  1. Well, we know Louise's spells are going pretty much wild most of the time, even if they end with an explosion. If she is pulling in a D&D mage, it could just be chocked up to a Wild Magic Surge.
  2. Phantrosity Motormouth Engineer

Binders are from Tome Of Magic.

they make pacts with strange amoral beings from an endless void outside the universe called vestiges. In exchange for displaying the vestige's sign and being influenced by its personality, the vestige grants certain abilities. Since they're completely sensory deprived, imprisoned in nonexistence, vestiges will make contracts with anyone who can reach them in exchange for being able to experience things again.

Here's a sample one. I particularly like the influence.
It's possible for a binder to resist the influence, but it pisses off the vestige and they start screwing with you.
  3. Rivenscryr Aberrant Outlier

Well, if you remember Fate/Stay Night, Caster's elf-like ears were the result of a failed magical experiment, so its not out of the realm of possibility.

That or ROB could do it.
  4. Yukarin is always watching out for people to screw up with in case the ROB is busy

But of course! Saito can't help but get involved in situations where he's going to get hurt by a female.

I was thinking, why not having the core mages getting their human(oid) familiars? Toph or Touhou's Tenshi with Guiche? Would Shana break the tsun meter if Kirche summons her? Touhou's Mokou is a bit tsun, but she would definitely not be tsundere for Saito.

    ===================

Sorry, couldn't resist. I still don't think I should make a new thread for those since they are so small.

    Yet another LoZ/FoZ snippet

    ===============

    Tabitha's eyebrow was twitching.

It wasn't a small feat, none at all. She lived surrounded by teenagers and Kirche was her friend after all. Still, to manage to crack her unflappable facade was something that required the lowest hits, or being Link.

It had started innocently enough after Sylphid had tried to get in Tabitha's room and hide under the bed. Tabitha had politely inquired with Link if he had any plans to make a meal out of her familiar; thankfully, he was reluctant of eating somebody he knew. Sylphid still had been scared to spend long periods of time around the blond, though. Then, one day Link showed up when she had been trying to enjoy a book, scaring Sylphid. After it was agreed Link wouldn't try anything against the dragon, things calmed a little.

Link didn't try to open a conversation, which suited Tabitha just fine. He just stole glances every once in a while, which confused the young girl quite a lot; they weren't threatening at all, neither pitying or mocking.

After near an hour in silence, a solemn tone filled the air. It took her a moment to realize that the music was coming from the person sitting next to her. Her immediate reaction should have been of standing up, eyes fixed in the words, and leave. That didn't happen. She spent she didn't know how long staring before realizing what she was doing and returning to her book. The melody wasn't exactly distracting and it filled her with an unusual calm.

And so, she let him -and the music from his ocarina- be.

The next time she went to another courtyard, and Link found her again. There were no words this time just the boy sitting nearby and again, another melody broke the silence. The music came from a guitar, fast paced, accompanied by moments when Link made sounds from the guitar rather than the strings. She caught herself before she started nodding along with the music.

The next time, Link played a flute, giving her a happy yet relaxing melody. A little smile managed to tug her lips.

Next time, the harp played a low, melancholic tune that nearly brought tears to her eyes. It wasn't precisely a soul touching song, bur rather, it just seemed to fit so well with the story she was reading.

It was for that exact reason that Tabitha realized what Link was doing.

She put her book down and glared at Link, even as the boy kept on playing as if he couldn't feel the intensity of her eyes.

How could he read her so easily? Could he have mind reading magics? Could he know what books was she reading? If so, was he sneaking into her room to find about them, or ask Kirche about them? She couldn't tell.

She couldn't tell and that was driving her mad. Just as she couldn't tell he was skilled enough to be considered dangerous when he came, she couldn't tell why he was doing this, if he knew about her real identity, about how what was giving her away. She couldn't tell if he was trying to get close to her for his own agenda.

Clenching her hands around her book, she realized she couldn't think of Link in that way.

Standing up, she all but ran to her room, leaving behind the music that seemed to become much sadder than before.

Link didn't show up the next time she tried to read a book outside.

He didn't show the time after that one either.

Tabitha scanned her surroundings, not even pretending to read her book this time. She had checked for any kind of magic Link could have been using on her, but as far as she could tell, Link had done nothing but play harmless music. So why was she feeling so, so… she couldn't tell what she was feeling, she just knew she didn't feel right.

Giving up, Tabitha started to read her book, going through pages in book on Wind theory at a fast pace. She knew most of its contents to heart but it didn't hurt checking again. After a few minutes of relative peace, she heard somebody approaching and lifted her eyes a little. There was Link, raising his hands in a placating way. She kept her eyes on him for a long moment before inclining her head a fraction and returning her eyes to her book.

It was, however, with a pang in her chest that she realized Link wouldn't sit close to her. Rather, he flopped on the grass a few meters away from her. She refused to look again or ask him where he had been these past two days. She did everything she could to not ask him why he wasn't sitting next to her as he had done so before. She didn't ask him to play music either.

Then she heard him doing something with paper, she could hear him turning pages. Was he reading a book too? She didn't even knew he could read…

She stared at the same page for several minutes, internally debating if she should just ask him, or ask Kirche the next time they met; Kirche and Link seemed to be in very good terms. She could feel her eyebrow twitching a little and she bit her cheek, trying to remain calm. It was then that she heard the scratching.

She blinked several times. What could Link be writing? But, the strokes were too long and too short… She knitted her brow a little, wondering what type of language was Link writing in.

Taking a longer breath she lifted her eyes for a moment.

Link was looking at her, a notebook in one hand and a pencil in the other.

She blinked twice and then lifted her book to cover her face.

Why was Link making a drawing of her?

She heard him turning a page and start another drawing…

She remained in the same position, feeling her cheeks warming up. Her book remained in the same page the entire time.

    ==============

I remember the drawings Link has in his house in TP. Mostly sketches of animals.

Considering how good he is with music and dancing, I suppose he must have innate skills in beauty arts along with his improbable weapon skills.

LoZ/FoZ needs it's own thread. Seriously mate. Win. And WAFF.
  6. Guile Let them eat shrimp

That would be neat, but someone besides me would have to write it. I don't know Shakugan no Shana well enough, and writing from the perspective of a blind girl is hard (I've tried writing for Toph and failed before).
  7. Darth Artemis Hero Prinny

Indeed. The only complaint I have is that you're mixing all the Links together into some kind of composite SuperLink which is going to make it really hard to write interesting fight scenes.
  8. been playing blazblue recently if louise summons Ragnar the bloodedge i wonder how he do in this harem settling?

  9. Darth Artemis Hero Prinny

I'm pretty sure the entire cast of BlazBlue is already at army-slaying levels even without the Gandalfr runes. And Ragna isn't likely to stick around even if he lets Louise bind him for some reason.
  10. WAFF
Now I'm can't help but ship the two in my head.

While I do really like Blazblue(enough to cosplay it), I think it really in the overpowered and will the break the setting category.
  11. not so much of super, more of him no longer going blind into the whole hero business thing. He already learned more about dealing with people and society outside the Lost Woods.

I just having Link with some innate skills that may or may not be part of being the Hero: using weapons, music instruments and dancing. I just decided to add drawing too. Can't really imagine him being a poet, though.
  12. Tom Mathews also known as Disruptor

How about something that looks like an elf, but isn't?

Zanillo the Rouge Magician from Talislanta. Yes, he is a wizard and a prankster at heart. He has NO reason to leave and every reason to stay considering the best time to summon him is during the Great Disaster as the city of Locus was hurled into space.

The various races on Talislanta have pointed ears, but they aren't elves.

He disgraced a detractor by the name of Rodin with a plot that had the story that Rodin was having his way with the wife and seven duaghters of the King of Pompados and when it was revealed what just went on, he used his trickery to get off with just a warning.

Turning Lousie into an elf would be a fine prank for him.
  13. A question that I don't think has been asked, what sort of familiar does Louise need? Not what sort of powers, as has been noted even someone as stupid as canon Saito can't manage to lose with the runes helping him so what sort of person does she need as a familiar?
  14. Generally, anyone willing to follow along with a spoiled noble girl.
Though, the Gandalf is believed to provide that. Doesn't mean they will get along well as Sasha's and Brimir's relationship shows.

Saito, she was generally able to coerce by physical abuse and being his only means of shelter and food(at first).

Shirou was willing to go with the flow at first before going on 'strike' on their partnership.
  15. Not what sort of familiar she wants, what she needs. I really don't think someone who'll just follow along and reinforce her bad traits would be good for her.
  16. Carandol Custos Sophiae

Before deciding what she needs, you need to know what she ought to become. Then you can pick a familiar that will steer her that way.

Jeeves, the perfect manservant, could probably get her to be a decent human being, and handle the political intrigue into the bargain, but he wouldn't be much use with magic. Nanny Ogg would correct her faults, and introduce her to a few new pleasures, but she'd also make Louise into a Discworld-style witch, which might not be the best use of her talents. TH White's version of Merlin taught King Arthur how to be the ideal king; he'd certainly be able to handle Louise, but does she need to become the ideal noblewoman?

Pick your goal for her, and make your choice.

    Gendo Shinkicker.
  18. Sayle Praise Vectron!

Put this in the wrong one!

She summons Albus Dumbledore, just after his death. The curse in his hand is no longer active, and he still has the Elder Wand as well as an ever-full paper bag of lemon drops and assorted sweets. He rather expected the Next Great Adventure to involve meeting those he had lost (Ariana and Gellert, primarily), but he isn't quite sure whether he has been reincarnated or reconstructed or whether the afterlife is a bit different from what he expected.

    Meet the Transfiguration Master, Tristain.

  20. Imagine the reaction when her familiar declares itself to be a member of "Those Who Hunt Elves"

    or

when her familiars declare themselves to be "Those Who Hunt Elves"

That was awesome! The commentary... and she conquered hell.

  22. Darth Artemis Hero Prinny

For a moment, all is silent. The rampaging beast of a man is brought to a halt beneath the light of the Ring of Andvari, his massive blade poised mere millimeters from Cromwell's neck. Another second and he would have been a foot shorter.

The false priest breaths a sigh of relief, and Wardes slips his rapier back into its sheath. Their response comes a moment too soon.

The man in front of them erupts, an enraged and incoherent roar tearing from his throat and echoing off the walls, and the sword which nearly beheaded Cromwell a moment ago strikes out again to finish the job. It is only by way of Cromwell's cowardice -- his knees having weakened in the face of the deathly howl -- that it does not immediately find its target, instead claiming the very top of Cromwell's scalp as he collapses to the ground. The void mage yowls in pain and frantically scuttles back away from the man before him as Wardes leaps forward to defend him, locking blades with the monstrous figure. It quickly becomes apparent that this was not his brightest idea; the strength of the man before him is nothing short of demonic. His rapier, enchanted with great strength to become the finest of weapons, stronger than the finest steel, is subtly but noticeably bent in several places after only a single exchange of blows. When an opening appears, Wardes takes it, leaping back from his opponent while still keeping himself interposed between his adversary and Cromwell. His concern is unwarranted; the figure's target is no longer Cromwell, but the unconscious girl Wardes brought here with him. By the time Wardes has completed his retreat, his opponent has already moved to the girl's side and taken a defensive stance over Louise's body.

"I don't understand," Cromwell mewls, clutching his mangled scalp, "how can he still move? None can resist the Ring of Andvari! It isn't possible!"

Before Wardes can offer any input, the monster speaks.

"Your will is weak, and your sorceries pitiful!" The man spits contemptuously. "My sword belongs to the Lady Louise and to none other. No craven dog who cowers in the face of an adversary will claim my loyalty no matter his tricks and traps, not in this lifetime nor in any other!"

    [yt]Lupjqqb8Qa0[/yt]

And in that moment, the man's presence seems to overpower everything in the room, as if it were not a man but a god who stood before them.

"On this sword I swear: all who threaten the life and the livelihood of Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière shall find their end on the edge of my sword! I am Wodan! Wodan Ymir! The Sword of Louise!"
  23. Guile Let them eat shrimp

He's the Hero. He can do anything.

Well, except anything that requires a better education than gamboling around in the woods with faerie-children.

Congratulations. We may have a new winner for "worst familiar ever."

    Funny, though.

    Also fun.

"Yeah, we had to hunt down elves for a while there... no, we didn't need to kill them, what's wrong with you? We just strip 'em down and search every inch of their bodies looking for mystical runes."

    *Tiffania stares back in horror*
  24. Prince Charon Just zis guy, you know?

As an interesting alternative to the Blood Elf idea, what if Louise summoned a Storm Elf? WARNING: while the page directly linked to should be pretty SFW, nearly all of the other pics in the Storm Elf gallery are very not. Most Storm Elves don't like to wear much clothing, and some won't where any, for religious/philosophical reasons. What that says about Reiko-Foxx, the artist who I'm pretty sure created them, I won't speculate on.

The origins of the Storm Elves, or Mahtan'dorei, is quoted below, from the description section of a NSFW pic called 'The Tempest Borne V2':

(If the link doesn't work, try typing 'Storm Elf Concept Notes' into deviantART's search engine.)
  25. Doomsought Sliver Overlord

That would be worse than summoning an elf... summoning a exhibitionist elf.
The problem is they are lightening aligned (AIR + Positive-Energy), rather than void. Then again that is Void/Air...
    Hilarity ensues.
