No noticeable lag on my end, balance wise, I'm not too sure on, but I have noticed some oddities creeping up when I fight missile heavy enemies. Sometimes after wiping their fleet with no losses and all enemy missiles already missed/impacted, I enter the end phase where the repairs start... and my ships blow up for no particular reason.
something that bugs me is how fucking slow ships repair when out of battle. you're seriously going to tell me i can magic up a 20% repair during a few minutes of battle but it takes multiple decades to repair ships with the help of a shipyard that can churn out a high-tech cruiser every year?
It's unions see. In the middle of combat when plasma fire is slamming in the bulkheads, and the only thing between you and hard vacuum is breakneck labour, nobody really quibbles over things like mandatory breaks, overtime and all that. But once you're safe and sound, orbiting a world with nice leisure facilities and disposable income...
Anybody up for a mp game? We should post our steam IDs. A few repair modules in your fleet makes them repair much faster, also if you pay to retrofit your damaged fleet and it will repair them as well.
Click on the portrait, if I remember correctly. Also, I just won an economic victory. It claimed I had 300,000 Dust. When I had about 15,000. Bit odd, there.
how do i put modules like that in ships? all i can access is defenses, weapons, and the 'support column' which consists of power systems, armor and invasion weapons
so I'm playing as a craver and i have to agree with previous sentiments about missiles. They're overpowered. I have better tech and ships but i just lost a well-rounded cruiser to a torpedo boat.
In this game, if you try to do a bunch of everything, you're actually not doing much of anything. Try to keep track of what the enemy is doing, and design your ships to counter theirs.
Ok...will this take away the pain of Sots2 from me? (I was a pre-order and the game is still being updated...) I'm nervous about pre-ordering so can anyone who had the misfortune of pre-ordering Sots2 comment on the quality level of the game right now?
It's pretty damn good for an Alpha build. In fact, unless you're paying attention, it's hard to see that it's not release quality. So, yeah. Better than SOTS2 has been at any point. It's crashed once, for me, and there's the occasional odd glitch, and a few annoying bugs, but other than that, it's pretty good. EDIT: Well, it's somewhat unbalanced and some of the techs don't work, but other than that...
Park fleet in system, hit 'Invade' button. Wait several turns until complete. It's not that complicated, really. There's a system defence value (which you can change by building some improvements) and a ship invasion value (changeable by specific modules), which contribute to a slowly shifting system ownership bar.
...So there's no image of your power armored infantry valiantly slaughtering those filthy aliens ala MoO2 or Galciv 2?
It has been suggested several times, with the verdict of the devs being "don't hold your breath", at least for the initial release. They hinted on it being a possible expansion feature. Invasion combat really is one of the weakest parts of the game.
I really hope that they change the RPS defenses into something more interesting. Either you have the correct defense and your ships are invulnerable or you don't in which case it would have been better to just spend the mass on weapons instead.
Yeah, I hated that bit of GalCiv's battle system as well. Hopefully they'll make some improvements in that regard.
