What's even good about besides shoehorning Shirou into Ichika's life? (Which is garbage in itself?)

I've never understood this thing about shoehorning protagonists into another protagonist's life. Wouldn't various protagonists have a different effect on how things go compared to canon?

Depends on the genre. In harem series, f'rinstance, the only way they could have much effect is if they did something other than act as a ball for the sexy women to try and obtain and toss around in the process.

And I think the author forgot that Ichika still exists. I stopped taking the story seriously when the author made Shirou use non-IS weaponry as standard arsenal for his IS. Really? Using wooden shafts and ornate weaponry yet doesn't get addressed?

I just liked Infinite Stratos because of the shiny armor. The CGI was terrific, and even though the plot sucked, I couldn't help but be lured in by the special effects.

I preferred the guy getting Charlotte rather than Houki.
But this thread is about Fate so don't respond.

That's a pretty big peeve of mine with Japanese literature (and manga and anime and ect). The author creates a potentially interesting setting and slaps on a lousy harem story on top to get sales from the otaku crowd. Or the other way around, the author creates a gimmick to spice up another lousy harem story because harem stories sell well.

The end result is usually the same: another recycled, gimmicky harem story where the only interesting thing is the gimmick.

Edit: It sometimes works fine, Nasu got recognition because he first sold his VN's as hentai games, but such situations are exceptions from the rule.

At least sometimes the women look different.

The only reason I'm voting for the recs is because I actually liked The Loli Grail War and am sad to see all the hate it's getting.

I hate it because its LEVEL of NSF goes beyond just 'Sex and stuff' into absolutely beyond disgusting levels. And I can't enjoy anything associated with that level of nasty.
