Very nice update.
It was nice to see the Covenant get beaten back - even though they did kind of have the last word due to those damned energy projectors - it should put them on notice that the days of effortless victories are over. I imagine one of the UNSC's main goals will be to capture a Covenant ship intact so they can examine its technology and since your UNSC is alot more competent than the canon one they shouldn't have as much trouble with reverse engineering - especially as they already have analagous systems in some cases. Like the point defence lasers and particle beam cannons seen in a previous chapter - though I did notice you seemed to forget about the former in this chapter.
When it comes to computer security and information warfare the Colonials do seem to be somewhat hopeless. Maybe that's something Turrasta could have the UNSC help them with.
As for the Cylons I may be thinking of another story. But did not the Colonials lure a Covenant group into Cylon space? Leading to the Cylons becoming targets, and according to the Sanheilli boarding party rather pathetic robot troops at that?
Yes. The Colonials got the Cylons involved despite the Cylons not wanting to become involved. The basic idea was that if the Covenant are busy also killing the Cylons that it will give the Colonials some breathing room. The fact that it also hurts the Cylons is just a bonus for most of the Colonials actually involved in giving that order.
As for the particle cannons not making an apperance I believe it was said that they were still prototypes and only a handful of ships were fitted with them. It's quite likely that the UNSC simply didn't have any particle cannon equiped ships in that particular fleet.
Also while the Covenant did get the "last laugh" with the energy projectors the fact is that the USNC and Colonials know about them now, thus they can put priotity targeting on the ships that have them/are likely to have them. A lot of the usefulness of the projector goes out the window when the enemy does a tactical jump right on top of the ships that have them.
Yeah, I'm putting together a little 'codex' type of thing so I can more easily keep track of the differences between this and canon...
Fighting in close quarters with Elites makes most things look pathetic...
Good battle.... The Colonials gets some more experience and the Covenant gets some more defeats...

Cheers. I know it's been a while, but apparently some of my FFN readers were thinking about removing me from their alerts list...bunch of whiners .
Oh, and next update (working on it now...) is going to finsih dealing with the situation on Harvest. Remember that MBT I described way back in chapter 14? I'm going to be giving it it's own action scene...
Looking forward to it Turrasta.
I'm still waiting for the day the 12 colonies find out about the true extent of their power, and just how far their power goes.
Do the drivers have a motto akin to as I charge through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for I drive a house sized mass of fuck you?
I want to see DeSenta's reaction upon arriving on Reach. The world is a centre of UNSC military, right?
...stay out of my brain.
Yep. It's were the largest shipyards and war machine factories are located, and where most special projects and research are undertaken as well as where most military personell go for training.
Got a pic of the MBT ?
Just letting everyone know that per the new 20+ page thread limit, I'll be PMing a mod and requesting that this thread be locked. Any further updates or discussion will go on in another thread.
I hope the new thread will get a new update as well.
SO they captured a covenant ship and some aliens, i wonder if there are any enginneers. TO crack their language, best bet would be an AI. would allow thewm to upgrade current tech, as well as fix non working tech.
