Add some civilians and we are golden.

    Yeah, I think I will rework bases... I mean - Look at populations alone! 20k, 20k, 70k...
People, there have been damn end of the world! No bunker would be able to hold that number of people and survive!
But I want this game so we need a rework. RTM got very good base creation idea here we we will work from that.
IF you got ideas then feel free to share them.
  2. EagleBlue Kill! Kill! Kill the BETA!

Giving the number of people the different kinds of bases will support can help out. And examples of the tech we can have.
  3. InsaneCat Has a new PC.

That it will. I was already thinking about it - With very high end populations with about 3-5k people and almost no advanced equipment - That would be "locals". Bunkers would have be in hundreds but have more advanced things.
Still, I have to think about it.
I will respond to any other posts in 3-4 hours.
  4. RTM REEEEEEEE!

I edited that in into my old template post, the one right under your OP of this thread. Tell me what you think.

How about we use the wiki (Ufopaedia) and that map I posted earlier as helper tools and such? Granted, since this is a different universe and different story, but I think it can help. Such as the tech we could have. Terror From The Deep took place in 2040 or something similar to that, so we can probably say that we could have the part of the starting tech from it and such... though it probably will be ten or twenty five years out of date and such, by the time the alien occupation ends...

The game base creation works all great if someone is taking a bunker\underwater base, but for other types of bases, not so much. It makes no sense for surface bases to have similar space constraints.

The population quantities are indeed a bit bit, i think the space station has started a suggestion with it.
I think if everyone cuts theirs by one zero we will be golden. It means 3k for mine.
So up to 1500 for bunkers, up to 3000 military bases, up to 7000 for cities.

You can easily divide all kinds of bases players took into 3 types: bunkers, military bases and cities.

Bunkers by definition would be very defensible and have good military equipment, military bases would be less defensible, needing to cover it with heavy equipment and manpower, but would be able to have more heavy equipment like APC's, tanks or aircraft, while cities, the least defensible kind, would have police\reserve military level equipment with a few basic apc's max, but would have the most manpower, raw materials and space.

Also, if we are doing Aftershock then any advanced (above 2003) tech we could have is the ex aftermath X-Com - it's a different storyline than the EU\TFTD\Apocalype one.

Well, I was going with my bunker was in a local area where alot of people hid.

And how many ships would be at the yard?
  7. So, if I want to set up my city, do I use UFO: aftershock style of buildings or XCOM:terror from the deep and XCOM: enemy unknown syle?

If I'm going with aftershock, I would need weapons labs, medical labs, jet labs etc. and weapons factories, ordinance factories, medical factories etc.
If I'm going with the classic version, I just make lobaratories and workshops.

Can I get some clarification here?
  8. InsaneCat Has a new PC.

@Twichy - Not many and ones that would be out there would be not working in like 80-90% of cases .

@Wyrm - City - Aftershock style. Bunker - More of XCOM styled.
  9. EagleBlue Kill! Kill! Kill the BETA!

How many people and equipment can a bunker or a military base support?
  10. InsaneCat Has a new PC.

    Still thinking about it.

I know, so, what % of the navy could be in the yard, all ships needing massive repairs?
  14. Marduk Recruitin for RP on skype

Aftershock style city bases are ridiculously limited, unless we change the building base limit. Otherwise, you need a whole damn continent worth of bases for a symbolic few labs, barracks, libraries and small scale factories.

As for ship numbers, i would say that you can have as many ships as you can maintain, which should be about 4-5 times the manpower needed to crew them. So no huge ass ships, maybye a couple subs, frigates and patrol boats, or something of similar size.
  15. InsaneCat Has a new PC.

50 years and lost war on global scale... I think there would be only few ships in yard.
I know, But I want players to have most (if not all) things they need in one base. I'm still thinking about it.
  16. Marduk Recruitin for RP on skype

The old system was good for open field bases pretty much. The X-com one is good for bunkers - duh, it was supposed to work for bunkers after all. We just need to cut all populations by a zero (did it already) and it should work then. Hundreds\low thousands for bunkers\ high thousands for cities, military bases somewhere in the middle.

Hmm, even 5% would give you 20 ships. Not a chance you could maintain them with a few thousands of people unless they are very small ones. With 3 k's, i would say a sane guesstimate would be an attack sub, a medium freighter, a 1-2 hovercraft, landing craft and patrol boats each, and a frigate, plus some speedboats and few helis.
Or something along the lines of that. Plus a crapload of wrecked\half wrecked\cannibalized hulls.

Things like the Wasp or supercarriers have crews alone in thousands.

What about the subs, for the underwater bases?

And does that count support ships?
  21. InsaneCat Has a new PC.

No subs. And underwater base would get only one.

    Yes.
  22. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

So, how many other naval bases would there be, the us only has.... about 4.
  23. InsaneCat Has a new PC.

I didn't say that ships were in Military Naval bases.
