest." The students began to laugh. Louise winced a bit, but the man continued. "The pull of that spell demanded more than just some helper. Though answer me this. Can I be sent back?" Louise's eyes widened, thinking of failure, when Colbert spoke up. "Excuse me, Mr.?" "Sparda." "Um, yes, Mr. Sparda. My name is Jean Colbert, and I am Miss Valliere's teacher. To answer your question, no, we cannot send you back." Sparda narrowed his eyes slightly. "Miss Valliere's summoning was a ritual that all students are to take in order to gain a familiar. The spell calls one who is most suited to the mage." "So, it is a rite of passage?" Colbert nodded. "I see... And I take it she cannot try again." He nodded again, and Sparda sighed. "Very well, but there are conditions to which I will allow this. I will discuss them with the child myself." He then turned to the students, who were mocking Louise, ignoring his talk with Colbert. Narrowing his eyes, he allowed some of his power to seep. The result was instant. All the familiars in the area suddenly backed away by instinct, and the students were either alarmed by their actions, or trying to find the source of the foreboding feeling. Smiling, he turned to Louise. "Very well child. I will allow you to form a contract." --- So... thoughts? I have a few more ideas for future bits, but not much else. Sparda is currently from the time point between his awesome moments of asskickery and fatherhood. In other words, sometime during his two thousand year rule. He has Yamato and Force Edge at the moment. This won't be a full story, cause well, Sparda is OP. And the only other time to summon him would be a VERY dick move on my part.
It is. I totally made it up to emphasize how much of a genius Louise is. In my mind she's easily the best and most powerful void mage in the setting. She's just castrated by that crippling lack of self confidence. When she actually claims the runic name "void" for her own though, watch out. I mean, who else but a genius could read some vague flowerly passages about how a spell works and then make her own version based on that, even if it's a lot less powerful?
Force Edge is in Temenigru, acting as a seal for the demon gate, so Sparda should be using Rebellion instead.
@Facehugger: Or, you know, Brimir might have simply engineered his artifacts to allow void mages to learn from them the way Louise did (you are talking about the Founder's Prayerbook, right?).
