I have seen a number of people changing the color of their text to "transparent" and claiming that it's to prevent spoilers. This is a problem, because transparent is not a color, and can not be reversed into visibility on certain operating systems, meaning that you need to hit reply or copy the text and paste it into another window in order to read something. This is especially a problem as one of the operating systems in question is the iphone, meaning that the most practical way to read it is the quote method, but this loads an entirely new page, and can be killer on your data bill. It would be great if a passing admin read this and disabled transparent text, and, hopefully, enabled a functioning spoiler tag, although I'm not holding my breath there.
Simple solution: Don't use an iPhone. And honestly, if loading a reply is killing your data bill, you must have a very, very tiny data limit. Because most SB reply pages are going to be rated in kilobytes. Also, can't iPhones select text? Or is this yet another shortcoming of the whole touchscreen? *hugs his Blackberry Torch* As to your last, I'd say you hope the Admins do something, but then state you aren't going to hold your breath is likely not the best way to get people to do something for you. WHile yes, it would be nice to get a proper spoiler tag, guess what, the old vB spoiler tag would have the same problem that you are having now, since it just puts a black highlight over the black text to make it "hidden". So unless they go with spoiler boxes, which many have said they'd rather not have since it screws up the formatting of a post if you just want to spoiler out a single line, since the box open creates a quote-style box in the middle of the post.
Okay, this is the first I'd ever heard of this not working for someone. I even provided evidence that it was not the case and that it might be on their end. More people even backed me up in that they could see it despite what Bailey said. But today Bailey tried to say it was an OS problem. I again provided evidence to the contrary. I'm honestly not sure why you're being so obstinate about this Bailey, it's just a spoiler. If you really want to know whats behind it so badly then just read the story or, as you said, use the reply function to take a look at it.
When I say I can't see shit when spoilers are used, I mean I can't see it at all. Even if I change the background color and transparency or the like. Or even when I copy/paste the highlighted section (all I see if a large blank section I just copy/pasted). But then you don't see me being so anal about it to keep whining. Let the Admins handle it, and frankly, it isn't horrible enough of a bad thing for me to care much about it. SB is back, for just that much, I'm grateful.
I also can't see Transparent text via highlighting, but that's because I use noscript and haven't allowed Spacebattles.com.
I'm not sure it's NoScripts fault either. I tested it out for myself and I could still highlight transparent text. Screenshot
Under what possible circumstances could you think that highlighting text on this particular website is a function of javascript?
