Legend of Korra thread 2: Would you do it for a Bosco Snack?

  1. Imperator Pax Talon Master

I'm really fucking pissed off that I wasted the hour watching the last two episodes.
  2. ShadowPhoenix Dark Lord of Shadows

    ah!
    well, that explains everything.
I enjoyed the whoopass she delivered upon Amon....and the whole plane things had me completely mystified.
  3. mutantmagnet "I am the future!"

For those who think Sato pulled those planes out of nowhere NOTzuko said we can't compete with these faster flyers.

Earlier versions (probably in the vein of World War I planes) did exist before hand and the naval force wasn't trained to deal with planes that could move so fast. I would love to see the average bending soldier's face when jet propulsion is invented. (Wait. Spacebattles removed the Dr Evil smiley?!)
  4. foamy Prodigal

    Firebenders are literally rocket-propelled.
  5. Karazor The Monkey Underground

There's also the fact that no one's found whatever taught Amon how to use his bloodbending to take away others' bending abilities. Just throwing that out there.

Incidentally, I don't know if it's been mentioned, but WRT the emotional impact of losing one's bending. I've seen it compared to losing a limb, but I wonder if Flowers for Algernon isn't a better parallel.
  6. Compared to your normal day of fighting with people like me on SB pax your hour was spent rather wisely.
  7. Onimech Snazzy Custom Title Here

I am kind of wondering why we never really see much of the spirit world or its inhabitants much at all. It was established very early on and some history is hinted at in a couple random episodes but very rarely is a spirit seen or mentioned much overall. It seems strange to create this resource and then never use it in episodes later on.

  9. Actually, unlike TLA which was relatively slow paced with some episodes dedicated to character development and world description , Korra is very fast paced with relatively little time for both, instead focusing on main, very complex plot .
  10. foamy Prodigal

    He's talking about ATLA.
  11. Oh, my bad then.

  12. Well normally in world building in stories like this the further back you go the more mythological it gets. With the Gods or World spirits creating everything and as things progress to a more modern stage the fantastical elements become more subdued while still present.
  13. Luke Danger That would be so cool if it wasnt going to hurt us

So, with no information on season 2, what do you guys have for your wishlists of what to see?

    Here's mine.

-> Let us see the Benders oppressing people that Amon kept talking about, followed by a knee-jerk reaction in response to the whole Equalist mess by benders who turn Bender Supremacist to try and stop another Equalist uprising by stamping non-benders into the dirt.
-> The Lieutenant and the Equalists remaining in the background, but maybe either mellowing out but retaining some of their arms to defend against said knee-jerk reaction and because some just won't quit, they were dedicated to the ideals, not the man Amon.
-> The toll that the war took on Republic City and its standing police forces. Even if Korra restored all their bending abilities, they still took casualties in the form of KIAs and severe injuries.
-> Due to the above, the various triads make a comeback and some parts of the city become rather contested, with the Krew trying to help restore order.
-> Some closure on Mako and Asami's relationship, make it clear that they had parted ways romantically (preferablly suggesting they did it before Mako went to find Korra at the cliffside) so it doesn't seem like Mako is cheating on Asami any more than he already (and for the most part probably unintentionally) did.
-> Korra and Bolin practicing some more advanced techniques like Metalbending, Lightning, etc. and perhaps Asami teaching them hand-to-hand without bending.
-> Return of Pro Bending. With the war over, it wouldn't hurt to get it back because I thought it was an innovative idea and its a great little thing for 'day in the life' moments. Besides, the public probably needs entertainment :p
-> What happens to Future Industries with Hiroshi in jail. Does Asami take control? Some underling of her dad's who wasn't an Equalist?
-> Bumi II and Iron II being crazy awesome 4-star badasses.
-> Who replaces Tarrlok as a Councilor, and is the Republic City's council actually more effective now that it isn't in Tarrlok's pocket?
-> (Possibly): Mako, Bolin, and Asami at least join the RC police as 'freelancers' if nothing else if the above hoped for plot comes in. IE, Team Avatar can legally act to assist the law (much as Aang did with Yakone) but they have to use all the same regs, be responsible for damages, attend training seminars to be trained for that, etc. Lin Bei Fong might of been harsh with Korra, but she WAS right about vigilantism.
-> New Korramobile? Maybe Korra gets some driving lessons (and a license? :p )

  20. I saw the same picture in there, but I didn't comment on it in that thread. So you didn't have it with me.:p

Oh knock off the amon wank is unneeded the bastard was good at grandstanding, organizing, and waterbending there is no need to fucking wack off and give him new powers.
  24. Forgetful Nuka Chemist

You know, I've always wanted to tear the Anti-Bending revolution down the middle.

"You think, that if you remove bending, that you'll have the power? You're wrong. All of you are wrong. I come from a world where there is no bending...and people still starve. Wealth is in the hands of the few, and the majority will work their entire lives with only the hopes that they have enough to live comfortably in old age. We still have violence. Hell, we created a means of even greater violence. My good people. Amon and the anti-bending movement is a lie. The only way is to change the system, or work yourself into a position where you can earn great wealth."
