In a similar vein, I suggested Mace Windu earlier. I'm no Star Wars buff, but I did research his Form VII lightsaber fighting style. Combined with the Gandalfr Runes, which is fueled by emotions, I figure Mace would either be the most unstoppable force ever (no pun intended), or he'll go corkscrewing into the Dark Side so hard, he'll accidentally end up back on the Light Side with a jheri curl and a pistol-saber.
  3. Lifelink Breaking a dragon's heart? That's a paddling.

Would giving Lu Bu from the Dynasty Warriors franchise the Gandalfr runes be breaking the setting?
  4. SVNB Backup High Altitude/Low Orbit

True, true, but maybe what I chose to quote didn't talk about what I was talking about. Which in itself was admittedly very little.

It's character development. Anakin Skywalker is full of guilt and regret when he dies. Being forgiven by his homies won't make any of that better; he's an action-oriented kind of guy. He has to earn his own absolution himself.

Being summoned to Halkeginia gives him that second chance. And if The Clone Wars is to be taken as canon, he's got at least some experience dealing with impulsive, bullheaded lolis.

With Louise, she gets a mentor. That's what Kreia's about, that's what those awesome Yoda snippets by Midnak were about. But not only that, she gets a mentor who used to be as much of a jerk as she is and wants to make up for it. Skywalker can be an example for her.

Edit1: You know what? Ikrit from the EU would be even better.

As bad as the shock harness was, it doesn't exactly compare to destroying an inhabited planet.

Mace is cool but I think he's a bit too centered for this. Mace has the wisdom and a cool enough head to use Vaapad without falling to the dark side, and the runes aren't a big enough influence on the familiar's mind that he'd be in danger of falling to the dark side out of concern for Louise.

On the other hand, you could get a lot of growth and conflict out of a Sith Lord who follows the way of the Order of Revan, like my own Sith Marauder Lyos Aman/Darth Xion; there you have a character who knows that the Sith Code is missing something and "knows" that the Jedi are wrong as well but doesn't have an answer as to what the true way of the Force is, and so seeks wisdom wherever he can find it regardless of who's giving it. This is the sort of character who could teach Louise about channeling and chaining her emotions so that she can wield them without being controlled by them, but at the same time might themselves learn something from Louise and from the people around her.
  7. A Force User not being an emotionless robot, or a cartoonishly evil hedonist/masochist/sadist?!?

    Heresy!

Seriously though, Kriea is about as close as you can get to the character you mentioned, canonically, (ha!). Your OC is a KOTOR II protagonist?
  8. Darth Artemis Hero Prinny

Close. Lyos is one of my characters on The Old Republic, the new KOTOR MMORPG that just came out in late December. I think I was surprised as anyone that it's possible to be a light-side and/or "grey" Sith just like you can play a Dark Jedi on the Republic side if you want.

Of course you're still working for much more traditional Sith most of the time but you can definitely make a choice to give an enemy a clean death rather than torture them (or not kill them at all in some circumstances), and there's at least one quest where you can take a Jedi holocron back to your quest-giver and spread light-side teachings around a little. On the grounds of "know your enemy" sure, but you still get a light-side alignment boost for it.

    I wrote this......about a year ago.
Figures, it might fit in here.

The summoned Familiar is from the RPG: Aberant by White-Wolf. It's basically a Super's setting.

    "Kunoichi, You are under Arrest!"

That was the first sign that I was in trouble. I had been heading out to the damn supermarket when I got that prickling, that feeling of being watched. Oh sure, I may have done a few naughty things in the past, but that was years ago. Before I erupted. Since then I've been strictly on the legal side of things. Well, mostly.

    Kind of

    Sort of.

Well. Not really if you want to be precise.

I'm what the baselines call a Nova. Thousands of years of evolution have finally paid off for the human race and we have finally evolved past the basic human template. Through a process known as Eruption, a bit of my brain grew, through the most excruciating headache you can imagine, fuelled by Quantum energies, giving me abilities that almost all the human race would give their right arm for. Me, I control the shadows. They are mine and mine alone to control. Oh sure, I'm better looking, more than human. Stronger, much faster, tougher and so on. In fact, De Vries say that I am amplified physically and mentally beyond human norms across the board. Not to mention the way the shadows obey me. It's like they are living things that leap to my command. Pretty awesome hey?

I wasnt always like this. I was a normal human, working for people much more powerful than myself. I obeyed because if I didnt, I would have been killed. Sure, I had a great lifestyle, I partied hard, slept with the best looking guys and girls, I drank the best champagne. But there was a price. A catch. Rent. If I didnt want to get in trouble with both the law and my boss, I had to do a few job. So, I did.

Of course, it all caught up with me. Then, in one wonderful and horrible night, Shadows tore apart those who wanted me dead. I later found out that that I was one of dozens around the world to awaken that week. March 30 1998. I was found crippled by my migraine and taken to the hospital. CAT scans revealed the presence of a lump in my brain. It wasnt till later that we found out about the MR Node.

Once I was healthy, I was arrested and tried. Fortunately, the jury couldnt believe that a nice, innocent girl like me could have done all those horrible things. The things I drank like a fish to try to forget about. They believed me when I pointed out that I was being framed by horrible criminals. After all, they were trying to kill me.

So, free, I fled Japan as fast as I could. Living the high life, with Princes, Tychoons and Executives paying for my every whim. It was only later that I realised what I had become. In a way, I was lucky. I met Raoul Ortzaiz. It was him he taught me what I truely was. I was more than human. Better. However, while I was better, that in no way excused me from social responsibility. He taught me about freedom of choice. Something I had never truely known before. We were lovers, party goers and friends. He even helped me build my second identity. One day I was Kunoichi, the Nova party girl and another, I was Kimiko Suzuki, shy, mild mannered baseline bookworm. It was this second identity that allowed me to move around, hidden.

Of course, the party always ends. He had joined the Teragen by then. I knew of them, but was hesitant. That much freedom scared me. All my life, I've had a leash, a master. I was a pampered and spoiled pet who was occasionally let off the leash but otherwise, I was owned.

To be free was daunting indeed.

After a year of thinking, I joined De Vries. Being an Elite wasnt the most glamorous work in the world, but it sure paid well. I was powerful, definately in the top 20 percent, but I didnt wear a mask. I was executive protection. If you needed a bodyguard who wouldnt be seen as such? That was me. In a beautiful dress or suit, smiling and seductive. I was the arm candy who was the last line of defence an assassin would have to get past to get to my client. High risk, but paid a small fortune on a monthly basis. Fat unattractive executives would pay anything to have me pretend to care what they though. De Vries owned me and I was happy.

Then I met Raoul again. This time in the company of Mal. Nothing can truely prepare you for the sheer presence of the man. If man is even a term. He is beyond being a Man and heading into the divine. Or at least that was my first thought. then he opened his mouth. It took me a few minutes to collect myself, to firm up my socialite mask while my mind worked as hard as it could. He had been watching me. He liked what he saw. He wanted me. He wanted all of me, the good and the bad. He wanted me to belong to him and be free.

Gods above and below, I couldnt have said no if I wanted to. I had solid mental shields, I mean, really solid. I've had mental Nova's bounce their mind reading off my skull when they overcharged. He wasnt using a single one of his powers. He was talking directly to my heart and knew how to get me.

So, Raoul bought out my contract from De Vries and officially, I worked for him. They both knew I had my quirks, that I wanted to be owned. If only for the freedom it gave me. It would never be enforced, but it was my security blanket.

Shadow Maiden died that day and Kunoichi was born. I was trained in ways I'd never dreamed of. Models were run of my powers. My powers were explained to me in ways I had never considered. Subconscious channeling of my development meant I could now predict my growth of power. Philosphy, Physics and Poetry.

Then came the catch. It was the one I knew was coming. the baited hook I had knowingly swallowed.

Sometimes, there were people who were more than a little militant about their hatred of Novas. People like the Church of Michael who killed The Houston Tornado. My job was, once given a target, to kill or destroy them. Seduction, Assassination, Blackmail. Whatever it took to keep my people safe. Anti-Nova cults had their leaders photographed sleeping with obvious Nova's. Or had their head removed. Seduction of politicians. Long steamy nights with all sorts of kinks were recorded and then the fool was blackmailed. I was the sacrifice for my brothers and sisters. I was the dark side of the coin to Geisha. Mal's little insult towards Utopia.

Of course, sooner or later, I would be found out. We already knew that. What I couldn't predict was that they knew my secret. They knew of Kimiko, my baseline form. Then, they, Team Bloody Tomorrow, complete with media and cameras moved to capture me.

A jet of super-high pressure water rocketed past my head as I twisted around a bolt of lightening. Wonderful, Here I was, not out to cause problems or worried about anything except how to prepare the Lamb for tonite's dinner party, when I was ambushed. Nuclear Fire, hot as the sun and cold and deep as ice flowed through me as I ignited my soul. My form grew, my Eufibre outfit flowing around me like the shadows I so loved, forming my costume. This time, I left the mask off. No point hiding now, I'd been found.

Focusing my will, shadows coalesced around my hand, forming foot long talons from my fingers. I dove to the side and pumped more energy into my body, feeling the world slow down. My hand lashed out, severing the vines that were about to grab me, while I focused my will and blanketed the area with my shadows. This allowed me to cut a hole in the wall of an alley and jump in. Sliding my body through the icy cold shadows, to erupt a block away.

Of course, that's when a fist that felt like a jackhammer connected. I've sparred with Raoul, I've sparred with Geryon. They are some of the finest hand to hand fighters in the world. Where one has amazing skill and the other is a brawler, they both have incredible strength that allows them to throw cars if need be. This fist was even stronger. As I lay there for the moment, dazed, with my energies being sucked from my core to heal my body, I realised two things. First, that this team was far more dangerous and competant than the first team I had to flee from. Second, that Ragnarockette was as strong as she was hot. Now, I'm above mortal strength, but she hits harder than Raoul. Throw in that amazing body and if she wasn't on their side, I'd be kneeling at her feet about now.

Ok, focus. Time for fun later.

I managed to stagger to my feet as the rest of the team arrived. I'd had skin and body hardening excersizes done to me for a year by masters. I could bounce heavy calibre bullets from my skin if I choose. I was faster in a fight than even most members of Team Tomorrow, I could teleport, I had claws that could cut through steel, the shadows themselves obeyed me in any way I saw fit. I was so going to loose this.

Which meant, The Pit. T2M's hidden high security vault, where people like me, who had been through the Chrysalis would be taken, pumped full of drugs until my energies were gone, then raped, vivisected and more.

    I'd sooner die.

Shadows lashed out around me in a sphere of destruction. I saw Splash get a beautiful slash across her face and stomach, as shadows sharper than any razor flew around me, made manifest by my will. I threw up a wall of shadows in time to block Slag's flames and Psyche's Mental Devestation attack. Then it shattered under Ragnarockette's fist.

By then, I had merged with the shadows to such an extent that I was nearly intangible, allowing me to twist around the fist and straight into Thorn's fist. Of all the team members I was facing, he was the one I was most scared of. He'd worked as an Elite too. He knew how to take me down.

That's when I felt it. There was another Nova present. One who I'd never heard of before, but, as light returned and I could feel my quantum energies being drained out of me, I knew I'd never forget or forgive. They weren't going for the kill. They wanted me alive.

I dove forward, punching Thorn as hard as I could as I focused the last dregs of my energies through my body. This gave me the split second to run as fast as I could, out of the unknown's range, to give me time to tear energy from my very cells to fuel my escape. Forming a shadow-portal to Paris, I knew I would have time, once I got there to rest and regain my strength. As I dove towards it, I was horrified to see the center of it turn green. My flying body twisted and contorted, trying to escape my momentum. But the disk actually shifted in mid air, some unknown Warping technique that could be aimed. I was hurt, out of energy, out of time and as I flew through it, I knew, I was out of luck.

    Time to pay the price.
    .............

In years past, looking back on what happened, I really could have made a more graceful entrance.

Of course, when your jaw is hanging loose and definitely dislocated, your costume is hanging in tatters, leaving you half naked, you've had to rip energy out of your body to survive and you come in through a portal sideways, you will not, under most circumstance, make the best impression. Especially if your response to the landing is to lay there and groan for a few seconds, before you try and fail to stand.

"Professor Colbert?" Clearly it was a young girl talking. In French no less. That was odd, but good. Maybe I did make it to Paris.

"Yes, Miss Vallière?" An old man this time. So, this might not be The Pit. That was good. Maybe my portal took me elsewhere. I struggled to open my eyes.
"Please! Let me try the summoning once more!" Hang on..... summoning?
Mr. Colbert shook his head, refusing the idea. "I cannot allow that, Miss Vallière."

    "Why not?" asked the girl.

"It is strictly forbidden. When you are promoted to a second year student, you must summon a familiar which is precisely what you just did."

"Gah" Ok, not the most inspiring first word, but I really didn't care. I was exhausted, had broken ribs, a broken jaw and felt like I'd just taken on Team Tomorrow all by myself. Oh. Wait. I had. Ok, Making the effort, I managed to pull myself up up onto my elbow and take a look around. Even with my energies so depleted, my body was far more resistant to pain. On a normal baseline, I was sure they would be crippled by now. Me? I just felt like a bus had run me over.

"But, Professor!" Oh the girl was talking again. Peering up, I was shocked. I was outside a castle, a real castle. One I had never seen before. To top it off, I was surrounded by children. Well, teenagers. Still at the age when melodrama and N! News is the most important thing in the world. Children dressed like something crossing the middle ages with one of those Anime I used to watch as a kid. To top it off they were holding rods, sticks and one of them had some kind of shepards crook. What the hell?

I didn't hear what was said next, as I used my free hand, the one not busy holding me up, to snap my jaw back into place. I barely managed to resist the groan of pain. It doesn't matter how powerful you are, snapping a bone back into place is going to hurt. Unfortunately, because my body heals so fast, and I had an 'acceptable' tolerance to pain, I was never taught how to do it properly. Just set the bits in the right place and let your Quantum Resonance reset your body to the template of your aura. Or something like that. My head felt like it was packed in cotton and I was trying to think through jello. Or Sloppy Joe's body. Same thing.

Heh, I bet I got some flinches from the sound that made too. Now, I just needed sleep. Lots of sleep.

Unfortunately, I wasn't going to get it. No sooner had I managed to get my jaw in place and moving properly. Not to mention begin to get my bearings, than the pink haired girl kissed me. Now, normally I have no problem kissing girls. Or guys. I'm an equal opportunity kind of girl like that. However, I must have looked a sight. Hardly desirable, I was battle damaged, bleeding and dressed in rags. I just hoped I could get away before they let the Utopians know I was here. I'm sure the fight would be on N! by the evening news. Proud wankers chase off the dangerous evil Nova before she could buy any rosemary for her lamb. I can see the headline now.

Then the pain hit. I'd imagine, if I was at full health, it wouldn't have been so bad. As it was, in my current state, it was like someone had poured acid into my veins. My brain exploded with fire. My body heaved. The kid or someone must be using one nasty effect on me. Except, I could feel the energies in my body leaping forward to embrace the foreign energy pushed into me. I could feel it bonding with every part of my body. It wasn't harming me, it hurt. It hurt like I was being flayed, but, it was doing something else. Then it was gone, leaving the blissful afterglow of endorphins as I gasped in relief.

"Wow, that was a rush and a half." Looking around as I could feel the introduced energies flowing around my body, being used in place of my own to help heal my body, I noticed that the kids were staring at me in shock.

Well, that cut it for me, I pulled myself to my feet, absently commanding my Eufibre suit to shift into a more suitable form. Since they wanted to dress like cosplayers, I decided to join in. ankle height slippers, ankle height dress, with a slit up to the waist, stockings and suspenders and a corset to nicely lift and cup Finally, elbow length gloves to top it off. All in black of course. Yes, I was damn hot and it seems that it was beginning to seep into peoples heads. Hell, with some of my energy rejuvenated by.... well, it might have been some kind of Quantum Transfer technique. It needs work if it was, my true self could show throw. Sure, I was attractive enough in my baseline form and even when drained, I was at the peak of human beauty. But now? Now I was a goddess made flesh. Well, in my opinion anyway. The odd thing was that none of them would meet my eyes. Which was odd. I mean, I've been through Chrysalis. But I'm not that inhuman, the only aberration I've manifested would be that unless my hair it in a plait, bun or tied back tightly, it tends to sway in breeze. Even when I am in a closed room. Still, it could be worse, the Chrysalis managed to cure my sociopath tendencies. It was a fair trade.

Now, looking around, I cant help but be a little confused. I mean, surely they have recognized I was a Nova by now. It's not like we aren't in the news every day and the focus of the entire world.

"Familiar!" huh? The pink haired girl is talking to me. "What do you think you are doing?"

    "Eh? Familiar? What's a familiar?"

Thats it for tonite, Lousie has summoned a Teragen member. Not one of the True Believers, thats for sure, but in no way does she consider herself to be a 'Human'.

Oh. Oh-ho, wait a second. Grey Sith, Grey Jedi. That gives me ideas.

Gentlemen, I present for your consideration the only Jedi familiar more awesome than Kreia: Jolee Bindo, the only Jedi capable of subduing his enemies by snarking them into submission.

I posted in back in Feb last year, here. I had an idea for a full story, but......

Then I read some of the light novels and....wow... was just filled with distatse for the setting. It's a setting in dire need of purging with fire. The sheer, selfish arrogance of so many of the characters....

The entire concept was going to be based on the introduction of Personal Divinity. That having power makes them better, but at the same time, gives a heavier responsibility. Basically an introduction of the Null Manifesto to local politics.

Plus of course, the chaos and heresy that it would cause.

Lupin III is, well... oh! That reminds me! Castle of Cagliostro is officially up on Youtube. Here's a link to one of the older films, which captures the spirit of Lupin III.

Of the three (Zenigata, Jigen, Lupin), Jigen would have the most long-term trouble since his schtick is his marksmanship (and I doubt he'd have much ammunition on him if he went through a glowing portal). Zenigata would lead to him trying to drag Louise across the planet to catch the Isaac and Miria analogue (or some amazing cuff-fu to catch Fouquet), and Lupin... he's Lupin. I could... sort of see him allying with Fouquet, until she allies with the revolution at least (but if he allied with her before the Revolution could bail her out..).

"And next, the final person is..."

The pink haired girl at the center of everyone's attention was a hodge-podge of emotions. Hope, confidence, anxiety, terror, all of it and more flowing through her mind. She had practiced this, she could do it! ...But, what if she didn't? After all, she was-

"Louise! Louise Francoise Le Blanc De La Valliere," a bald teacher - Colbert - called out.

"Yes!" Her formal name, yes. But amongst her classmates, 'The Zero' was a more common choice of names. Whispers throughout the crowd reminded her of this fact, and did nothing to calm her nerves.

"Haa... fuu..." A forced calm breath, this was it. "My name is Louise Francoise Le Blanc De La Valliere. Pentagon of The Five Elemental Powers, heed my Summoning..." a bright glow, visible even through her closed eyes. A good sign. A very good sign. She was doing it! "And bring forth... my Familiar!"

    ~ ~ ~ ~

Elsewhere, as Louise's anxiety melted away with a flood of hope, another was finding themselves in the opposite situation.

"This is the last time I'll say this," stated King Sweyn, putting on as calm a face as he could manage. "Withdraw your sword, Askeladd." While the situation was far from recovery, the most important order of business was removing the current threat to his life.

"That's just a nickname," responded who could only be Askeladd. Set in his course, no other path remaining, his sword did not waver. "Let me teach you the real name my mother gave to me. Lucius Artorius Castus."

Movement. Someone from the crowd had tossed something toward Askeladd. In a reflexive twitch, the sword went from Sweyn's throat to over Askeladd's shoulder. The only chance Sweyn's guards would get.

    "Now!"

Before they could act, before Sweyn could move, Askeladd's sword flicked out once more. This time, it was not a drinking horn that fell to the floor, but the King's head. His crown rolled, then tumbled, clattering to a stop at the foot of his throne. The silence in the room was palpable as Askeladd shook Sweyn's blood at his feet. "Heh, that cut nicely." Eyes remained locked on Askeladd and the dead Sweyn, no-one quite yet believing what just happened. "Now then..." A final moment of silence, before two voices rang out.

"Get him! He's the murderer who killed the King! Get him!"

Men - attendants, soldiers, guards, anyone who was armed - rushed at Askeladd. And, just like their fallen King, they died swiftly. None died cleanly like Sweyn, falling not from a clean decapitation but a split head or bleeding out from useless stumps. Soon almost a dozen people were piled around Askeladd, then a dozen, then more. "Hah, hah, hah," he spat. "What's the matter?! Whoever wants to die next, come forth! The King of Britain will personally cut your head off! Hah, hah."

"Do not falter, cut him down!! Surround him! Once the reinforcements arrive, close off all exits! Don't let him out of here alive!" Despite the chaos of the situation, Cnut managed to present himself as a force of calm. "Take the King's body inside! Cover him up and don't let anyone else see his body!"

"What's wrong? Is this all the Danes have to offer? Is there no one left or are you all spineless cowards?!"

"Askeladd!" Floki, Sweyn's failed bodyguard, rushed forward. His further words were lost between their clash of blades, but the victor was soon apparent. In seconds, Floki was being driven to his knees. "Let me give you the honor of kissing my feet! And then you can die!"

"Askeladd!" Another newcomer from the crowd, this time a youth stomping across the front's heads to better reach the front. The shout drew his attention aside, and Canute - having at some point moved forward during Floki's clash - dove forward with his blade. Amazingly, impossibly, the attack was true. Everyone's eyes locked on the one man who had managed to put a stop to Askeladd's rampage.

"Is this the first time you ever stabbed a man, Prince Canute?" His hands gripped the sword, freeing it from his breast. Blood refused to stop flowing from his mouth. "...Well done."

    And then he fell.

Shock moved through the crowd, quickly replaced by wonder, and settling on enthusiastic cheers as Sweyn's death was avenged by his son. One person pushed their way through the crowd, the youth from before, and dragged the fallen madman up by his shirt to begin yelling at him. This was not how their fight was supposed to end, he was supposed to be the one to kill Askeladd! What words Askeladd could manage before the darkness took him were lost to all but the youth, who stood over him as each breath grew shorter and shorter.

"Thorfinn," began Canute. "He deserved it. This is what he deserved for acting like a madman and brutally murdering the King." Thorfinn remained silent, barely acknowledging him. "... But, since things turned out like this, you do not need to serve under me any longer. You may go wherever you wish." Slowly, Thorfinn turned, stumbling toward Canute. Thorkell realized what was about to happen a second before anyone else, lunging forward just soon enough to prevent Canute from being killed by one of Thorfinn's knives.

Chaos returned to the room, everyone rushing at Thorfinn as Canute and Floki shouted orders. So focused were the occupants on the second, failed assassin, that none noticed when a faint symbol appeared on the floor around Askeladd. A faint thrum, easily lost over the din of new cries of alarm, was the only other sign of something amiss before Askeladd's body began to sink into the floor. Almost fitting, really, that the last descendant of Arturius fade would too vanish without a trace.

Well, something had happened with Louise's summoning. A loud BOOM! preceded thick clouds of smoke that masked the space ahead of Louise. In the very least, she had lived up to the explosive part of her reputation. But was she successful?

Slowly, the smoke cleared, and a vague shape could be seen flat on the ground. That meant... a something! She had done it! She had managed to summon something through the ritual! Louise Francoise Le Blanc De La Valliere had proven that she was not-

Someone in the crowd screamed, drawing Louise's attention back to the present. The smoke had cleared by now, and she - along with the rest of the class - had a clear view of what was summoned. A person. No, a commoner. A dead commoner. Louise's spirit sunk like a rock. Leave it to her, the Zero, to find a fail at one of the most basic spells, and call forward a dead body. She almost wished that the body was her own, knowing just how fast what had happened would spread through the school.

"Back, everyone, back!" shouted Colbert, rapidly approaching the body. Louise didn't need any further encouraging to back up, stepping back and keeping her eyes planted on her feet as she did the best to ignore the whispers running through the crowd. Already they were talking about her summoning. If it weren't for Colbert trying to force some sense of calm, she had no doubt that it wouldn't be whispers being traded amongst her classmates. Tears quickly began welling at the corners of her eyes as her mind raced on.

This sort of thing just does not happen. Colbert thought. Sure, once or twice a familiar didn't survive the summoning, but it was always something small like a mouse or a bird that died of fright. Not a person, not this... bloody mess. The first thing he looked for was a clean spot to check for a pulse. It was more difficult than he would have hoped, having to make due with one of the hands. He sat crouched for nearly a minute, about to call the man dead and address the class when he felt something. Evidently someone in the crowd caught the twitch on his face. "Colbert! Is he alive?"

"Shh!" Did he feel something? Was he imagining it? It felt like... yes! Again! It was faint, almost non-existent, but it was definitely there. The man was alive! The human familiar was still alive! "Tabitha," Colbert called, the student hesitantly stepping forward. "I need you to fly back with your familiar and bring back Osmond, quickly! This man is still alive!"

"Understood," she responded, little more than 'un-' audible before the rest of the class stopped pretending to be quiet. Two blue shapes quickly took off in the sky as Colbert did his best to restore some sense of order.

Given that noble power is already justified by special powers which they believe are explicitly divine in origin, and that they basically view commoners as a separate species.

To the Teragen, Helkeginia is doing it right.

Possibly. But the people obey laws and regulations and custom because they were told to. There is no freedom, there in no personal responsibility.

That, to me, is a big part of the Null Manifesto. You are now a potential God. However, your actions are yours alone.
This means things like, butchering a bunch of commoners, while it can be made 'legal', can still be seen as morally wrong. Law and custom are the noose around your neck. Snap the noose, Do what you will and your Will be the whole of the law. However, if people come for you for revenge, that is their law.

Now, imagine how Louise responds to that. someone capable of standing up to her Mother telling her to cast off her shackles and chains. Be Free.

Because he isn't Kreia. He won't decide to try to find a way to use the Heart of God to kill God, nor will he give Louise twisted lessons on how there's no such thing as altruism, because helping people always rewards you with more XP, and he won't like her more when she thinks for herself, and challenges everything he says.

Quite unlike Kreia. Who is probably my favourite videogame character ever.
  19. Pharohman777 Planeswalker

    Kreia...
Man I remember how she was.
So nihilistic, but the end of game insights into what will happen with the other characters were fun.
honestly, I preferred HK-47, especially when he was talking about Revan and his relations with one of the other characters. The way he faked/mocked their declarations of love was just hilarious, really.
  20. Redrangerpower Back to Action

I noticed that Courage the Cowardly Dog has a snippet and that's great. Its easily one of my favorite cartoons. Sadly, it wasn't for my favorite character, so I thought I'd toss the idea out here.

Louise summons a rather unremarkable young man -very thin, with wild blond hair, and green eyes- whose smile is so oddly ever-present that its starting to really weird out everybody. And then one morning Kirche storms up to Louise, her head completly bald, and rants about keeping her insane familiar in check.

His name is Fred, he is best described as freaky, and his respone to this? Why, he simply felt a little....naaaaaughty.

Here's the full episode for context.

Um, first attempt :) I don't really write so excuse the crap grammer, been reading this since the first page and have enjoyed so many cool idea that I thought I could at least place down a scribble:

The being standing in the summoning circle was a strange and disturbing amalgamation of blood red flesh and ceramic like chitin, it was androgynous with no distinguishable feature to mark its sex, and yet it was distinctly and indescribably feminine.

    She.

She was majestic in appearance, regal in bearing and possessed an unearthly beauty that at once attract and repel with its alieness.

Louise licked her lips as the strange creature turned her head, the bottom half of said head was shaped like a normal person but made of a red flesh that look like it was skinless muscle; the top half was pale white chitin, absurdly large and arrow shaped.

    She had no eyes.

‘But she can see’ Louise screamed in her mind as the creature focus on her with a chilling intensity.

    And then she spoke.

“You have summoned me without contract planeswalker, do you wish to bargain?”

The creature’s voice had an odd echo that hurt her ears, and while Louise understood what she said, she had no idea of a response, -this wasn’t suppose to happen! The familiar wasn’t meant to talk for founder’s sake!-.

Glancing at her teacher with pleading eyes, she found the equally befuddled face of Professor Colbert starring back at her.

“What am I meant to say Professor?” She asked frantically.

The Professor provided her with a helpless shrug and a shake of his head. For all his past experience, no familiar had ever talked to him either.

“Finish the ritual Ms Vallière, although asking the creature’s name might help”.

Great, thanks an awful lot Professor useless.

    Ouch.

Stepping forward timidly, Louise approached the creature with no small amount of trepidation. She could not rationalize this extreme sense of unease about her, the creature was obviously intelligent and had made no threatening gesture or move whatsoever, and yet she can feel herself becoming more and more stifled the closer she got.

“Um, m-my name is L-Louis.” She started, cutting her name short due to her stutter. “M-may I ask for your n-name?”

The creature hissed, staring down at her (no eyes! no eyes dammit!) and somehow manage to convey surprise through her unmoving chitin. “Have you summoned one such as I without preordaining? You jest. No planeswalker would be foolish enough to randomly summon an unbound Praetor.”

“Um um um…” She stuttered in panic, oh what, oh what can she say to that? “W-we never name our summons before the ritual! I was only meant- I was only meant to summon a familiar and I don’t know what you mean by p-planeswalker or praetor or your name or anything.”

Oh how humiliating it was, to admit to her peers and worst to this summon that she was a complete failure. Louise the Zero indeed! Even this last and final attempt to redeem herself had ended in public humiliation – yes everyone, Louise the Zero simply couldn’t cast any spell right, and this majestic and terrifying creature was clearly not her familiar!

“Familiar? You had set out to cast a spell to bind a familiar?”
The creature asked incredulously. “How by the Father of Machines did you manage to touch my essence when you are attempting to summon a paltry familiar planeswalker?”

Oh this was soooo humiliating, and for some reason, she could not stay silent, could not even lie, something was compelling her to speak to this creature and tell her the truth of everything.

“I-I don’t know.” She whispered. “E-every spell I cast always fails, I was only meant to summon a familiar, and then-and then you appear! Everything is all wrong” She paused and looked around, surprise that her classmate had not started jeering or insulting her like they usually did.

They were all staring, even Professor Colbert; like a herd of frightened deer caught in the blinding light of a flare spell.

An awkward pause whilst the creature continues to dissect her with her not-eye.

    Louise fidgeted.

“Come closer planeswalker.” The creature beckoned, her hand outstretched, a bony index finger with a wickedly sharp talon extended. “Let me touch you.”

She complied, stepping forward almost against her will. Her instinct was screaming: Run! Run! Run little Louise! Run while you still can!

She took another step and the talon touched her forehead.

And just like that, all the fear was gone, all the doubt, all the worry, all the unease and dread, evaporating into nothing.

    New emotions replaced them.

She was on top of the word! She was strong! She was powerful! She felt like she could do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!

    Oh how wonderful!

    Oh how WONDERFUL!

“So young…” Whispered the creature. “And yet, the spark burns so brightly in you, perhaps in time you could even grow strong enough to awaken the Father of Machine from his eternal slumber.”

She did not respond –indeed- she had no answer.

The creature did not expect an answer.

    Louise knew that too.

And then, the talon was dropped and the source of the euphoria was abruptly cut.

Louise let out a little whimper, looking up at the creature pleadingly.

The creature smiled (great founder such a sight!). “In time young planeswalker, first let us bargain, let us speak of partnership, alliance and of the glorious future.”

    A pause.

“And perhaps if there is time, I will share with you the glory of Phyrexia and the Machine Orthodoxy.”

She could still feel it, taste it, the sense of impending victory, such a glorious and never ending anthem! This creature, this Praetor will show her the path.

But first: “You still need to give me your name.”

The creature laughed, a dry, blood curdling sound to all other observers.

To Louise it was the most beautiful thing in the world.

“I am Elesh Norn, Grant Cenobite.”

“And I am Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière.”

“Well met planeswalker! Let us bargain for Phyrexia’s magnificence.”

    “Please show me the way.”

Like i said I am taking a lot of liberty.

I'm actually imagining Louise to be in a position of a 'player' rather than a canon plainswalker like person.

Elesh Norn knows that she is been summon by someone that either holds her contract (cards) or wish to bargain for a contract, she came expecting to deal with a seasoned 'player' and instead found Louise.

I am imagining the ability of the card +2/+2 as a super aura for allies while -2/-2 as some kind of dread aura.

Summoning canon Elesh Norn would be a fast-track bloodbath - she at least needs to THINK she understand what is happening.
  25. Lifelink Breaking a dragon's heart? That's a paddling.

Mibuo, that's a bad end waiting to happen because if she's there then other Praetors are there and are now capable of causing Halkeginia to rage quit. Now that I think on it Elesh
should have gone to the pope while Louise got Sheoldred since black mana could be seen as the void.

EDIT: If the other Praetors don't come then the Machine Orthodoxy who are fanatically subservient to her will find a way to reach her and that opens up a new plane for them to conquer.
