Godzilla 2014 vs Gipsy Danger 2.0 (Predictions)

  1. (Irrelevant for 2.0) Gipsy Danger survived hypersonic reentry, I wouldn't be surprised someone calculated that to be something special.

    " When a meteoroid enters the upper atmosphere of Earth, it is travelling at a very high speed; in the neighborhood of 30,000 MPH. As it enters the atmosphere the air in front of it is compressed. When a gas is compressed, its temperature rises. This very hot air then heats the leading edge of the meteoroid as high as 3,000 degrees F (1,650 degrees C).

    Then enough heat is generated that the meteoroid catches melts and eventually vaporizes or shatters because of shock effects. Most meteoroids that enter burn up completely, a small percentage make it to the ground and an even smaller percentage actually cause catastrophic disasters"


    Basically, objects burn up in the atmosphere because their moving at hypersonic speeds and when Gipsy lands we clearly saw her catching on fire.

    Point still stands, a 7'2, 1,000 Lbs man was able to enter a planet's atmosphere at terminal velocity and get up just fine after that, so Gypsy Danger doing that is not really that impressive.

    It really depends on what completely ridiculous implications you're willing to accept. Plasma rifles stopped dead by pillows, or megachief laughing at your puny bullets.

    Well, repeated. IIRC, their armor can be penetrated by modern firearms, the problem is landing enough to drop the shields and drop the person in the armor before biofoam and what-not can be used to prevent him from immediately dropping and allowing him to escape.

  13. Well, we have nothing about 'Gipsy 2.0' except whatever we can pull out of our ass. Hence, I say Gipsy will be two feet tall and designed for serving coffee, so Godzilla will annihilate her with a vast eighty-gigaton nuclear fart.

    You can weigh pretty heavy and still be buoyant on water so long as you can evenly distribute your mass over the water.

    Erm... if we assume Godzilla and Gipsy's lifting strength are on par with humans that can life 1.5 times their body weight...

    Final Wars Godzilla weighs 55,000 tons. Assuming it can lift 1.5 times its own body weight, Godzilla has a lifting strength of 82,500 tons at the minimum.

    Gipsy Danger weighs roughly 2000 or so tons. That puts her lifting strength at only 3000 tons at the minimum. Of course we have feats of her grabbing what appears to be an oil tanker or cargo ship, which puts her lifting strength at around 10,000ish tons which is reasonable since Gipsy's internal structure is not as flimsy as a human's and can thus support much more weight. Despite this however Gipsy is still 70,000 tons short of Godzilla. These calculations which

    Now let's go into movement speed, because this also tells us how much muscle each combatant is packing.

    Most of the Jaegers and Kaiju in PR move in a slow, lumbering manner. This of course makes sense realistically since they are fuck huge and pretty damn heavy, on top of the fact that it achieves a cinematic effect that tells the audience "I'm a huge titan of asswhooping". Even Striker Eureka, who is the fastest Jaeger around, still moves in a slow motion and lumbering manner albeit her movements are more akin to a mobile suit from OYW than the other Jaegers which is a huge increase in movement speed.

    Now let's move onto Godzilla. Godzilla doesn't move like the Jaegers do. No, he/she/it moves as quickly and as easily as a human would which implies some ridiculous application of the square cube law. That in itself implies an incredibly high amount of muscle mass and strength needed to move like that. This becomes even more ludicrous once you move into Final Wars, where Godzilla is full-on sprinting and trading strikes with Monster X like a Manga battle.

    So yeah... unless Gipsy goes through some incredibly hax upgrades, she's getting one-shotted by the King of Monsters. Of course, this is assuming that Godzilla gets cocky and fights her in hand-to-hand instead of just blowing her face off with atomic breath spam.

    Gipsy was dropped from the upper atmosphere correct? That means that Gipsy can only reach the terminal velocity of roughly 120 miles per hour since she is free-falling at this point. The speed of sound is roughly 600 miles per hour on Earth. Gipsy is burning because it is fuckhuge and is creating a huge amount of drag falling to an earth that is rotating at about 1000 miles per hour.

    In seriousness, yes, theres plenty of middle ground to cover. There's high ground, low ground, middle ground, lopsided ground, it all depends on what you're after.
    If chief's shields are in single digit Kilojoules (which there is evidence for) then plasma bolts are so weak as to be useless, assuming it takes more than a single bolt to down his shields. If Chief's shields are in the double digit Kilojoules (which there is evidence for), Then plasma bolts are just extremely anemic. If Chief's shields are in the triple digit Kilojoules (which there is evidence for), Then plasma bolts can melt through armor, kill people very easily, blow off limbs, etc, but now -bullets- have ceased to be as useful. The problem with a plasma bolt is that it does its damage by -burning- an area the size of a fist or even a softball, AND it's especially effective against shields because of the magnetic containment. This means that if your Plasma Bolt is using a level of energy even remotely similar to normal bullets, you're going to be getting nowhere fast.

    Basically, if you think Chief's shields are as strong as say... the DMR makes them appear, then pick up the nearest book and congratulate yourself on getting your new plasma-bolt-proof armor.

    Nonsense. I just point out that they exist, and are legitimate, as counterbalance.

    There's also the fact that they used a purging of the reactor in order to generate thrust to slow their descent. Also, unless the Redbull skydiver was some kind of superhuman, then falling from 140,000 feet (about the height that Gipsy Danger was at) won't generate any heat.
     
  19. The square/cube law indicates that GD should be falling faster than a human: more weight per area in contact with the atmosphere. You need more drag to reach terminal velocity.
    I can't be arsed to look for the equation, but the implication was that the bigger the object (density remains equal), the faster terminal velocity it achieves.
