I looked sever pages back and didn't see a thread for this, so I thought I'd start my own. So, to start off with How about "A Bender of Mars" where instead of John Carter getting sent to mars, a bender from the Avatar earth gets sent there.
Here's an odd one. At some point in the future, an Avatar is brought back from clinical death, and finds that he or she can only bend their natural element. The world's first former Avatar. This could be interesting.
Amon wins and he removes Korra's bending. In doing he severs the spirit of the planet and sends it back into the spirit world. As it fades it announces that so shall all bending fade form the world with it's passing. And with the fall of bending so to would the world. When no more air-bender roam the sky, The wind will not blow. When no more water-benders move the water, The oceans will dry. When no more fire-bender creates fire, Fire will burn out and when no more earth-benders move the earth, the life of the earth would be destroyed and plants will cease to grow.
Had an idea. Imagine an average family in republic city. Say Single mom with two kids, both of the kids are firebenders. They're poor but they manage to get buy if only barely. Things aren't perfect but they're pretty happy for the most part. Until the Equalist attack on the Pro-bending Stadium. They weren't suppose to be there, One of them had gotten a job lighting bending , they hadn't told mom about it, jobs like that were "to dangerous for kids their age". Anyways They decided to spent the first paycheck to See the Pro-bending finales, stupid yes but hey kids do stupid things. That's when they saw their mom there...as one of the equalists terrorizing the stadium. She's not a bad mother (at least she doesn't think she is) she always tries to do what's best for her kids, that's why she joined the equalists. Bending was an impurity, like any normal sickness like the flu, and what parent wouldn't leap at the chance to cure their kids of (what they as) a life long illness? edit: Second idea, Black Lantern Rings start hitting Republic City.
Surprisingly, there haven't been any Evil Korra fics yet. I'd also love to see a fic where Korra doesn't go straight to Tenzin and instead hangs out in the city before announcing herself. Maybe one where she ends up walking something of a middle path, neither helping the (for the sake of this fic) mostly corrupt City Council nor the Equalists. Something more like a Super Hero or Rebel Korra who opposes both the broken status quo and the people trying to replace it with an equally broken "equality" movement.
He means that it would make a good story but not a happy one. It would be an excellent tragedy and a good way to examine different points of view and stuff. So while it has the potential to be a compelling tragic story its not the sort of terrible idea that makes people want to claw their eyes out like Badfics do. Edit: How about at the start of the series Korra or a copy of Korra gets sent to Middle Earth a few months before Frodo leaves the Shire. I got this idea because I recently read a decent LOTR crossover but since the cross character Andromeda was an android from a super advanced future society (can't remember which series) she seemed to overpowered to me and I tried to think of some more balanced Crossovers.
Korra + LOTR has hilarious potential for derailment, while she can be beaten in combat by non-benders her abilities are sort of plot breaking. Who needs a pass or a mine when you can just earthbend a tunnel in a completely different location? That shard from the Nazgul blade that got stuck in Frodo even after Elrond treated him, who wants to bet that water bending could easily remove it? At the same time she's not strong enough to stomp the forces of evil so its possible to replace the plot with a new one without losing the tension, especially since she will be unintentionally screwing everything up by preventing necessary events that may have seemed bad at the time but which eventually led to good things. Such as Merry and Pippin being kidnapped or Frodo splitting the fellowship. Much hilarity will also be had when people see her polar-bear dog, and when Korra discovers an entire continent filled with bizarre just-one-type animals. Not to mention her shock at discovering that there is actually more than one language in the world.
Are you saying that I'm not eloquent? Why I should gather up a crew of fellow bloodthirsty vikings to go rape, pillage and burn your village/city to the ground! That should prove that I'm eloquent!
No, no, no! I was saying YOU were far more eloquent than--- Oh! This is one of those joke things, isn't it?
After Amon debends several Triad members they get desperate. And in that desperation they turn to a force they cannot control. The Joker: This is how crazy Amon's made Republic City! You want order back? Amon must take off his mask and turn himself in. Oh, and every day he doesn't. People will die. Starting tonight. I'm a man of my word. Villain fight. Man that is evil. I love it. Fallout: Republic City.. basically?
Thanks, got the idea when someone pointed out that there are a shit load of equalists out there even though benders make up like anywhere from 1/10th to 1/4th of the population, so odds are a lot of equalists with bending family members, I just took it to another level.
Except without all the standard post apocalyptic crap that goes with Fallout, sure. Personally I was thinking more Batman Korra, though. Or, even better, Batman Asami. Have both of the Sato's be killed, and the "Hiroshi Sato" character become more like Obidiah Stane. When Korra shows up in town, there's already someone fighting the Triads, Equalists, and corrupt officials: Wolfbat Girl.
Naw.. Just reminded me of every time I've ever played Fallout. You come from some place in the middle of nowhere. Meet new and interesting factions. Then decide the fate of the world.
Ah. Yeah, there's definitely some hints of that. I think Legend of Korra really wanted to be a Bioware Game, personally.
Now all we need is Ron Perlman to read the Avatar intro. War. War never changes.. Also.. Can we just handwave up Bats as a local species around the city? For some reason Wolfbat man.. girl whatever makes my jaw hurt. On topic: Korra is perfect for Batman crossovers, since its just hitting the 20's gangland era stuff. The era which Batman was born from basically. Also your idea is basically Worlds Finest..
Alright. Batgirl Asami. But yeah, it has some worlds finest, but with a dash more Iron Man, given how omnipresent higher level technology seems to be.
I would literally strangle another human being if it guaranteed that the team behind Avatar and Korra would make a Mistborn TV series. Alternatively, a partial fusion with the Mistborn books. Allomancers and Feruchemists suddenly start being born in Republic City. A Spirit Did It. Hilarity ensues.
