I have to wonder exactly what the Earth King's bear implies about the ecosystem of this world. I know he was put in basically as a joke, but he's still canon.
That Mother Nature was Drunk and High when she made the animals...and sobered up at the last minute, enough to make that one normal bear... before she passed out...
The nick website just unlocked some new areas http://www.nick.com/games/legend-of-korra-welcome-to-republic-city.html
Apparently Zuko is still alive having abdicated in favor of his daughter and is now a fire nation ambassador
And scroll down to the bottom of the Satomobile article.
I realize this was made in the previous thread, but: Toph. As in, the twelve year old character. I'm going be generous and give you one sentence to explain before this shotgun I'm holding goes off while it's pointed at your head.
What I want to know is, if the title "Fire Lady" is that of the Fire Lord's spouse, does that mean Zuko's daughter is the Fire Lord? Put down the pitchfork and torch son, it's past time for the pedophilia witchhunts to end. Toph, as a character, is made interesting by her strength of will and force of personality, as well as her strength as a martial artist.
Cabbage Corp... making Cabbage Cars? What, do they have like a trademark on cabbages or something XP ? Now I want to see an in-universe biography of the Cabbage Merchant as the greatest entrepreneur of his time.
Given that they make even cheaper cars then the in universe Henry Ford, I would imagine that Cabbagemobiles have the same reputation as a Lada. I would imagine that they might play off the reliant robin gag from Mr. Bean
I liked, the Future Industries section, the acknowledgement of steam power being inefficient and impractical for small-scale uses like in cars. The show's aesthetics might be steampunk, but the beating heart of its cutting-edge science is the gasoline-fueled internal combustion engine.
Frankly I'd have preferred something a little less conventional. Maybe methane gas squeezed out of the earth by earthbenders; or hell, propane.
Satomobiles might be made by Fordist technique, but they also come in Sport and Luxury models. There is space below them in the heirarchy of automobiles.
Presumably. After all, Azula was going to be crowned "Fire Lord Azula" before Zuko and Katara showed up to interupt things, so the title clearly remains the same, even if the Fire Nation's reigning monarch is female.
Because her husband was Prince Ozai when she was hanging around the palace and Not Exiled for Killing Azulon.
Sounds like in addition to the Triple Threat Triad, there are element-specific gangs. The Agni Kais for one. And lightningbending seems a common enough skill that the power plant doesn't need to pay a terrible lot for it. Also, pro-bending confirmed for criminal corruption like ye old boxing matches.
Is it just me or does the lightning seem a bit weak compared to the stuff being thrown around in the first series?
Something that occurred to me is that Korra, being the Avatar, might be immune, or at least resistant, to energybending. What with the Avatar being the human incarnation of the Spirit of the Planet and all. Edit: Then again, it might not be energybending. It was pointed out on another forum that when Aang removed Ozai's ability to firebend, there was a lot of glowing involved. I can only reply that the glowing may have been due to Aang being in the Avatar State. Or maybe strictly for the benefit of the audience. I dunno.
Also, was anyone else getting a Batman vibe when Mako said his and Bolin's parents were killed by a mugger when he was eight?
OK, sorry, I just finished watching the first 2 episodes on iTunes, and I need to ask: In that first Pro-Bending Match, didn't Mako fucking cheat jumping zones like that? :wtf:
Not really. Azula threw about the same amount of lightning as that one guy did. Ozai threw the big bolts, but then, he's the Fire Lord and the final villain. I suspect we'll see bigger bolts later on (hoping for Mako to throw the big ones!) as the series heats up. And boy, is it heating up! I'm going to assume it is
energybending
. After all, the Big Bad has to be a serious threat to the Avatar. It tells me that the world is definitely spinning out of balance between benders and non-benders, and the fuse is about to be lit for a major civil war. Perhaps the spirit world itself is out of balance, affecting the world of mortals. Wouldn't be the first series to have that issue. Korra's gonna have her work cut out for her, that's for sure. And now that you mention it, didn't the
bad guy expose similar origins?
Granted, he's probably not telling the whole truth, but I suspect there'll be references to Batman (and Robin) from now on. And we may even look into the differences in the way the two characters dealt with their loss: Mako by throwing his energies into Pro Bending and
Amon by channeling it into his rage and motives to destory all benders.
So, where can I watch the third episode online? I don't see it on the korranation page. When will they update that?
