Lilac sets herself down into the seat after bowing slightly to Blitzwand. "I don't, the most of the market was closed to ensure the forums would be repaired without people being in the way. I had to suffer through not being able to re-stock both my tea and knitting supplies." The Lady snaps her finger and a shadowy figure sporting a bandaged forehead descends from the ceiling carrying a tea tray in hand. "Thank the stars the market is now open again. I get very tetchy without my afternoon tea. Would you care for some Blitzwand dear?" The figure sets down the tray and gets to work pouring.

Mr. Lawrence pours Blitzwand a cup, the aroma of steam and oranges pierces the nose, or whatever instrument a Warforged uses to smell. "How have you been keeping Blitzwand? I've bee a bit busy with my own studies as well as re-arranging my quarters, I haven't had the pleasure of running into either you nor the others." OOC: I'm going to change my colours too until the forum scheme changes.

Sorry about the thirteenth hour entry. Just got word that the servers were back up and its been a rough... week... so far. Also, Reaper, I've got an AAR from the last session we had. You want me to go ahead and post it? IC: Eravan mutters softly as he comes down into the main area of the tavern, searching for the others and scribbling furiously at what is turning into a fairly large manuscript.
Glad to see you back. All the AARs should still be up. I'm going to link them in the archive eventually but the XenForo upgrade means I have to go back and fix all the old links too. Yes, we have gone up one of the mountains. We need climbing gear to reach "the temple," where we ran into some REALLY dangerous ghouls. I'm planning to go back soon. We probably need climbing gear for other parts of the mountains too. Bee: if you go into your preferences, you can find a black background scheme, as Tinox said. ---IC: "I have been doing well, Lady Sear. I have been occupying myself with honing my swordwork with Ionnina, practicing my spells, and speaking with Al-Hamid, among other things."
24 Pantheras, 2262 (Errsday) Battle was the operative word for today's outing. Our original goal was the cave system infested by bats and gnolls (and Bahamut knows what else). Othorin joined us for the first time today, Lady Sear lead the way, and Eravan, Rhogar with Gorbash, and I made up the balance of the force. No sooner had we crossed the river north of Anchorholde when we encountered our first oppoenent, a Hobogobin leading several giant crab-like beasts. For simplicity I will call them crabs, though I am unsure if that is accurate. The crabs possessed strong attacks, but were not as resilient as I had feared. They left us battered when they struck, but our own attacks quickly killed them and their "master." Othorin provided me with divine healing, which was sorely needed, and I believe Gorbash channeled one of Rhogar's attacks. Both were valuable actions - I am always impresssed to see the diverse abilities others bring to a battle. Scant minutes had passed when we were beset by another Hobgoblin beast-master, this one leading a pack of small wolves. With all due respect to the noble wolves, they seemed much less of a threat than the crabs, but it mattered little as Lady Sear slew a wolf in a single blow, putting the hobogoblin to flight. Realizing that to let it flee would invite even more golbins to ambush us later, we ran him down and eliminated him. Othorin voices his objections, though whether to the mercilessness of cutting down a fleeing enemy, or simply the viciousness of the killing, I was not sure. I do understand his qualms, but bitter experience has taught me that cold pragmatism is more charitable than being too generous in the West Marches. The goblins do not respect the rules of war, and we have not the infrastructure to abide by them: we have no place to house and feed prisoners. Rhogar of course preformed his customary beheading and consuming of the heart. Resting and moving on, we came to the grove of regular trees (I will propose a working name for this area: this method of referral is growing tiresome.) I will be frank - we did not find our goal here. After hours of fruitless searching, even going to the Big Ole River and coming back, our destination proved elusive. One note I must remember is that we did find another river, one that did not immediately lead to the big Ole River. Stymied, we decided to return to Anchorholde, when we were attack by more of those crab creatures, this time lead by what appeared to be something of a leader among the crabs. It hit me with some compulsion that drew me into the river, where the crabs had the advantage and damaged me serverely. I was glad that I do not need to draw breath, though luckily a scenario where I would need that advantage did not come to pass. Regardless, we prevailed over the crabs, and continued home, bearing a large load of crab meat to sell. I am currently concerned with how we failed to find what we had found easily before. I would also later dedicate some time to simply exploring the grove and updating our maps more.
OOC: Since B7's putting his up, I guess I'll follow. Eravan marches into the tavern, a rather frustrated look on his face, his armor and robes stinking of fish gone bad. He sits down in the map room and sighs, watching as the others slowly file in. Sighing, he leans back in his chair until it is braced against the wall, and places a hand over his face. After a moment or two he finally lets out another breath and begins to talk. “Today was… interesting…” he says softly, looking up towards the ceiling. “As seems to often be the case these days, we failed to locate our objective, or even a trace of it. What we did find was what appeared to be a hobgoblin beast master convention and a brand new type of… what’s the phrase… ‘creepy crawly’ to look out for.” “Lady Sear guided us north, towards the rivers and ruins, and at first everything looked as though it was going to go our way.” He crosses his hands over his stomach, partially concealing a large gash in the armor plating. “Then we got across the river and all hell broke loose. We were spotted by a Hobgoblin, armed with a whip, and it seemed to be directing what at first glance looked like a rather oversized pair of crabs that you commonly find on the beach… if crabs could get as big as Blitzwand and had foul tempers.” “We discovered the hard way that these… craud… as we’ve learned they’re called, are vicious in close quarters combat, and the subspecies that we battled had a large, heavy duty claw meant to crush carapaces and other things. They work just as well on Imperial Warforged, as we’ve discovered in Blitz’s case. It’s possible that his own shell reminded them of some sort of shellfish or other prey animal that they eat, as they seemed particularly keen on opening him up.” The High Elf shakes his head. “At any rate, the Hob himself was a minor threat compared to what he was commanding, and we were able to finish the battle without major incident.” The wizard glowers softly, and clenches his teeth. “We’d gone scarcely another few hundred feet, it seemed, when we encountered another beast master… this one leading a pack of wolves.” Eravan shakes his head again. “This battle went… rather differently. Differently in the sense that Lady Sear charged forward and promptly bisected one of the wolves, prompting the others to decide that they really wanted no part of this black armored beserker with the giant axe. Not that they were able to get far before the Lady hunted down the Hobgoblin and dispatched him. The other two wolves were able to make themselves scarce, and I can only hope that they’ve learned a valuable lesson in to not attack things moving around on two legs.” “From there, we wandered about in an attempt to locate the ruins that would take us down to the cave, but after a couple trips through the glade, all we found were more craud.” Eravan steeples his fingers and his face becomes pensive. “There were four of them this time, and they demonstrated themselves to be more than just dumb brutes. They displayed flanking tactics, and they also appeared to have some rudimentary chain of command, for lack of a better way of putting it. One of them, slightly larger than the rest, possessed a glowing orb on top of a stalk. This orb demonstrated the ability to magically lure in unwitting individuals, and even those of robust mental fortitude,” he gestures towards Blitzwand. “The others also answered to it, so to speak, and would go to extreme lengths to protect this one. Sadly, I was unable to recover the carcass of this particular specimen, as it washed down river. I had hope to be able to study it and gain some understanding of the source of its magical abilities.” “We were all somewhat battered and bloodied after that episode, and decided to head back to town before anything else could go wrong. Thankfully, the trip back was a somewhat uneventful, and we were able to sell the craud for a modest sum. We recovered the Hobgoblin whips as well, and the leather armor on one of them was in somewhat salvageable condition.” He inclines his head towards Othorion. “I would also like to take this time to commend the newest member of the group. Our paladin friend here conducted himself well, and even pulled Blitzwand out of a rather tight spot.” He smiles a bit despite himself and raises a mug of tea. “I propose a toast to the newest member of our soon to be guild, in honor of his performance and his courage!”
Let's scrub Thursday, and (probably) Saturday as well. Reaper is busy with finals until further notice.
So Saturday is maybe still okay? (Or even Thursday/today? I might have already screwed the pooch for today...)
If I need games to be cancelled I'll be the first one to let you know. I have enough time so long as no additional games are scheduled before tuesday or so, and they didn't look like they'd be so I wasn't going to say anything.
Ok, so we're still on for tonight? I have to run to the store real quick, I shouldn't be late but I wanted to let you know in case I am a few minutes over time. Edit: Ok, I'm back. Ready to go whenever the server goes up.
More or less the same. Ready to go whenever the server goes up. IC: Eravan sits down at one of the tables in the tavern, and begins thumbing through his notes.
So is it no games 'til next Thursday, or is Tuesday okay to schedule something (Just want to verify that I understand your wording)?
Well tuesday is the day MOST of my papers are due, so I'd prefer if you didn't schedule anything that day in case I have something left last minute...
Gotcha-- I think it's just better to go with nothing until next Thursday-- papers can be a bitch, especially if you have unexpected computer issues.
