If I ever DO try to write it, though, I'd probably crack under the pressure of trying to weigh the reciprocal consistency of the story against the genuine Archie Sonic synopsis. That shit gets nucking futs at some points, and even I can't keep it all straight in my head.

For starters, Yggdrasil alone causes so many problems, as now the entirety of the Echidnas' role in the story has to be covered by the Apple clan. And Rainbow is taking Sonic's place, while Twilight is Sally. Can you say awkward?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Sonic the Hedgehog fanon is a delicate matter. You either make sure you've got your stories straight, or you don't even bother.

Honestly, this is just coming from me wishing that Archie would wise up and get the rights to do a FiM comic series. Oh, the things they could do with such creative license...hehuhuehuehuehueheh

Part of what makes Archie Sonic so amazing is that pretty much everything is still canon. Yes, even the time Tails wore a bedsheet and saved the multiverse. Yes, even the time Kuckles turned Green and became unto a god. Yes, even the time Sonic dressed like a ninja and called himself "The Sneak." There's also that stretch of time where there was nothing but harem shenanigans and high school drama because the writer had no idea how to work the plot of Adventure into the comic. All of that is still acknowledged as happening. That isn't to say that things in an Archie Pony comic could get as crazy as the whole Eggman/Robo-Robotnik bullshit, but c'mon, can you honestly say that you WOULDN'T want some major diversions from canon?

Ponyville sat many,many,many miles behind her as she gazed over the lonely landscape. It was pitted and scared from where the Diamond Dogs had tunneld for gems. A small frown marred her features but she quickly let it go as she trudged onwards. 'I hate to say it but ...I need to get some training in.'

Discord, Diamond Dogs, the Changelings even the dragons they had seen pointed to one undenyable fact. No matter how she tried putting that past life behind her it seemed their would be those that would rise to challenge her. Rise to threaten her friends and her loved ones. Threaten everything she held dear.

'I will not stand for this. No more. No more! I love my shop and my friends .....so I must do this in private.'

The purple maned mare looked at a distant outcropping of rock and smirked as the ancient words came to her easily, effortlessly. Who knew his power could extend even to here .

"Darkness beyond twillight..."

In Ponyville Twillight Sparkle froze then turned to the south west. She felt the spike of magic grow then suddenly dissipate. 'Hmmm what was that? Felt like a spell but none I know of. I wonder if the Princessess felt it...'

"Spike, I need you to send a letter to Celestia..."

Well, it DID say "Rarity" in the original idea.

But I'm wondering what Lina's reaction was to her new form's purple hair... just like Xellos.

Of course, I'm also thinking someone's going to pull a "That's... A secret!" on us readers, but that's neither here nor there...

Actually, when I first saw the idea (not the snip) I assumed it was Naga becoming Rarity, not Lina. And yeah, being reminded of Naga would be infinetly worse than the trickster priest.

... wait I thought it was rarity was retired and learned a spell set like linas not that rarity was lina ponified.

Or ....Rarity is Lina's reincarnation and she somehow gained the memories of her past life......

So, to bring back an old idea. Twilight's been keeping a secret not only from her friends, but also her family and Celestia herself. No, no. She is a pony and no, she is not pregnant. See, they all know she has one hell of a voice. Thing is, Twilight while she was Celestia's student did have a social life of sorts. Just out of view and in the, shall we say, Canterlot Underground. He had a career and made quite a bit of money disguising herself so that she could have a musical career. What type of music you ask? Metal.

She was known as "Midnight Star" and was an extremely popular musician. But, she retired from the eyes of her fans when she came to Ponyville. However, Luna (who's become a huge fan) using various connections has tracked down a rumor placing Midnight Star in Ponyville. So she comes to the town to find her, not knowing it's Twilight. Ironically, Fluttershy is also a fan and helps her. Others also show up.

And now Twilight has to deal with her friends possibly finding out about her secret...

Honestly I'm less concerned for what kind of metal she plays than the fact that her cape is about to be set on fire.

Somehow I get this feeling the retirement was more forced than she planned it to be.

They aren't Twilight. If you're a student of Trollestia, you pick up on a few things. Like fireproofing everything.

It has been fifty years since the Vaygr War. The Crusades are fraught with infighting and strife, all sense of unity lost after Warlord Red Wing's defeat. Outside the reaches, the galaxy has entered a Golden Age, with the opening of the Eye of Arran, and the reactivation of the Great Network of Hyperspace Gates, and there is much trade and prosperity amongst the all peoples. The Age of S'jet has begun.

Or so it would seem, but some relics of the past do not enjoy being forgotten.

Had Rainbow Dash been Hiigaran, she would've been little more than meaty pulp right about now, so great were the G-forces acting on her as she wove her Dagger-class Assault Craft through a blistering hail of fire. But, thankfully, she wasn't Hiigaran. She was Vaygr, and so made of much sterner stuff. She made her little craft swerve and twist, cutting off the engines and spinning the nimble space fighter into pointing in a completely new direction, before pushing the throttle to its limit to abruptly change her heading, zigzagging throught the void in an attempt to confuse her persuers.

Unfortulately, her perusers were also Vaygr, and they kept right on her tail.

Rainbow Dash was, to put it bluntly, doomed. Her foes were simply too many; even if she went on the offensive, she would only be able to kill a hoofull before they killed her. And it would only be a matter of time before she slipped.

That didn't stop her from trying.

She spotted an opportunity: one of her perusers, perhaps out of excessive zeal, or perhaps out of carelessness, had accelerated too much and had broken off from the swarm. A twitch of her wings, and a squeeze of the firing bit, and a stream of flechettes burst from the rotary cannon mounted on her prow, hurtlleing across the void. The stream of DU proyectiles hit the opposing Assault Craft, puncturing its hull, and rupturing fuel feeds. The damaged craft staggered and floundered, but it managed to hold itself in one piece.

A second burst would've fixed that mistake, but Dash quickly found herself trying to evade similar attacks, and had to focus on keeping herself alive.

Several thin, pointed rods of hard metal found their mark on her craft. It was a testament to her skill that more didn't.

She and her squadron had been hyperspaced into this corner of the Reaches to scout ahead. The force had been paltry, only a few squadrons of Assault Craft escorting some scouts, in a mostly uncrewed Carrier.

They had found valuable Intel. A rival Crusade, Il-Tarran, had a digsite within an asteroid, and they had found something. Reinforcements were on their way to claim the site as theirs.

However, that information had come at a price. Their carrier had been discovered, and her brothers and sisters in arms were gone, dead or dying. Only she remained, playing a deadly game. If she manuvered to evade the enemy Assault Craft, she ran the risk of the persuing Hammer-class Missile Corvettes catching up and anhilating her with concussion missiles. If she accelerated to outrun the corvettes, the Assault Craft would tear her to shreds.

She ground her teeth together as she opened the throttle to accelerate away from the approaching corvettes, before having to throw her craft every which way to avoid being killed, letting loose a stream of curses in Vaygres.

Such was life in the Reaches.

The idea seems a bit tricky to write.

As the quest goes on, the Mane6 may require at least a carrier, (to support fighters and perform repairs) with at least a FTL Jump module and maybe a research module. So, in addition to cultural conflicts, we have to juggle the differences of rank (all military) or views (civilians and military mix).

Not to mention the rest of the crew...

So, potential roles?

Rainbow Dash: Vaygr fighter pilot
Twilight Sparkle: Bentusi Researcher
Fluttershy: Kadeshi Medic/Priestess?
Rarity: Taiidani Republican Merchant?
Pinkie Pie: Turanic raider carrier captain?
Applejack: Somtaw Engineer/Miner?

Edit: Using a pirate carrier seems apt, considering the rag-tag nature of the group.
