  1. Who wouldn't be depressed and insane in his shoes? Besides, it has it's bright moments once he realizes that nothing he does matters, so long as he dies in the end.

Like responding to Kirche's advances for one.
  2. Sliverlord Just waiting for you to walk by.

no, it's not... though it might be wrong to find this somehow morbidly entertaining, which I do.

You could go the liberating Ground Hog variant.

Saito looked up from the wet, dew-stained grass at Louise who looked a bit irate at him. He heard her invoke her power after a brief argument with Professor Colbert as he stood up. He failed to not flinch as her wand pointed at him.

Oh, right. She was going to kiss him. She looked very cute-

    What the hell? Why not?

So the rest of the class was shocked as Louise's commoner suddenly pulled her around, close to him and accepted her kiss very deeply and with intensity.
  4. AzureGrimoire Could it possibly be rewritten, that fate of hers?

    The insanity route...

    F**king awesome!

So, he's so depressed about reincarnating that he becomes a hedonist? Awesome.
  6. Another piece.

    **********

If there was an advantage to his unique circumstance, Saito mused, it was that he really was an oracle. In a sense. He saw the future, lived it. Died. Almost universally in some painful, traumatic fashion.

And came back to the past.

The first few times, he thought they were just dreams, albeit very real seeming ones. But how many dreams could you have before you just couldn't accept it? But then he'd been scared. What if this was it for him? To live the same life, over and over and over again until you went mad? Nothing seemed to matter at that point.

A brief flicker of a smile went up his lips at the memory of just doing whatever he wanted, and damn the consequences. In his old life, he would likely never would have met the likes of Kirche and her seductive ways, or the adoring gratitude of Siesta. Of course there had been the aftermath to face, and even if he avoided one, another would come, and nothing would have happened.

And didn't happen a dozen times.

After the thirteenth time of things that never happened, he decided enough was enough. He wanted to live. Really live. Not die again and again like a haha, a dog.

He kept his foreknowledge to himself at first, manipulating events so that the bad end flags would never be triggered. He avoided antagonising Louise, much. He'd armed himself with a kitchen knife to meet Guiche's golems, thoroughly humiliating the noblebrat with his runes without having to die or end up in the infirmary. He considered ambushing Foquet before she could make her move.

That hadn't turned out so well.

Later, he thought about recruiting some help. He tried telling Louise about his circumstances, and by extension, Kirche and Tabitha who had been eavesdropping, trying to persuade them with information about future knowledge. The first thing was the timing of Foquets theft, and the circumstances behind it. Louise... had been less than happy with her revealed involvement in the theft, no matter how accidental. Luckily, he hadn't been sent back there and then.

Unluckily, they had expected him to continue dispensing visions of the future, even for events he hadn't lived through... yet.

Like the mission to Albion. They wanted to know what was going to happen, what sort of enemies they would face. How was he supposed to know? He hadn't lived that far yet. But Wardes... he just didn't like the man. There was something suspicious about him that he couldn't just figure out. It had nothing to do with losing to him in that duel. Really!

But maybe he could drop hints that he was possibly an agent of the enemy.

He smiled again, but in amused disappointment. No. That was just evil. He didn't want to die, but that didn't mean it was alright to hurt others for something unrelated to that.

He was just probably jealous of the man. That's all.

This is looking too much like Innortal's time loops over at Hawks fanfiction forum. Every looper seems to go this way, where they go nuts then rebuild their psyche to be slightly less nuts (case in point, Ranma, Xander, Harry and Naruto) or stayed insane (Sakura Haruno).
  8. Deviatesfish This doesn't mean anything...

Time to jump on the groundhog day loop band wagon.

What about the intense delusion route? I'm not a great writer but here goes.

    ~I~

    *crack*

Louise Francoise Le Blac De La Valliere's head separated from her spinal column with a sharp crack. She was dead before her body ever hit the ground. A swift, impossibly perfect kill borne of a thousand years of misery and death.

    One

Professor Jean Claude Colbert raised his staff, flaring swirls of fiery magic coalescing across its mahogany surface, ready to strike down the would be murderer. Instead a powerful blow connected with his mid section and a brief flicker of confusion registered on the Flame Snake's face.

"Why are my students on fire" He wondered, utterly stupefied.

    Twelve

He looked down into two lifeless, black pupils at his chest. There was no hate, no joy, no despair, there was nothing in the boy's eyes. The Flame Snake felt a part of his soul wither and die inside those bottomless pools of nothingness even as his neck dislocated with a sickening squelch.

    Thirteen

A bolt of ice speared the courtyard with a subsonic boom, sucking in air like a miniature tornado with its passage. The target neatly twirled on the balls of his feet like a demented ballerina, giggling as the icy projectile gored through a buxom red headed seductress instead.

    Fourteen

Tabitha saw the madman barreling towards her with gleeful murder writ across his face, smashing aside familiar and mage alike with impossible ease. She saw him twirl though sheets of fire and waves of water with choreographed precision, but her eyes were glued to the dead girl across the courtyard, her friend.

Fifteen, Sixteen, Seventeen, Eighteen, Ninetee- Twen- Twenty ONE!!

Slypheed reared up, fangs bared and ready to strike, voice warbling with rage.
A swift and violent stroke to the larynx ended that.

    Tabitha snapped.

    "KIRCHE!! SLYPHEED!!"

A tear fell, the staff descended, all was black.

    Twenty... Twenty Two

    Thirty minutes later

Hiraga Saito smiled as the raven haired maid stepped over him, bloody cleaver in hand. She uttered something hateful in that incomprehensible French language. The message was clear: Any last words?

"High Score, 101" He intoned monotonously.

    *Slash*

"Hahaha The zero summoned a commoner!"

Saito smiled, as he leapt into the fray again.
  10. AzureGrimoire Could it possibly be rewritten, that fate of hers?

    Okay...
Is this the result of Mirai Nikki having an anime version?

Edit: Siesta radiating Rena Ryuugu aura is just awesome!

    Looping is fun. :)
  12. Nah, doesn't really work when you think about it. Without the runes, he's just plain old Saito, and even with years of foreknowledge, his body is still the same untrained Tokyo-ite.

Warshipper had it a bit better with sheer rage driving Saito, allowing him to make quick surprise attacks, but not the physical ability to go with it.
  13. Robo Jesus Your Mechanical Messiah

Ok, requoting you for a second. Yukari and Louise magically bound the people around them as they had their argument, a good portion of it in Japanese, a language none of the people gathered would understand. Yukari was the one that switched back to the French-analogue of Louise's homeland. Yukari purposely forced the info out there to give her 'Master' what she wanted. It wasn't subtle in the least, and many of the students, and especially Colbert, are going to realize this. This in turn means they're going to think it's either a trick with some other purpose (like trying to show the magicless child has magic while getting another unneeded/unwanted/annoying child out of the Vallière family's hair), or that what occured did indeed have a hint of truth to it, making the younger Louise (and more specifically her 'Sister/Familiar') more politically valuable than previously.

So the scene required the infodump, and the infodump here is important as it starts affecting the plot very quickly. Believe me, I do not enjoy writing unneeded and unnecessary scenes.

Read the "Reimu is a Bitch" segment in the Touhou Memes Page.:)

Actually, you need to keep in mind, at the age of 30, or about 12/13 years after she ended up in Gensokyo, she flat out tells Yukari that she wished she had never met her. Mind you, Yukari is playing nice at this point. Their relationship is strained at best. The bigger issue is that Louise ended up exiled from the Human Village. Exiled. Now think, what does it take to be exiled, especially in a setting where if you won't have the protection of a community, the exile is as good as a death sentence? Louise has spent a good portion of her time alone, with only Marisa and Alice as nearby company. The only other largely inhabited places in Gensokyo that would welcome her presence is Eientei and the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Think about that for a moment.

Oh yeah, that drunken invasion of hell? That occured a week or so after her exile. When Suika came in to beat the ever living shit out of her, Louise was able to pin the theft of Suika's Enchanted Sake Gourd on Shinki. Suika thanked her, beat up Shinki, and then beat up Louise for failing to protect her Sake Gourd to begin with.:D

Kirche reminds Louise of Marisa in some ways. It also helps that its been so long that Louise doesn't remember Kirche worth shit. That said, Marisa learned not to push certain buttons with Louise (the fact that Marisa actually liked Louise, especially as Louise traded the information she had on her own style of Magic played a VERY big part in that though). Kirche hasn't yet learned that. I cringe already at some of what will occur when Kirche pushes one of those "Do Not Touch" buttons.

What did you like best about it, if you don't my asking?
  14. WarShipper God of Cats and Apathy

So would I, if I had one.

But if you're going that way Mashadar, I'll be heading the way of utter insanity.

    ---
*Twenty-two thousand, six hundred, fifty-one retries later*

Louise stared at the man in her summoning circle.

In all honesty, a person who were to look at nothing but his appearance would see nothing but a very still person, maybe around seventeen or so.

But despite the protests that filled her mouth, it was his expression that stopped her.

    His eyes were utterly empty.

His mouth was closed as he dragged himself from the ground in a zxombie-like movement.

He stared at her, with those empty, empty eyes.

And for the first time in her life Louise felt something that many would call important.

    She felt pity.

Not a simple pity, where you were sad that something had happened to someone you knew.

Not that kind of pity where you felt something was unfair for someone else, but decided that since you knew nothing about it, there was nothing you could do.

She felt complete and utter pity, a dreadful feeling that made her want to cry for the man that stood in front of her.

But she steeled herself, taking a deep breath and ignoring the taunting jeers of her classmates as she approached to finish the familiar ritual.

    ---

    Saito stared down at Louise.

    They were in her room.

    Again.

She was demanding obedience from him.

    Again.

He was simply sitting there, silently refusing.

That was because he'd gone that route before.

He'd gone the route of doing everything that was expected of him before.

He'd gone that route exactly six hundred and thirty two times.

It was strange, how impeccable his memory had become.

Maybe it was because of how many times things had happened again.

This time, he'd decided that he'd just ignore the world.

    He would eat.

    He would drink.

But he would do nothing else.

Maybe he'd die of starvation when she refused him food.

It wasn't like he was going to ask Siesta for food.

    Again.

    No. She was too cheerfull.

Throughout it all, she'd been the one he'd liked the most.

She was the simplest, and she was the one he wanted to spare.

    Because everyone around him suffered.

    Louise.

    Kirche.

    Tabitha.

    Colbert.

    Henrietta.

    Osmond.

    Fouquet.

    Siesta.

    Julio.

    Wardes.

    Everyone.

    Everyone.

    Everyone.

    Everyone.

He only vaguely realized that he bleeding.

"Oh," he said in that dead, monotone voice he'd adopted forty retries ago.

"It appears my ribs are broken. My eye is non-functional. I have a ruptured spleen. Blood is coming from my mouth."

Saito had long become used to pain.

Agonizing, torturous pain that was worse than any interrorgator could ever achieve.

In fact, he'd been tortured before.

    By Reconquista.

The first three times, he'd endured the pain and resisted until they killed him.

The next twelve times, he'd told them everything he knew, past present future. They killed him.

The last four times he'd broken his legs to escape, then used the bones as weapons until he laid claim to a hammer. After that he'd gone on a bloody rampage by claiming the Zero fighter and several cannons.

    They shot him down, eventually.

It was then that consciousness escaped him.

    ---

    He woke up later.

He'd known he would wake up.

He probably knew the mages magic better than they did, by now.

In fact, he did know their magic better than they did.

He'd been in recovery for two weeks.

    Louise had been cut off.

    The rocket launcher was stolen.

Louise had to refuse Henriettas request.

    Tarbes was destroyed.

    Siesta was emotionally crushed.

Saito sat through it all, ever silent.

Eventually, he was forced to fight again.

The armies had attacked the magical academy.

Saito held them off until Louise escaped.

It reminded him of when he first met the elf. T... Taff... Tiffania, her name was.

    She wasn't here.

    He died.

    ---

*Twenty-two thousand, six hundred, fifty-four retries later*

    Again.

    The contract.

    Again.

    Again.

    Again.

    Again.

    He went through the motions.

He went through the same events he had at first.

    Louise, Siesta, Montmorency... Guiche.

He was staring at Guiche from across the ring.

Guiche was giving off another grand speech.

He'd made this one three hundred and twenty... three, times.

Then the bronze valkyrie was created.

Saito had sliced it in half before Guiche was finished declaring it his champion.

    Then he stood there.

    Another four valkyries.

    Slash, crush, dodge, punt, hit.

Guiche created more and more valkyries.

Saito stared at Guiche as he used the last dregs of his willpower to summon one last valkyrie.

It stood directly in front of Guiche, with a massive shield and comparatively small sword. More like a dagger, really.

Saito rammed his sword straight through the valkyrie.

He'd claimed it from one of the destroyed constructs.

It was more like a claymore, but he handled it with one hand.

Guiche was silent, and suddenly the valkyrie turned to dust.

Saito stared impassively at the hole he'd made in Guiche.

There was that deep red substance.

Saito pulled his sword out, and knew he'd won.

    The crowd was silent.

At first, they'd thought he would be easily beaten.

Then, they'd thought it would be difficult but not impossinle.

After that, they'd thought that Guiche was most likely going to lose.

Finally, they understood that Saito was no normal commoner.

It was very strange for a commoner to accept a challenge from a noble.

It was extremely weird for him to fight so well.

It was, in their minds, impossible that he would quite literally kill a noble, looking visibly bored as he did it.

    Many things happened at once.

Louises' family argued that it was Saito, the commoner, that killed Guiche de Gramont. They held no responsibility.

The Gramonts argued that legally Saito and Louise were the same person.

By the end of it all, Louise was on the chopping block.

    So was Saito.

But Saito, while being prepared to be decapitated, as used the method that he'd by now accepted as an acceptable way to handle difficult situations.

It wasn't like he really felt anything anymore.

He broke multiple bones, both to escape confinement and to use them as weapons.

They only impeded his progress by a minor margin.

He rescued Louise, and they became outlaws.

Saito found Fouquet, and soon they were a duo.

Fouquet became more connected to her human side, and soon warmed to the two.

Louise became more casual about death, and soon became proud in her ability to bypass any magical system with her explosions.

Saito remained the same. this was a new situation, and thus provided some interest.

But ultimately, he knew he would die.

    And everything would start again.

    It happened.

While breaking into a vault, they'd been cornered.

Fouquet had died first. Fried to ashes.

Louise was next. Blew herself up along with dozens of soldiers.

    Then finally it was Saito.

By now, he was a myriad of scars and destroyed flesh.

The only thing that had kept him together was very expensive water magic.

    He had fought viciously.

He had utilized pipe-bombs, magical chemicals of death, ripped into his enemy with a combination of Derflinger and a gun of almost modern-age power and ability.

But ultimately, he went the way of his comrades.

Derflinger soaked up too much magic, and exploded in a burst of energy that took eight soldiers with it.

The gun became overheated and the ammo exploded in the chamber, mangling Saitos hand.

Saito had his legs burnt and torn beyond repair.

His left arm was frozen and shattered.

The right side of his face was ripped off by wind mages.

A blond-haired woman that Saito recognized Agnes finished him off with contempt.

He awoke to the sound of being summoned.

    He broke down.

    Maybe he had died again.

Maybe he simply destroyed his own mind beyond repair.

Saito found himself in an endless darkness, a void of black that consumed him whole-heartedly.

He accepted the emptiness with open arms.

Cue Taiga being Louise's body double, and both saying identical lines at the same time.
Then someone summons Shana, and suddenly, familiars with identical voices start turning up, all being voiced by Rie
  24. How about she summons Spiderman from the cartoon, when he is an adult, and a bloody genius who makes his own web shooters and physics fucking web fluid.
He could be sent on a quest by one of his series' Omniscient beings(madame Spider or the Beyonder) to teach Louise, the nobility(the one's who just don't get it), and Elves in general 'With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility'. He could also try kicking off a scientific revolution (this incarnation was hanging in the intelligence ball park with the likes of Doom and Mr Fantastic and understood the tech behind the machine that gave him his powers with a obscene knowledge of genetic working through his own power problems)?
Whether he gets knowledge of the series is optional.
