Little bit, besides the arrow on her head.
Must not post a Skyrim pun. Must be strong. Oh, temptation is high. Must resist.
If Kyoshi looked like that when she was 200 years old...
Most of them look younger actually, and when Aang went in the psirit world he was bald even when he ahd hair so it's probably how they see themselves, and Roku just went for the wise old mystic look.
That's also how he looked when he died.
But i'd say personal preference as only two of them have gray hair...
Another memetic Kyoshi.
To which I paraphrase C.S. Lewis: "I became a man when I stopped fearing childish things."
"Stop hitting yourself."
Looks like some kind of crown on nearly all the Fire Nation avatars. Do they always incarnate inside a royal line in that country?
And one of those earthbenders looks a little too much like a dwarf.
When you're the Avatar in the Fire Nation you tend to be treated like Royalty.
A food for thought. If Korra takes place in their version of 1920, and lets say average lifespan of avatar is 150 years lets see where we could place each of this figures. That fat dude would live in our time of Muhammad. That small earthbending woman beside that huge waterbender would be our time of Ceasar, while her hulking neighbour would be a time of Hannibal and guy before him with tall hat Alexander the great, and guy before him we cannot see would be Confucius. Actually, I can see now, they are not in chronological order or is it possible that some type of bending is skipped?
Because after that dwarf guy earthbender there is a firebender, then airbender, and so on not in standard order. Even if we look the other way sequence is not in order. Hm, now I am lost.
That female fire avatar in the middle looks evil IMO.
She does not seem to have any arms. Whats up with that ?
It's the way she has her hair.. Looks like the bone ridge.
Oh well that one guy who wants to write a B5 crossover? He now has an in.. Good for him.
Looks like a strong resemblance to Azula...
Seriously! What the hell is with the fandom? ATLA had loads of great AMVs by now, but all I can find is Emo bull crap.
There is a good amv of Korra that uses the song "church in the wild."
a thought occurs: assuming that rohan is also an airbender, and that he and each of his siblings have more gthan replacement rate of airbenders and so forth; how many generations would it take for there to be enough airbenders to recolonise thair old territories/for it to actually be a matter of not simply going over to air temple island and shaking down the kids the next time theres an air avatar?
There's a lot of variables to that, King of Hybrids, including how many kids, how many Air Acolyte kids end up being benders due to spirituality, and deaths among their numbers. However, for simplicity let's use Tenzin and Pema as our number and not count the Air Acolytes, so each airbender kid would find someone they truly loved and end up having 4. Let's assume about 30 years between the new generation for simplicity.
Let's also assume about ~120 years for each Avatar + 20 years of maturation for each for easy numbers to do some guesswork. We're on Water and post-maturation for Korra, so about 120 more years with Korra, then another 140 for Earth and a third 140 for Fire before we get to air. That gives us 400 years of simplified guesswork.
Now, assuming a roughly 30 year gap between each kid having 4 more, that gives us 13 generations, rounded down. So 13 times. Each subsequent year, however, we will subtract from the prior generation to represent death rate even though they would probably still be alive.
So, for the first generation:
4 (Ikki, Jinora, Meenlo, Rohan) x 4 (each of them having 4 kids) = 16
16-4 to represent natural declinaton and the fact the previous generation won't have more = 12
12x4 for generation 2 having kids, 4 each.
And so on 13 times total...
Wow... REALLY high number: 6,377,292 airbenders over 400 years...
Okay, this doesn't factor in other causes of death, just natural death and even then its pretty young for 'natural', but I think its safe to say that the Air Nomads will be fairly well reestablsihed by the time an Air Avatar is born again baring someone targeting airbenders specifically or them being too close to 2D2L too often or other causes like disease getting at them...
By the next time there's an Air Avatar, you'll probably still be able to find that avatar by just looking at the Birth Certificates and figuring it out with some simple arithmetic.
EDIT: Or not. Or... Or they have computers which make that really easy and they can still do that.
The Avatar only reincarnates to the next person within the cycle when that person is born during the season associated with that element. This means an Air Avatar won't be born until the Fall of the year after the previous Fire Avatar died. With low population numbers this could take forever if nobody realizes it. After all I doubt Aang told anybody/or knew and the world has been without an Avatar for a long time.
though, judging by bryke saying the air nomads as a culture are permenantly caput, i wonder how much the acolytes will be able to trasnmit to the future air nation/benders.
and, assuming it lasts that long, i wonder how the rules of pro-bending will change once theres enough air benders to compete
I feel like the rules would be pretty similar to how the fire benders rules work
Well, of Katara and Aang's three children, one was a water bender, one an air bender and another had nothing. Also, Sokka wasn't a waterbender, neither were their parents. And as far as we can tell, Tophs parents were not benders either.
makes me wonder how bending genetics works.
Bending genetics are fusking weird, and don't determine if you can actually bend, they just determine the potential, that is, what Element you might bend.
So it sort of works like the force in star wars?
