    [X] Prepare.
  2. Wander Not all those who Wander are lost.

[X] Get some work done for that bloody speech.

I had forgotten about this too yeah. *is sheepish*

Still its a great quest so I hope we'll be able to revive it.

You've got two things you really need to take care of. The first is a public address where you state how your taking over the place, lament the loss of the previous Overlord, and state (and or explain) what you intend to lead the nation in doing about all this.

In short, you need to pull a speech akin to Winston Churchill or King George the VIth.

Write in bonuses for this are heavily weighted. They can make or break your character within this moment. Do a good enough one, and your Empire will March into hell for you down to the last child. Screw it up, and you will forever be considered not but a figurehead.

The other thing you need to do is go 'Negotiate' with a Land God, an entity that is in essence, the living embodiment of a Mountain Range.

...It's kinda cheating to tell you this, but your background actually holds that you should be aware of this. That 'negotiation’ may or may not involve you proving your 'worth' to it.

These contests can be important in any manner of way, and are typically rather epic in the classical sense. Hence, the warning picture above (though ironically being able to heal an untreatable injury, forge an impossibly beautiful artifact, or break an unbreakable lock could well be tasks asked of you. That thing was more metaphor on not focusing solely on the political stuff, then a warning to keep your combat strength up. Though that is of course a massive factor to always keep track of).
  4. Get some work done on the speech.

Emphasize our superior culture, the existance of many dangers and barbarians, the need to make the people responsible pay for this crime, etc. . .
In short, fascism 101, only in this setting a fascist empire could well wind up being the Big Good. Deathworlds are funny like that.
  5. [x] Prepare (head to the workshop)
  6. linkhyrule5 Hero of Time

    Write-in, eh?

I'll see what I can get done tonight or tomorrow...
  7. RTM REEEEEEEE!

No pressure, but try to write up something good. I tried to begin, but the only thing that comes to mind is Mengsks Inauguration speech from the first StarCraft at the end of the Terran Campaign. I doubt Mizuki gives points for unoriginality...

EDIT: And I don't think it suits the situation...

    [X] Ready Yourself.

    Get that blood speech done.

Stepping way from your predecessor’s endless mounds of paperwork, you head back to your room to… start into your own endless mounds of paperwork.

    Joy.

Sighing you check your chronometer and then start brushing through references on what you could use for your speech.

The idea hits you to look into the opening speeches of Overlords past. Surely it can at least give you an idea right?

An hour or so later, your feeling horribly outclassed. Inspired, but outclassed. At the very least you’ve gotten a good feel for how to pull something like this. Keep the address to the people, give them the impression that they, as an individual can do something, and that as a whole they can do much.

A simple enough point. The trick will be conveying it. You could always quote those earlier lines. That tends to go well, but might not give the right impression of you standing on your own… tricky…

Your chronometer dings, alerting you that the sun’s soon to rise. You’ve spent a full twenty four hours working on your empire without thought to rest, or other activity.

Useful? Likely. You’ve gotten some real progress done. Necessary? Well… it had to get done at some point anyway.

Was it the smart thing to do? Merciful gods, you hope so.

Now, you find yourself torn on what to do next.

[ ] Take a nap, recharge, try and get a fresh perspective on things.
[ ] Head to the workshop, try and follow up that lead you found in the notes.
[ ] Research into this land god you need to deal with.
[ ] Finish up your speech, schedule it, get it done.
  9. Research the land god. We seriously need more info on him/her if we are to deal with it properly.
  10. Wander Not all those who Wander are lost.

How long can we stay awake before it starts effecting us?
  11. Mizuki_Stone Gnd. Admiral

Depends on what you mean. You can remain coherent for over a week with nothing more then two hours rest.

However, if you don't get at least two hours a day your spell casting capacity starts to take a hit. Not a huge one, not at once anyway, but it begins to erode until you get some proper rest.

Argh, goddarn it, I forgot about this. I'm at orientation, moving into college - I won't have time to write-in a speech for at least two more days, and it'll probably take a few days to write the speech itself.
  15. I refuse to let this RP die.
  16. Lord_Asmodeus And he went forth conquering, and to conquer

How has this remained under my radar for so long? I thought it had died, it was never in the top 5 pages when I checked >.>
  17. Vanathor Retconned Into Pointlessness

[X] Have Rusty prepare the speech
  18. linkhyrule5 Hero of Time

    Have a speech.

    *Walk up to stage*
    *Long, awkward silence*

“Let that be our moment of silence for our Liege.

Beloved. Honored. A great ruler, and a presence sorely missed.

Missed, as our Empire reels from the loss of our Overlord.

Missed, as our allies reconsider the treaties they signed with ruler now dead.

Missed, as our foes gather on our borders, as vultures look hopefully towards our homes, as men and monsters and alien things try to seize on what they believe is a golden opportunity –
    *visibly “refreeze”*
    Yes, missed.

And it is precisely because that our Overlord is missed that we must move on. Now. I will say this again. We must move on. Now. The time for mourning has passed. By striking at the Clockwork Throne the assassins have struck at the very heart and throat of our empire – and all the world knows it. We cannot be weak – more than that, now, when our enemies believe us weak, we must be stronger than ever before, to throw off the vultures and spit in the faces of those who would exploit the death of Malial. I am calling on you, on the people, to rise up! I ask you take what you have set aside for dark times and use it – now, to make it clear that we, all of us, all the people of Hekurore, stand stronger and more united than ever before.

United. We must be united. To those who would quibble over politics at a time like this – be ashamed. Power plays and backroom deals are for countries who have not just lost their leader! Our country is strong, but only so long as it is our country, and as soon as we lose sight of that, we shall fall. To those who hold power: In you I place our trust and our pride, and you have earned it! – so keep it. Already, we have lost an Overlord to those who were willing to put their personal interests over Hekurore – prove to them that they have made the wrong choice, terrify them, for the retribution of the Clockwork Throne shall be swift; and those who make that lesser crime, know that now, swift and decisive action is paramount even over the action itself. Slow down later.

And I. *step forward and down – not to the level of the audience, less “I'm on your level” and more “I'm in the room”* I, Angmar, Overlord of Hekurore, who in a few short days will hold the Clockwork Throne.

The Empire's efforts depend ultimately on you. But I am the one who must guide them, to move to protect it. Already, troops are beginning to be massed against our myriad foes, and in a week I shall begin my travels to ensure the continuation of our treaties. But I can – and must – do more. I shall lead – I, standing in the shoes of my great mentor – and I will bring this country into a glorious future.

So, I ask you: *holding out hand * do you trust me? (Hopefully: YES!) Will you depend upon me? (Hopefully: YES!) Then let us go!
  19. [X]Link's speech has my approval.

  21. HecateGW No longer rampant and practicing techno-sorcery.

    [X] linkhyrule5 speech.
  22. Conjured Blade Darth Tuturu

    [x]Link's speech
  23. Mizuki_Stone Gnd. Admiral

Hum, I like it, a tad morally dubious, but if anything that works better. Also the slight loss of 'control' is... beautiful, manipulative as hell, but your genuinely pissed enough about this to make it work, and it makes you deliciously more approachable. All the more with the blunt assumption of the responsibility of the nation itself.

Only negative I see about it, is your probably going to attract a freaking army of fan girls... then again that might boost female recruitment in the military, so not necessarily a bad thing.

Alright, I'll get the update out soon.
  24. Ahasver Lost and Lurking

I can already see the slash fiction. Defense Minster Iron/Angmar OTP
  25. Excellent. We must grind our way up to Incubus tier attractiveness so that we can recruit half our rivals as our minions.
