Nick is owned by Viacom which is one of incredibly pro-LGBT media companies in North America. I meant Viacom shocked the US TV industry by launching a national LGBT channel, 'Logo TV' channel.

And besides, Nick is no stranger to that kind of stuff. They even showed two girls kissing each other on iCarly, and two guys kissing on Josh and Drake.

    No. They're just bash brothers.

    Step-brothers.

Dammit, book 5 taking place in the Spirit World would've been nice. Since there would FINALLY be a reason to show Azula.

Beedok A little confused and disoriented at all this. . .

Yeah, I'd wanted to give a very brief summary of why I wasn't including the US managing to make a democracy.

Also, Soku (Rozin?) for sure. That's some Dumbledore-Grinwald stuff.

They weren't related, and their lines only touched for Zuko and Azula.

Oh, I thought you were responding to my post about two guys kissing each other on Nick's Josh and Drake, which turned to be step-brothers after googling online.

  10. I'd argue that the opposite of the bolded part actually, Korra is shown to try to project a tough exterior but when she's with her family and friends, she's fairly open. She's been shown to doubt of herself, actually, that's a running theme of the show, her worth as the avatar is constantly questioned, her self doubt is present in everything she does. The end of season 4 is actually Korra learning to be at peace with it. Korra doesn't even fit "she's pretty sweet under that rugged exterior" trope, we are constantly shown Korra expressing her feelings.

Korra is very action-prone, but among the main cast, Mako, Bolin, Asami, Tenzin, his kids, Lin and Su, she's probably the most sensitive character in LoK.

  11. Luke Danger

Luke Danger That would be so cool if it wasn't going to hurt

On top of that, calling Korra and Asami lesbians is probably inaccurate - they were genuine about their feelings for Mako. Either Korra's bi and only just now realized it (ditto Asami), or it's a case of "if it's you it's okay", both of which are perfectly valid. Or both.

  12. Holocene

    Holocene I'm a pretty princess

Wow, I skipped through 10 pages of posts and NOTHING'S CHANGED. Any comments about the show other than shipping is like trying to search for pearls in a mountain of shit.

But yeah this was a great ending. Kuvira's meteorbending stood out to me though, she's hella good with those.

  13. God! It's just saddening and tragic seeing Republic City like that. I feel in love with it the moment I saw it. The buildings, the cars, the streets, and people that lived there. It felt alive, to see this melting-pot of cultures and peoples was amazing. I found myself just pausing so many times to take in the view. A few scenes showing people wearing non-bending nation colors (red, blue, green), all looking like they're from different ethnicities. Every shot of that city left me stunned. I loved that the clothing had it's own unique feel to it, how you could see the trends and where the came from (Korra's dress), but still had recognizable fashions that looked western (Asami's dress). The fact that it all wasn't just boring black suits and ties is really a point in it's favor. The set design in this show is top notch, and it had me hooked the second I saw it all those years ago!

I've got to agree with you! What the heck do you call that style any way? It's its own blend of eastern, art deco, and has 20s urban feel to it. It was truly a unique world to see and I loved every second of it.

Also Varrick and Zhu Li getting together at the end was just adorable! I couldn't care less about any other ship except those two, and yes that is a bias because Varrick is my favourite character from the show. Every second he was on screen is gold!

Edit: Also playing We Are the Champions just feels right!!!

  14. That's because Varrik is a magnificent bastard with magnificent bastard filling!

  15. The five seconds he showed up in season 3 was the highlight for me. It also foreshadowed his work on electromagnets and different mecha suit designs while in Zaofu, and it was just funny seeing the reactions from Korra and Friends? Gang? Krew? (Whatever) him being free from prison.

Edit: Also him and Bolin had great chemistry together. And that every time Bolin ripped his shirt or had a Nuktuk flashback I got shocked by how ripped Bolin really is! I mean Jesus Christ! He really does look like a pro-athlete!

I actually thought Varrick was pretty cool too and loved every second he was on screen.

It's one of reasons why I fell love with Korra because the Republic City really sold me on diversity and a multi-culture. All of these aspects made the Republic City felt like a really alive place.

I just googled for more pictures of the Republic City and came across this one. It looks like only the middle portion of the city got wrecked, and I bet the post-recovery city would be a far more glorious place with the Republic City expanding outwardly per President Raiko's plan.

  18. Jose

Jose Should've put more thought in my profile name.

It also had a pretty badass creation; Aang used the Avatar State to rip Yu Dao from the mainland in order to disconnect it from the Earth Kingdom allowing it to be its own thing.

  19. This picture...... just this picture man.

You can see the urban sprawl, how the city has expended into the country side, this little farms around it, the bridges and docks that connect everything. The island with the Statue of Aang and the Air Bending Island. You can even see the pro-bending stadium as that spot of gold right above it. That city had life breathed into it by the animators and set designers. It was a wonderful place to see.

Edit: The best part was also the music. You wouldn't expect 20s and 30s jazz to work so well with this eastern art deco city but it just does! Now I want to see Avatar-verse's Las Vegas, see what they can come up with! Hell given what we've heard and seen so far New Vegas's soundtrack wouldn't sound too out of place on the radio in Republic City or in the Earth Kingdom/Empire/Future Federation.

  20. Yeah there both bisexual not lesbian, though it hardly matters.

As for the relationship itself I'm kinda torn on how little there actually is. I would of preferred an actual relationship being built, then this ambivalent couple of scenes and the ending deal.

Byrke confirming just makes it more annoying then anything else. I don't care who dates who, just give us a story dammit.

Of course I just hope this doesn't play into korra's hair change, I fucking loved her long hair, it was gorgeous. Thinking they did it for this ending makes me annoyed.

    shipmastersane PHOENIX WRORT: SPACE ATTORNEY!

"Look you stupid weasel turkey, Kuvira is going to march in here with a spirit powered super weapon and blow a hole in the FUCKING UNIVERSE. You've been living in this city for three years for free, breaking our shit as you please, and you want to leave as soon as something only possible because of you morons comes knocking at the door? I swear to god if I don't get some serious James Cameron level Deus-ex-you-lazy-shits by the end of the day I'm going to PERSONALLY reenact Akira all over your fucking face until I make a swirly DNA portal and make out with Asami inside it!"

"I feel like that threat got very off track at some point."
"Shut up Mako no one cares."
"Fuck you Hasook you're not even a character."

    "But Avatar. It just doesn't....

Yeah I'm gonna want a source on that.

    ...Yeah I'm calling it canon.

  24. The question isn't "is it canon", the question is "how long does it last"? :D

    I give it six months.

  25. The painted lady and Hei Bei and presumably the ocean spirit and Yue probablly care about the world
