Limited to Kanas city for now..... but free 10mbit internet (+300$ for instillation), and 1000 mbit internet for 70 bucks a month....

    I am green with envy.

    God damn you Kansas City

So, how do they make money with this?
  3. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

Its google, they own the largest share of internet ad providers, the more people that see them, the more money they make.

  4. Advertising. Google gives away so many of their products for free because they're really an ad company with a technology wing.

Let's hope this is profitable for Google. In 5 years, I'm going to want free broadband.

Google: Because really, we just wanna own the Internet.

    Don't be evil, right?

They have 3 plans..... all better then any other plans on the American market.

    #2:
Up to one gigabit upload & download • No data caps • 1 year contract • $300 waived construction fee
Network Box included • 1TB Google Drive •
    $70/mo + taxes & fees

    #3:
Up to 5Mbps download, 1Mbps upload speed • No data caps • Free service guaranteed for at least 7 years • Includes Network Box
$300 construction fee (one time or 12 monthly payments of $25) + taxes and fees

  12. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

    Fixed :p

Anyway, I can not wait to see how much of a fit the other isp's make of this, google just took the bottom off the market, and its a long way down.

Meh. I get 10mbit+ on my DOCSIS 2.0 cable already (it's actually closer to 30mbit), gigabit would be interesting, but probably not very cpu-friendly unless they allow jumbo frames, which is pretty much unheard of outside of LANs.

    Victory Google?

    Do you mean HEIL GOOGLE!?
  16. Sidewaysvision Omnipotent on fridays

Just waiting for the day when they have complete control of the Internet.

But free broadband is hella hard to compete with.

Until they put the mind-control messaging in the banner ads. =P

If people get somewhat excited about free high speed internet access, imagine the people who'd shit a brick at the prospect of free energy for everyone. ;)
  18. Victory Google works seeing as Google just won everything forever and all.

I think they just made Verzion's Quantam FIOS (300Mbit) looks a very truly expensive broadband tier. $205 USD per month vs $70 USD per month for Google's 1000Mbit.
  20. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

Oh, its not thats its free, in the USA, every isp is an evil dick who charges 50+ for 1mb internet.....
  21. I'm guessing its Google that will make that to...

  24. Someday you will wake up in your Google house, with a Google breakfast cooking for you and Google news running at your preferences. You'll get into your Google car and drive off to work at your job, which was found for you by Google. At this rate, Google will someday rule the entire world. I don't know what's scarier, the fact that that is not entirely an exaggeration or the fact that I am pretty much okay with it.
