Just started a mega project to build a fantasy style castle...a real huge one. The walls are forty high and six blocks thick! Only got half a wall built so far...each of the four outer walls will be over 300 blocks long... Tower at each corner and a massive inner keep. I will then populate it with villagers when its done. Equalent exchange mod make this easier, but i still wouldnt call it easy...
See, if you had Redpower installed, you could make a frame-based construction machine, stick a computer on and write a program that will build the walls for you. Then you just press "start" and then do other things while it goes forth and builds in your name.
Not on its own. Redpower doesn't have any way to automatically craft items and Buildcraft pipes can't be transported on Frames. You'll need to use an addon like Immibis' TubeStuff (which adds Redpower-compatible autocrafting tables).
I don't think that you need logistics pipes to actually place BC pipes. You could indeed use a central logistics centre, but I wouldn't consider that to be a proper Von Neumann replicator since it's reliant on an external source.
I'm not sure you'd actually need a central source - you could have it build more crafting centers. Actually, it probably couldn't program the auto crafting tables or computers so nevermind.
I had a friend turn my favorite single-player map into an MP server. It ate my inventory-which had some quite valuable enchanted tools in it-and 36 levels. How do I get it back, or are they gone?
I've built a castle similar to that Hiver, albeit that was almost two years ago back when there was the triple-click item duplication glitch. It was a 90x90 castle that stood about eight blocks tall (9 / 9.5 along the outsides), had 12 tall towers (13 / 13.5 on the edges), was... I want to say six thick (exterior and four walking space inside), and was completely lit inside and out. They're rather fun to make, but I'd really advise planning out its interior ahead of time / not making a castle-castle but more "stone-walled village". EDIT: Here we go, a view from one of the towers.
I am building a warehouse that will hold a minimum of one double chest of every legitly aquireable item, it will have redpower system that keeps track of how many of each item it has. The only mod I will be using is redpower and the entire 75x75x145 block structure will be coated in obsidian then two layers of lava plus a redpower pumping system that will ensure that any who try to breach my walls get a face full of high pressure lava.
Legitimate? Good luck. Even with Diamond Picks enchanted for efficiency, coating it in Obsidian means you're looking at literal days of mining Obsidian alone.
nope I am using only the redpower mod, which in its most recent version added pumps and liquid pipes. Simply pump the lava out of the lake and under a block of water and it turn to obsidian! Then blockbreaker and a chest. The most annoying thing is the constant runs to the surface to refill the batteries for the pump. I allready have over 10000 obsidian using this method over about two days.
I don't play much single player, because I made the mistake of getting used to MCMMO. Right now I've got a pretty little bunker in a Raiding/PVP server next to the junction of two chasms. I could use some help getting obsidian to set up a proper hideaway.
What server? Are you on GL Desert? I'm in a town where nobody's ever online at the same time as me (and the owner has permissions locked down to full on retarded levels - I can't even open the door to our grinder), and the SB town thread seems dead.
Join the modded SB server. We've got a metro system and a fallout shelter (still under construction)!
I did for a while [but you were having server problems], then the mods stopped working for me and I got too caught up in GLD to spend time fixing it. Maybe I'll try it again this weekend.
Cool. Let me or Sayle know if you have any problems and we'll see what we can do about getting you up and running.
An update on my project: At over 2 chests of obsidian and around 16 of cobble and cobble derived products (smooth stone, stone brick, etc) Here is a picture... Dam just realized that this is a pic of my machine having a graphics glitch, it still works it just turns invisible for a few minutes.
Heh, reminds me of a few servers back when I tried to level a continent. I dug it all out by hand, removed maybe that much material, then realized "Like hell this is getting done any time soon".
I would be mining faster, but my miner design is sub par. The engine runs out of power if I run it to fast cause of my battery setup, and each time it reaches the end of a row I have to manualy rotate the engine and lower the drill head.
