  1. AndrasOtto Ballistically Advantaged

Took the KCB out for a spin in MegaMek today, headshotted two different mechs, a Stalker and a Battlemaster.
  2. Barricade Nyan! I mean, Myon!

Niiiice, and I mean that. Especially in the case of the Stalker (which is one of my favs, and I'd love to see really upgraded). While the game abstractions make it the same as any other 'Mech, if you view the artwork, that cockpit has to be harder then hell to even spot up close, let alone from a distance.

Have you seen the Royal Stalker from Historical: Operation KLONDIKE yet, Barricade? You lose the SRMs and three heat-sinks, but the remaining HS are doubles, the LLs get an ER upgrade, the LRMs are expanded to LRM-15s with Art-IV (and CASE'd ammo bins!), *and* you get a Guardian ECM module as well.

I mean, the Stalker was always about the 'grinding advance' kind of warfare, but that's bordering on "just plain wrong!" :drevil:
  4. Barricade Nyan! I mean, Myon!

Umm, I have all the TROs that have come out since 2750 (yeah, I've been playing since THAT far back), so yeah, I know about the Royal mods.

I just happen to prefer a different upgraded combination -

It's still an utter beast to try to get it's heat sink issues under control, but it's also still damn close to the zombie-'Mech principle, as even if the CASE goes up, the core of the 'Mech will still be just fine. Although if you DO give it the original heat-management program quirk, it gets vastly easier to deal with.

    In other news...

Has anyone seen the 2nd Macross Frontier movie? They introduce a completely new VF. Not just the Tornado pack seen in False Songstress, but a whole new VF that's even a leap better then the VF-27. The 'YF-29 Durandal'. Imagine the VF-27 COMBINED with the Tornado pack as integral parts and an ungodly amount of fold quartz as well. Can't fire the massive beams of the VF-27, but on the other hand, it has a fold-quartz powered gatling-gun pod. Forward swept-wings with 4 engines (that can swivel like the Tornado pack's) as well.

I so want to make a LAM of that.
  5. Domestic design built on the ground with Earth designed engines.
IIRC the consensus was that CEarth would be able to build the old style fusion reactors and drives used on SC,DS... etc fairly swiftly, we are close to getting fusion power working afterall, while the BM & AFS style reactors would be more difficult.
  6. Unfortunately the VF-25's, VF-27's and YF-29's transformation method isn't really practical with BT tech. Even if they are boosted with CEarth's way of handling technology.

The fighter mode of the YF-29 might do well as an Aerospace Fighter though.
  7. I ok with that I just did think they have the drive's as fast as that, now all we need is SL miliarty data core on some the old type ship weapons.:drevil:

Probably the definition is that PA(L) is more for anti-infantry work, then anti-armor work. However it can, if pushed, be used in the same role as Light classed Battle Armor. Light Battle Armor IS actually capable of taking on armor and doing serious damage (if not outright crippling, if you're using elites). PA(L) on the other hand is vastly more suited to ripping up non-power armor equipped infantry, or playing 'out of sight' support roles for armor or heavier battle armors.

    To summarize:
    PAs are for anti-infantry
    BAs are for anti-armor & anti-infantry.
In a push, PAs can double (poorly) as Light BAs, hence the term 'PA(L)'.
