Even though I like conquest I like magitech more.

This happens a hell of alot. Most people who conquer a single nation have a slim pretext to legitimacy.

I was talking to Mizuki earlier, I have convinced him of the validity of monster girls as minions

I don't want monster girl minions!

I want more classical fantasy minions.

No one would take us seriously if we had monster girls.

People would take us serious if we had monster girls. After we've screwed over a few people. Maybe literally.

In true Dungeon Keeper style, we should brainwash our enemies into minions.

It would be demeaning to have your legions of doom be filled with characters that would be more fitting in an anime aimed at perverts.

It's called distraction. Also, there are other things we can employ then against the 'Heroes'.

Monster girls could probably be our Psy Ops and eventually expand to other fields as necessary.

I'll remind you this is just for your starting set of stuff. You’re going to open up new options pretty quick, and unless you remand uniformity as a rule, you’re likely going to get more then one type of troops to play with.

Admittedly that’s going to take a while…

Just because the cons of conquest is longer to explain than inheritance doesn't mean it's that much worse. People thinking of us as a weak MIGHT mean they think of us as small fish and ignore us... or they might think of us as small fish and thus easy to conquer. And according to Mizuki there are groups within our empire that might take our weakness as a sign that they could kill us and take over, or make them disloyal to us.

Don't get me wrong, I pretty much completely agree with you-conquest IS better, but on the other hand there's magitech.

We'd have to build a nation from scratch.

Our nation would be a ruin.

OK going to move onto the next stage in one hour, ten minutes.

But it gives us the opportunity to build it from the ground up, it isn't we 'have' to build it from scratch, it's we 'get' to build it from scratch, building it in our own image

Also, Loyalists and dissidents against your rule are a pain. Being underestimated is better/safer.

Longer. Quite very much given what can and will likely happen.

It's only underestimation if we're stronger than they think we are. If we're weak and they think we're weak, it's just estimation, and for some nations it will be a sign to attack us

It just means we need to work a little harder to get it, but Conquest is the best way to start, thematically and because it allows us to build our nation in our own image from the ground up, it will be a work of our own might and not just handed to us by someone else.
