Because said stories, while badly written and full of plot holes, were technically within the rules. That, and it'd be like fighting a Hydra.
So you are complaining about the standards of content that don't break the rules as a reason that there rulrs aren't working? And the naked Hitler certainly is breaking said rules.
You know how author avatars are displayed right beside the story right? One of the authors in the Harry/Hermione section has that for his Avatar which is right beside his K-rated story.

Has anyone checked out FF.net? Apprently a bunch of authors are doing a "Blackout". Got this from one of the stories: First time I heard of them of purging the site of any M-rated fics.
Sounds like another one of those useless stunts that feel good, but don't accomplish anything. Some of them deserve to be purged. I'm not saying this out of literary criticism, more of unmistakably containing inappropriate content. The line may be not be the best defined, but I've seen fics whose crossing said line no one would deny.
Already knew that much. I'm not arguing that some need to go and I already knew that they were doing so. But the way some are talking, it almost sounds like when they purged the site of NC-17 stories if you listen to some. A few are muttering that any M Rated fic is going to get deleted. That's why I'm asking if anyone else heard about this?
Well, they are off on M rated fics being removed. Only ones that should be MA only, actually. But I'm sure they'll claim hysteria for some more attention.
I just found this on an AN of a story i have on alert: not sure if it's true or not so i'm posting this here and looking into this claim.
'They hope' means they really aren't behind it. According to what I've researched, the admins on FF.net just happened to have a bot that has been a little more effective than normal to check things like titles for swear terms and other people noticed some MA stories getting the boot at the same time.
Not sure, especially with FF.net requiring a chapta with each 'report' you submit. Bots to submit a takedown would have to be much more manual.
Posted in their complaints/give thanks thread requesting a response to the accusation. but from what i can find they might not be responsible and the accusation was made by a guy wanting a scapegoat..

Which have been against site rules since 2002. You're right. It sounds exactly like what they said when they purged NC-17 stories. Because they're purging the same stories. Just because Fanfiction authors go "IT'S RATED 'T' IT CAN'T BE NC-17" doesn't actually mean the story itself isn't NC17. That said, Yaoi means graphic male/male sex, which is MA/AO, which will be removed. Yuri means graphic female/female sex which is MA/AO, which will be removed. Song based stories are against site policy and will be removed. Extreme Graphic Violence is MA/AO, and will be removed. So, I guess they're right, but only because they're incredibly stupid. The vast majority of 'm' stories contain none of those things and will not be touched. edit 2: Fuck it. You know what, these people are totally right. Also you have to post this as your status or Facebook will delete your account because of the new privacy controls. Also you should post your own TOU as a status or they'll sell your information to identity thieves.
